We must do a race someday, then. Me in the GTB and you in the F40. Quite the sight... True. And I find it quite enjoyable with TC=1, but still... It bothers me. :D
Don't let it bother you. I have raced for ages with TC and ABS on, and I still race the AI in GT3 cars with those aids on, factory that is. In real GT3 they use that too, at least ABS as I understand it, so why not. :)

Only recently have I started practising racing with all aids off, though mainly cars that don't have aids in real life. It's quite challenging, especially the braking. But the 488 GTB I found quite manageable and I have mostly driven it with all aids off. It's so incredibly fun to drive on the (my) limit. Very satisfying when I am able to utilise all the grip with the braking without locking the wheels. The tyres make a small screeching sound just before they lock up so I use that as a warning signal. Sometimes I'm inevitably a bit too hard on the gas, but it's fully possible to catch most of the slides. It takes a lot of concentration but in the end I'm hoping that after a lot of practice it will be more of an intuitive process. For the moment I'm 10-15 seconds behind my "aids on" time though.
Probably a bit silly to use the 488 as practice for TC/ABS off, since it was meant to be driven with those on. But it is so fun and satisfying. And it's awesome with TC/ABS on as well.

The F40 is a monster that's yet to be tamed. :mischievous:

Edit: The point of all this rambling was really just to say: Drive the cars in the manner that is most fun for you, whether it's with ABS and/or TC on or off.

B.K
Sorry if this was asked before, but the Prestige Pack cars like the Nismo GTR, M4 etc. they re not included when you buy AC digital in the PSN store?

I Pre-Ordered AC digital and I got only 3 Cars, 488, R8, Vette. Or will the Prestige car pack be later available as free for pre-order buyers?
I posted this yesterday in the other thread, but probably better here since the other one moves fast...

Kunos announced yesterday that all 9 cars will be part of a DLC pack, and that it will not be part of the season pass (logical if those cars cost extra for the prestige edition of the game).

Details here: http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/prestige-pack-announcement.36095/#post-740818

I am really hoping the console version of this pack gets released SOON! You guys have got me in a cold sweat to try these out.

Yeah, after 5-6 years of racing in Gran Turismo where "no aids" was the way to go it took me a while to accept the notion of using them. But now it's all about realism so I drive the car with whatever aids it would use in real-life, use the "factory" preset. Well, for the most part. In something like the GT86 I will turn TC off because that's probably what I'd do in that real car at a track day. But in hyper cars or GT3 cars I leave them on because those cars are actually designed to be driven with those aids, but I'll usually turn it down a bit so it's not too intrusive.

It's easy to leave factory setting enabled and map TC+, TC-, ABS+, ABS- to buttons on the wheel, of course.

Edit: If you have a Thrustmaster GTE rim with the manettino switch and map TC+/- to that switch you get some very cool simulation value there :)

Yep, I adjust them on the keyboard though because all of the buttons on my CSL rim are used (really need a button box). Formula rim has some more buttons but I don't use it often and usually forget what's mapped to what. :dunce: I don't think I've ever messed with ABS though, just leave it on whatever the default is for "factory".

Exactly my thoughts.

With that in mind, finding my limits is exactly what I've been trying to do. And the GTB is definitely drawing the line as to how far I can go.

You guys feel like a Porsche countdown? Just like we did for example before PCARS was launched (and then we had to do it over when it was delayed lol).

9 days left!:

But then the numbers are all over the place because "on my platform it probably will be on a Wednesday" and "in my country it's already tomorrow"... :P

So what changed from the previous countdowns, 25th it is! ;)
If there's an Aussie who wants to post an 8 already, or a console user who can find a Porsche with an '?' on it so be it

I know no one cares, but here's the order in which I'll be trying out the Porsches:

911 Carrera S
911 Carrera RSR 3.0 1974
918 Spyder
718 Cayman S
Cayman GT4 Clubsport
935 Moby Dick
917/30
Panamera G2

If i was you id put the panamera before the 917 and moby dick, those cars arent gonna turn too well so you might want to get used to it, the weight will help you extend your braking lines as well. To be honest though ill drive the panamera first so i can giggle at the spoiler animation.

Now that you mention it, the Panamera is the most "Moby Dick" of them all. :D

Since we're on the topic of making a list on which Porsches would drive first:

Panamera
718 Cayman S
Cayman GT4 Clubsport
911 Carrera S
917/30
911 Carrera RSR 3.0 1974
935 Moby Dick
918 Spyder.

I think I'm going to drive the Panamera first just out of spite because so many people complained that nobody wants to drive a fat street car.

As I always did with PCars DLC, I will start with the car I am least interested in by looking at the available liveries then have 3 quick laps at a certain circuit followed by a 1 lap replay.

I have yet to finalise my Porsche Pack I order but the 935 Moby Dick and 917/30 with be the penultimate and last cars respectively.

Roll on the trailer!

Thats an interesting concept. Might try this myself. However, another good idea is by starting with the slowest car and finishing with the most powerful...

Most likely, i wont be able to resist and start with the cars im looking forward the most. First, i do a couple of laps at Black Cat County with the Carrera S. Then i will take the Cayman GT4 to the Nürburgring. Moby Dick, 918 and 718 will follow...

Alright...I've been trying to keep my mouth shut, but I just gotta ask.

Why do so many people get so excited about the Porsche 935/78 Moby Dick? This car didn't have a successful racing history. Is it the wild looks of the race car? I know it's got gobs of horsepower, so it's freakin' fast...but I've never truly understood the fawning all over this race car.

Is it the 25th yet? :D

Because the 935 itself is one of the most successful race cars ever?

Good try. But you didn't come even remotely close to addressing my question. You obviously didn't read my OP correctly.
Doesnt matter how successful it was, who cares about that when its group 5 and its a Porsche, it wins even if it never raced. People ask for the 917/20 which ran a single race. Its one of those rare moments of race history where you have to seriously question how a human could have done such a thing so it got immortalised, in a field of crazy nutcases this was the nuttest of them all.

Do you think maybe it was just too powerful? I'm not very knowledgeable about Group 5 racing, except that they had probably the wildest looking cars ever. I know a bit about the Porsche 935 history. A truly remarkable car in various configurations. It seems, however, that everybody always goes crazy for the 935/78, the Moby Dick. I guess I can see what you're saying. It is a wild looking 935 variant, no doubt!

EDIT: Zakspeed Ford Capri was Group 5, right?

Yes. As was the Lancia Beta Montecarlo and the Ferrari 365 which was imsa as well as G5. It was eventually replaced by Group B until that disappeared from sports car racing in favour of Group C and C2.
