@ALB123 You make it sounds like Pcars forum ( with Ian Bell ) :scared:
Oops! I didn't want to make it seem that bad... But, there have been a few bans that I've witnessed that didn't seem truly necessary to me. Or, at least not a permanent ban was necessary - maybe just a temp ban or warning. I don't visit the PCars forums, but I've heard a lot of stories about Ian Bell. The guys at Kunos don't come anywhere near his level of insanity & rage. It's not even close. That guy seems to be a real piece of chit.

Well, as I said he can be borderline Ian Bell-ish sometimes. "Juvenile" is perhaps a better word, like Brandon said. Some of his posts are almost uncomfortable to read. He should use his own ignore function more, but perhaps it got to a point where he got kind of addicted to winding himself up and produce an anger response. Who knows.

A break will no doubt do him good. I miss the awesome Stefano from a while ago. I hope he will be back.

To be clear, I'm not trying to cast stones at glass houses or anything, part of me would want to react to these people the same way Stefano does. It's human instinct to fight fire with fire, to respond to trolls in-kind. But like mom said, when dealing with bullies you have to be the bigger man and don't let them drag you down to their level, and he lets them bring him down deep into their cesspit of hatred. I like the guy and I couldn't imagine having to put up with the abuse he receives, but I think his skin could use a few extra layers of thickness if he's going to keep communicating with the forum peoples.

IAN BELL PERSONALLY BANNED DAMADMONEYMAN and I thought that was a little OTT....there was no gender abuse intended...

I still like Ian Bell. He's a bit of a show off but he doesn't react hostile to well formulated criticism like Stefano tends to do. Business practices from SMS aside, I don't think he deserves the boogeyman rep he gets in simracing land.

Who was the bald dude with Aris? Nice video... I saw the other one too. But, I wish they would have also done a single lap without drifting the he11 out of the car. Just a true racing lap to see what she can do around Modena.

Regardless, considering Lamborghini is my favorite manufacturer, knowing the SV is coming is like Viagra for me. :D I just hope we don't have to wait until Christmas for this baby.

Well, watching those videos I doubt I will be doing much "proper" racing with that car. Will go bonkers and try to replicate what Aris did. :D At least in the beginning.

Man...I share your excitement. Please God...Don't make us wait too long for the next DLC Dream Pack! I was very impressed with his driving & drifting. You've got to be a confident man to drive a half million dollar car like that.

I am so terrible at drifting in Assetto Corsa. I never even try/practice anymore. Maybe when the Bull is released I'll give it another go trying to get her sideways. :sly:

Steam sale is now confirmed for between June 23rd-July 4th

AC and its complete edition(with all the dlc bundled) generally go down to between 50%off and 75% off so now is the time to buy it if you havent got it.

also if anyone has spare money BUY ME ALL OF THE DLC FOR TRAIN SIMULATOR

And then you see people saying £4 is too much for the japanese pack -_-

Is that the most expensive game ever? It must come with a real train no?

That price will still go to the flight simulators, methinks. If you really want quality stuff for these types of games, you're going to have to dish out quite a bit of money, even for seemingly unneccesary stuff like clouds and sky textures and so forth, but ultimately it's worth it. There are people that have spend probably even a 5-figure sum on FSX, XPlane and P3D combined.

Well that's just crazy. No game is worth that much.

Of course sim racing don't count, cause we all know that's different and worth the money. :gtpflag:

In FSX it's not at all uncommon for a single plane to cost $50 or more. After seeing that I vowed to never complain about racing DLC prices (not that I ever did, they're usually only the cost of a pint or two).

Well, it's not a game, it's a simulation. And for many people that's their hobby and you always spend stupid amounts of money on your hobbies. We do too!

I purchase racing wheels and games and DLC, and all of that because I love simulation racing. It's quite literally the same thing with aviation simulation or train simulation.

Jesus...I just checked out that Train Simulator page at Steam. There is so much freakin' DLC available for that game. I think it listed 267 different DLC packages you can buy. $5753.24 if using the American dollar. Wow!! Now, let's say that you buy all the DLC that are 'routes' and just disregard new trains or whatever... Is all the DLC playable at one time. For instance, just make a simple scenario that has nothing to do with the actual game. Let's say the base game comes with the railroad lines for the state of NY. If I bought DLC that was for Connecticut, then another package for Massachusetts, and then another package for Vermont...could I run my train from NY thru CT and thru Mass and ultimately end up in Vermont? Does it expand the entire world comprised of your DLC? If so, that's freaking amazing.

I have seen some absolutely amazing rigs for Euro Truck Simulator. Some mind-blowing rigs for whatever Flight Simulator was running and incredible rigs for Sim Racing, of course...I wonder what you would have to do to build yourself a rig for Train Simulator? Are there a lot of different switches and dials on a train? I would imagine quite a few gauges...but I've never seen the "cockpit" of a train. See, I don't even know what it's called...Engine Room? LOL

As far as I am aware, that's not the case. It's not like in flight simulations where you can fly from point A to point B without loading times or anything. Everything is compromised of scenarios, where you're replicating real-life journeys trains undergo. AFAIK there are also certain limitations from the engine itself. For instance, our local line is the RE5 and it goes from Emmerich - Koblenz, which is about 226km and the engine and scenery isn't big enough to have the entire track in. However as of right now, Train Simulator is being converted to Unreal Engine IIRC, which should hopefully give bigger sceneries and higher graphical fidelity.

In terms of controllers, there's the Raildriver Desktop

I think these might be commercial applications, but here's a train sim rig.

I never knew this existed, but here's an insane drilling sim rig (probably an official training rig).

Homemade flight sim cockpits make me

Seeing those prices makes me

But then I remember there are people who spend $2500+ on direct drive wheels (more if you include rigs), and we are not so different after all  At least with plane/train sims your choice of games is limited, graphics don't look particularly high end and the simulation quality is assured. Compared to racing sims where we have a LOT more games to buy, we need higher end computers to run and as we all know simulation level is up for debate. In the end I think the costs even out.

Also keep in mind that cars are cheaper in real life too, and almost everyone can buy one. Planes/trains are more exclusive so the higher price makes sense.

It would be awesome if someone has a specific room in their house each for sim racing, plane and train :D

having driven a direct drive wheel before due stupidly rich uncle having one i can tell you the main difference between that i my t300 is that firstly you seriously(at 70% mind you) cant do endurance, i maxed out at around 5 laps. There are just so many vibrations going on, it just rattles your bones apart, its not even about the strength of it which you would expect to be the problem. Talking about the strength though i can tell you it really helps, you can tell a lot more accurately what the car wants to do, the flip side is that counter steering is risky, there is a very real risk of you snapping all kinds of bones and tissue and little siblings.

Ultimately id throw it into the pile of stuff that i throw the movement rigs into, they are great for several hours or days maybe a week or so but once you settle into the flow you will ultimately just to go back to a standard wheel has its physically too much stress on you. I imagine it can substitute for going to the gym though because after an hour or so your biceps and triceps maybe your quads have taken multiple cyanide pills.
