Well it is timed with E3, which will no doubt bring big visibility to the console version. And they might well be announcing some new cars and/or licenses.

It's not like they announced an end to modding capabilities of the PC version, is it?
Smug grin time.

Although if Kunos got the Porsche license, that probably means it's not exclusive and we'll see at least GT and Forza getting it too, potentially also pCARS 2 and more.

I wonder if Kunos had the argument of "we didn't cheat and license a pretend RUF GT3 unlike iRacing/RaceRoom/pCARS" on their side?

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Porsche end up in iRacing and GT.

Forza (6) has the deal. It revealed months ago.

There are two RUF's in AC.
Don't you mean 3? The only one I've driven is the yellow bird but I'm sure there are two more or is one a step version of the other?

And in any case, they are Ruf's not made up race versions pretending to be something else are they?

Great move for them to get this hopefully more surprises to follow...
I kinda wish for a decal editor better than Forza's but simple enough to use.

3, yes, forgot the Yellowbird. The other ones are GT3's though, a rear wheel and an AWD version. Not the full race version, but the GT3 you can buy for the streets.

They are real simulated cars, not made up 911 GT3 RS look-a likes :)

This is amazing news. I didn't think this day would come :D

Unfortunately, I cant comment on todays Porsche announcement. I am on strike 2 for swearing in here and I cant aptly describe my joy for Kunos and the sim community as a whole without at least 37 f-bombs. And I aint even no Porsche fan, at all... :D

Now, Kunos: All I want is that holymotherofthesweetlordbabyjesusisthathingamazing 917 in Team Salzburg colors. I will happily buy both DLC packs just to finally be able to drive that one borderline devine car, which proudly sits on my shelf as a 1:18 diecast model with Hans Herrmanns signature on it, in a state of the art sim. Please, bitte, per favore!

917 was in the trailer and seeing you are a member of the master race, your prayer has been answered already :P

First of all, holy 🤬 this is unexpected. Never in a million years I thought we would see Porsche in any other game besides NFS/Forza in my life :D Amazing, absolutely amazing. The whole of sim racing community should give the licensing guy at Kunos a pat in the back. Almost makes up for closing the modding section of the forum. Almost.

I'm not a big Porsche fan by any means, but NFS Porsche Unleashed on the PS1 remains one of my finest gaming memories. Glad to have you back indeed 👍 Also hypercar trinity test here I come :D

GT, you're up next ;)

having driven a direct drive wheel before due stupidly rich uncle having one i can tell you the main difference between that i my t300 is that firstly you seriously(at 70% mind you) cant do endurance, i maxed out at around 5 laps. There are just so many vibrations going on, it just rattles your bones apart, its not even about the strength of it which you would expect to be the problem. Talking about the strength though i can tell you it really helps, you can tell a lot more accurately what the car wants to do, the flip side is that counter steering is risky, there is a very real risk of you snapping all kinds of bones and tissue and little siblings.

Ultimately id throw it into the pile of stuff that i throw the movement rigs into, they are great for several hours or days maybe a week or so but once you settle into the flow you will ultimately just to go back to a standard wheel has its physically too much stress on you. I imagine it can substitute for going to the gym though because after an hour or so your biceps and triceps maybe your quads have taken multiple cyanide pills.

I don't get the hype of DD wheels and super strong FFB myself. It's actually counterproductive to fast laptimes if you can't feel the subtler forces and countersteer quickly. I don't know if that's how non-power assisted steering in real race cars work, but for me for that kind of money I'd rather buy a used Miata for autocross.

That was the original GTR wasn't it? They had already gone to EA by the time GTR2 came out.

Porsche and Ferrari were in the original GTR2, but by the time it went on sale on Steam those cars were pulled due to licensing. You can still get them back in game through non-legit means, but let's not go there.

I am seriously considering buying this game since I don't plan on buying a PS4 anytime soon. So I have a few questions since the only racing game I have played since it was originally is Gran Turismo. So my questions are; 1, what are your driving options; meaning do you have a choice of views when driving. 2, Can I use my DFGT or a DS3 for driving? My PC is more than capable enough to run this game. So comparing AC to GT what can I expect? Thank you in advance for the answers.👍

So my questions are; 1, what are your driving options; meaning do you have a choice of views when driving.

There are 6 available driving views while racing: Bumper; Hood; Dash; Driver's eyes; Two different chase cams. Cockpit cam can be adjusted in real time (move seat up/down/left/right/forward/backward, adjust pitch up and down, adjust field of view). I think you can modify the position and FOV of all of the camera views by adjusting the ini files, I have done this for free camera in replays at least.

2, Can I use my DFGT or a DS3 for driving?

Yes and Yes

So comparing AC to GT what can I expect?

Much better and more communicative force feedback, physics and overall immersion. A bigger grid count, more race setup options (track grip level, laps, fuel and tyre wear rates, custom picked AI opponents and AI performance), faster AI drivers (although they can be almost like GT AI at times).

While AC's sounds aren't the best for PC sims, they are still substantially better than anything from GT. I have an F1 sound video here for example. The car roster is much smaller than GTs, but there are literally hundreds of mods available, the same goes for tracks. You can also expect a much smaller career mode, but I use AC entirely for custom races and hotlaps myself, and this is where the game excels.

...nailed it..
Only thing I'd change is the car roster is much smaller than traditional numbered GT games, but compared to GTSport I think it's safe to say the AC car list is much more varied, eclectic and interesting, at least to me anyway. It might even end up being larger when you take into consideration all the duplication and near duplication that GT is famous for, when the whole list is released.

I'd also add that there are some cars that are so good, so fun to drive and sound so good, that just a handful of them + all the laser scanned tracks is worth the entire price of the game to me. The Lotus 49, Ferrari 312, Ruf Yellowbird, Lamborghini Countach, Ford Escort, F40 and a few others fall into that category for me.

Can we have the list of the cars directly here, for both Italian and Porsche packs, please?

Great news anyway. Good I just bought a new steering wheel.

I don't think that there's any list available as of this point. But judging from the Porsche video, we can expect a standard 911 (presumeably a Carrera S; probably with the 3L Turbo engine), GT3 RS, 918, 919 LMP1 and 936/81. There's also a great possibility that we're going to see the 962c in the game as Patrik Sander, who's also responseable for the absolutely outstanding Mazda 787B mod in AC, because Kunos has been known to license outstanding mods and implement them into the game (Corvette C7r, Audi Sport Quattro, etc.).

For the italian pack there's the Lamborghini Aventador SV confirmed I believe. And Stefano also teased a Lancia Delta on his twitter, although stuff like this has to be taken with a grain of salt.[/URL]

Also for italian pack, might come the Ferrari F2012 or F138 (don't remember which was), teased in a previous trailer, I think the very first one announcing console version.
