They're not relying on mods, they're relying on their physics. That's the back that successful sims are carried on.

But of course, when it comes to modding, that's always going to be a thing. A lot of sifting through the crud. But I'm sure someone will make a good site like rFactor Central to take a lot of the work out. But it's well worth the trade off.

And if as many high-profile modders do come along then we can expect to see an absolutely amazing standard of mods to choose from.

I won't mind conversions at all either, as long as they're driveable (both tracks and cars) then it's all good for me.

Some people in here are expecting too much though, there won't be that many mods just spurting out, it'll take time. Pure (check link) is going to be releasing our first mod hopefully near AC's launch, all it's going to be is a Spec Miata we want to teach ourselves to mod with. Figured it'd be the easiest, funnest way to get into it.

I have downloaded and played, yesterday, the nKPro demo! I wanted to have a taste of what is going to offer us AC... I must say that I'm a little disappointed. The formula 600 looks soooo hard to control (comparing to GT5 driving)! The biggest difference is in braking.
(I have a Porsche 911 GT3 RS steering wheel and ClubSport Pedals V1)
I drive often in GT5 without using ABS but in nKPro it seems more like an on/off thing. Use little pressure and you lose the turn, use a little more and block the wheels.
After 10-15 laps I got used and I can (hardly) keep now the car in the track. I like the Force Feedback feeling of the game but It looks so unforgivable when it comes to driving mistakes... I guess this is all about real driving.
I 'm willing to go deeper with a more pretentious simulator and my point is that I'm happy AC decided to include some driving aids for those who aren't so experienced.;)

reduce the braking force in the setup menu, I use 30 so it doesn't lock up as easily and about 78% ratio so the rear doesn't lock up first

And don't brake hard in turns, light single seaters don't like that
Plus step on the clutch if you have one, as the engine braking when you brake with clutch in will throw the car off balance in the lower gears, 1-2 especially. Otherwise left foot brake and keep a little gas on

^ Mars Attacks. Try these settings.

The problem with heavily relying on mods is that the quality of the game can become inconsistent, some will be high quality, some poor. Especially when they're converted from old games.

Like Wardez said, they are relying on their physics engine and they really have a very very good car list at the moment with more coming in the future in the form of DLC.
The way they've developed the game is so the modders don't have to write their mod's physics, input each car's data and the physics engine creates that particular car's physics. This alone will make for a standard of mods we haven't seen before, the old mods out there will be made to shine once again with updated textures and such, sounds have never been an issue and they only get better, top it all off with a very solid physics engine behind it all and we are in for a treat!!

Does anyone know if this and Pcars will use the "render each screen seperate" the way Iracing does? Some of the games being released now or even there betas dont seem to be using it. Really hope these 2 games use it as it does look much better that way. Would also like to see them use wheel settings per car as iracing does, instead of having to adjust each time you switch cars.

I had the same problem at first too but that was also when I was very new to PC sim racing. Have you played any other sims on the PC like iracing?

The 1600 is a difficult car to drive, that's true. It's basically like a formula ford with treaded radial tires. Very low grip. I'm a bit surprised they put that as the demo car, it's basically the most difficult car to drive besides the GP2 car, and that's debatable. Keep at it because netkar is amazing. The tire physics are just on another level and so is the suspension simulation.

Need a new PC first, mine isn't good enough for AC.
But seriously, if it's possible to convert tracks from rFactor to AC, I'll consider to let someone convert my Petersberg hillclimb (still not finished by the way), even if it's not on par graphics wise (although an update could be possible).

I may need a new one too but luckily that Tech demo is on the way to find out for sure. You'd be surprised what you can get to run on computers.

No unfortunately, I haven't. I have a very slow PC:(. (I run the nKPro demo at 800x600:crazy:)

Its a relief to hear that the 1600 is a difficult car to drive! Actually I was disappointed with myself (not with the game) not being able to control the car.
After getting used to the game with some more laps and some proper wheel settings everything looks much more better, particular the FF which feels fantastic!👍

I'm looking forward to play AC, although this won't happen soon, unless I'll manage to find 1200-1500€ to buy a new powerful PC...
If Pcars finally manages to deliver good driving physics I'll have to stick with PS3 and maybe upgrade my wheel to a CSW...
But, knowing AC will have the best physics ever, makes it hard to choose :nervous:
All depends from the AC demo, so soon we will know...

(I know the newPC+AC+Pcars+CSW will be the best combo to buy so "Santa" WHERE ARE YOU!!!)

About AC and "three screen render" is confirmed as I read here!👍

It'll need Windows Vista or 7 to run, I still have XP, so no, it won't work on my machine.

WHAT?!!?!?!?!?!?
It won't run on XP?
That's complete BS if it's true. That's at least half their market gone right there. And that includes me.

It'll need Vista or 7 for the full DX11 experience but i'm sure a DX9 version that works with XP will also be present.

No, it will be DX11 only. (as it stands atleast)

XP is an 11 year old system, Vista is over 5 years old.
I doubt they lose over half their market. :)

I don't think so:guilty:, see here

- Marco: It’s difficult to say yet – the optimization process hasn’t started yet. Assetto Corsa natively supports DirectX 11, therefore will not be compatible with Windows XP and with DirectX 9 or 10 graphics cards, but will work with DX10.1 hardware. But I’m talking about hardware produced 4 years ago or before. Assetto Corsa is compatible with my ATI 4800 Series that I bought in early 2009. -

I have a 4830 HD. :D
Don't want to play it on my PC anyway, I would have to turn the graphics down so much, that I couldn't enjoy it anymore.

Saving up for a monster PC anyway.

I have to say ,that I'm really really looking forward to AC 👍 Next yer will be so great for simu fans :)
