I'd like to see a 70s F1 car in the five, I don't believe one has ever been officially licensed in a hardcore sim before, just Test Drive Ferrari. 312T maybe.

Maybe the 458 could be race modified... which would let a slot free... 5 is not ideal for such a legendary brand, but I take it nonetheless! the GTO is too close to a P4 330 IMHO (it would be one or the other), I would go for F1 312 maybe to get all the spectrum of driving experience and give some trouble to the 49...

Dude, dude, dude... Lemme help you with that list:

F458 - Check! 👍
458 GT3
F40
330 P4 👍
250 GTO - remember NKP! ;)

Agree... this will be an awesome piece of software... only the sound seems a bit under ATM (like playing MONO, instead of stereo... in the F458 sound of the video, like prisoner of tin can)... It will be a shame if the trackside sounds are not up to par with the other parts (physics and graphics). Graphic seems better but still less impressive than pCARS, but there is a nice GT5 feel to these cars (no rotten micro jaggies like in pcars on some part of the car)...

Great physics > flashy pretty game

But you have to compare something comparable: it's the first time that a game creator give us the chance to participate to the creation of the game at a VERY early stage: Pre-Alpha, which SMS is... AC seems to be much more advanced in its cycle (beta?) so get back in a year when Project cars will be in its beta phase and we can begin some comparison... SMS showed us with pCARS that they want to go as far as possible from Shift serie in term of physics and I'm sure it will show at the end, because ATM they are on a very good track with SETA.... some cars are already amazing to drive. So IMHO, both games will have their place on our HD.

At this point in time P-CARS should just not compare itself to anything out there, it just isn't at that point in developement yet. Not on graphics and not on physics. The developers have expressed very good intentions and plans for the game and that's great, but it's just not ready for the general public to see it yet.
Now back on topic... FORZA FERRARI!!!!!!!!

Honestly I think from the screen shots and videos we have seen so far, AC seems to be the perfect balance of realistic and "flashy" graphics. We have games like iRacing which has great graphics but they are very sterile and flat. Then we have pCARS which has every gimmicky graphics setting you can think of, it looks beautiful but not true to life. It seems AC has the most photo-realistic graphics yet. The colors are a bit pastel-like but still better than iRacing and pCARS.

One thing I really dont like about AC graphics so far is the shadows, especially the tree shadows on the dashboard look kinda bad in the Ferrari trailer. But they still have time to improve and its not a dealbreaker.

Hmm, sunset in lots of media so far... is it going to be like Forza with just the sun changing or do you think we're actually going to get full dark as well?

They've already said there will be no night racing on release... Maybe they'll give us a nice surprise!!

What do you mean "remember NKP"? That was a Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, not a 250 GTO

Anyone else think this game has a "GT-like" graphics quality to it? Like what we would probably expect GT6 to look like?

No I don't think so, the excellent lighting engine of GT5 is quite unique, I've never seen anything really similar to it and I don't think this is either. I mean it's good yeah, but it doesn't really make me think it could be GT6 in any way.

Honestly I've always though the lighting engine in GT5 sucked. The weather & day/night tracks lighting is great, but the standard lighting leaves much to be desired. I know Kaz said he wanted it to be like "a perfect day at the track" but honestly, how often does that happen?

I love running the weather tracks at 25% weather and no rain, give's it a more realistic feel.

Lighting is great in this game, the build I tried earlier this year was just beautiful, everything was perfectly smooth and great on the eye. Difference to GT5 other than being just smoother(due o higher FPS count) that sterile perfectly dead look and feel is not there.
If GT6 comes out on the PS3 I highly doubt it will have the overall quality this game has.

The lighting on the cars is excellent though, the models in GT5 are built/modelled in the same way as they are in Forza or any game but the lighting engine in Forza makes them look plasticy, the light works with the cars much better in the GT5 engine and it's one if the biggest advantages they have IMO. But this is off topic.

GT5 is a game with huge pottential, but unfourtunatelly held back by old outdated hardware and no direction.
If only we could get in those game files and fixed it ourselves!

A lot of people in different forums compare AC to GT5 all the time.

They say things like, " finally we get GT5 graphics in sims!"

A lot of hardcore simmers have always seen GT5 as having the best graphical quality of any car game. They're comparable since they both have that slight sterile kind of aesthetic. Maybe it's like a uncanny valley for cars? If that makes any sense :>

pCars will definitely take over, but not on consoles still, just PC and thus overall.

Definitely makes sense, P-CARS in my opinion is going beyond that in some cases to the point it looks unreal or impossibly good. Guess it's hard to stay within the lines when you have so much power and tech on your hands...

Can't wait for the community to start posting awesome screens once we finally get it. Gotta love Kunos but they've been putting out some random quality shots lately :P

That being said, so much bimmer fun in this shot

You can find me in the old M3s.

You are too diplomatic Jav, it is also held back by their developers: I can eventually tollerate standard cars but: too easy AI in career mode, no livery editor, (not even a pre-made skin editor like in Grid). No event editor, 1000 cars but you can't decide your opponents!! Slow annoying menu's.. wrong sound for many cars..
Basically after completing GT mode I found myself running in arcade mode trying to exploit the silly matching system as much as I can, or I should settle my life for online racing schedules, and still it has not been perfect because of lags, bugs and disconnections.

PS I know you already know this stuff. What I want to say is I don't care about having the ultimate "lighting on the cars" (technically they are called "shaders" ) nor I'm not interested on the ultimate dynamic shadows when I can't have the basics.
That said, AC graphic looks good enough to me. If they ask me the could stop working on graphics NOW.

I agree with the post above, you got a +1 from me ! :D

Yeah, visually speaking GT5 is really good. There is no doubt that the guys at PD know what are they doing with their shaders***.

*** http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shader ***

But in fact the more the shader are complicated and the more it will cost and kill the framerate.

When you look at the real time shadows in GT5, it just looks very bad.
And also that premium and not premium car stuff is just ridiculous...

So, yeah GT5 really feel unfinished.
I don't know but i feel like the creator of GT is tired a little bit tired of it and is lacking of new ideas to make GT evolve in the good direction..

I just wait he prove me wrong in the next GT ;)

Asseto Corsa is totally different thinking.
First remember that Asseto Corsa is a small team of people! The quality they already achieve is just outstanding!

When i know the budget PD have, they have no excuse!

AC team have a very tiny budget and i would not be surprised if you tell me that some members of the team have a secondary part time job.

Can't wait to see more of AC!

(Forgive my bad English).
