Pffft, that car's been available on console for months now. That said, I really want to try the GT4. Very, very badly.

Screenshots of AC are such strange animals . They manage to look both realistic and not at the same time. Am I alone in thinking this?
My issue with AC graphics is that its photorealistic, not realistic. Instead of going for what an eye can see(basically akin to an HDR image - a good HDR image -_-) they seemed to have been directly rendering from photographs making it so you either get shades that are pitch black or highlights that are blown.

Yes, that's exactly my issue too. That's why I always use mods that disable the auto exposure.

Sounds to me that Kunos is now indeed the premium partner for Porsche for the virtual world. Their interest in e-Sports is an important point, because Assetto Corsa isn't the most popular game online. I guess some people are playing multiplayer on PC, but that isn't a huge crowd. On console, the online multiplayer isn't playable at times because no one is at the server at all. Console multiplayer is a ghost town and it will be really hard to change that. Private lobbys might come too late.

However, if Porsche really wants to push the e-Sport side of things, they might consider funding a Porsche-only version of Assetto Corsa build from the ground up with online competition in mind? Maybe something like GT Sport, but with the physics engine and all the car data from AC. With such a huge company like Porsche interested in working so close with Kunos, i wonder how long Kunos will stay independent. There might be a small chance that this team will be part of Porsche at some point, which is fine to me, but i could be a hard decision for them as a team.
I know absolutely nothing about e-Sports, but I have been hearing that term quite a bit in the last year or so. The television cable network, TBS, has been broadcasting a 2 hour program of multiple "teams" playing head to head CS:GO. I've only spent about 5 minutes watching, but there is a huge audience there and for a cable network to dedicate 2 hours of programming means they're definitely taking it seriously.

I hope this relationship with Porsche remains a wonderful benefit for both companies. It is very good to see even a glimpse of an actual upper level Porsche employee talking about their happiness with this new partnership. Deals like this don't happen overnight, obviously, and I believe it was this video that mentions Kunos and Porsche were already having very preliminary talks as far back as three years ago.

Finally, it appears that Porsche is extremely happy with Assetto Corsa Pro. Hearing that their works teams use AC Pro, even if it's only to memorize track layouts, is encouraging as well. Hopefully, if Porsche is going to continue using AC Pro in their Porsche Experience Centers and wherever else, that will mean they want to have newer models in AC Pro as they appear in the real world. Porsche 911 GT2 anyone? :D

1.10.1
- Fixed Porsche Cayenne Turbo S not working

Edit:
- Improved tyre load formula
@lord Kunos pls elaborate

Lord Kunos: too math intensive to dive into it. The net result is a more "violent" load change over bumps, it is nothing massive but big enough to be felt through the FF... I think, might be placebo tho.
That's the best description on the changes necessary for the Cayenne. :D

Natural Graphics Mod has been my favorite for a long time. I'm actually not using it right now because I installed the Good & Bad Weather Mod which comes with it's own PP Filter. However, I do plan on trying the Natural Graphics Mod with the Good & Bad Weather as well.

So PS4 wheel is in the works, confirmed by Poseidon himself :D:

A bit late to the party, but I finally got to try the 2 Porsche Packs! Really really happy that Porsche is finally coming to sim racing after escaping the evil clutches of EA. I sincerely hope this is the end of exclusive licensing SNAFUs in sim racing (or any racing game in general really) 👍

Some reviews on each of the cars (wall of text incoming):

Pack 1
718 Cayman - first car I tried. Surprisingly nimble and easy to drift. A bit down on power though but that's ok. Sounds also feel a bit muted.
Cayman GT4 CS - this car's grip and balance is immense. So easy to drive fast and on the limit. Love it. It will make some nice battles with the Maserati GT4.
Panamera - dat Iron Man rear spoiler is cool, but besides that, um...not much else to say really. It's free so I can't really complain, but I've never been a fan of luxury barges.
911 Carrera S - first try of an RR Porsche and I'm a but unimpressed. I was expecting to be able to drive this car with the throttle, but all I get are gobs of understeer. Generally the car just feels too sluggish and heavy. I'm conscious of how fat 911s have gotten over the years, but it has always been praised in reviews and such as the best handling sports car on the planet. I'm not seeing that with this.
918 Spyder - expectations were sky high with this, and like the Carrera, I was also quite disappointed. I just watched the Grand Tour's review the day before (and memories of Chris Harris' review is still fresh in my mind), so I expected this car to obliterate my P1 and LaFerrari times around Silverstone National. Same tires, same settings, it's 1 second slower than the P1, which is 0.3 sec slower than the LaF. Wut? Understeers everywhere, high speed and low speed. I dunno, it feels like the front electric motors aren't working to pull the car out of corners or something. Granted, AC isn't the best when it comes to simulating 4WD cars (GT-R, Alfa 155 and quattro always felt a bit weird to me). I sincerely hope Kunos messed up the physics on this car because it's really not representative of the real thing.
911 RSR - now onto the older cars and boy this is where the fun starts :D Generally the newer Porsches are boring to me, but these old death traps are absolutely amazing. There's a mod for GTR2 called Power & Glory with this exact car made by Aris as well, and I can clearly feel the spiritual connection here. Sounds great, looks great and you can do a smooth 4 wheel drift on the limit with the throttle and minimal steering input :D Heaven.
917/30 - the Turbo Panzer. As Jeremy Clarkson says, lots of poo came out while driving this car  I tiptoed for my first lap around Historic Silverstone with 10% boost, and on 2nd lap I cranked it up to 100%. BOOOOOMMM!!! It shot off down the straight like a bat out of hell. First corner I left it too late, brakes squealing and I went off track and into oblivion. 11/10 would crash again :D Only slightly disappointed that it's rated at 1200hp in-game though. Anyone knows if we can unlock the full (allegedly) 1500hp quali version?
Moby Dick
- heard lots of great things about this car from the old DRM mods in rFactor and RRRE, but never actually got to try it. I have to say, it's a nice medium between the 911 RSR and 917. The long body really makes itself known in the polar inertia, but surprisingly it's a manageable car.

Pack 2
718 Boxster Manual & PDK - similar to the Cayman pretty much. Good balance and easy to drift. Honestly I see why Porsche is considering ever closer to an MR 911. The purists will cry but personally I'll take MR over RR for modern day Porsches.
Cayman GT4 - I was expecting a slightly less grippier car than the GT4 CS and that's exactly what I get. Good car, but again not much to say really.
911 GT3 - similar to the Carrera S it felt heavy and ponderous. The extra aero helps obviously, but it's just not as good as what I expect from reading rave reviews. Maybe my expectations are just too high :indiff:
Cayenne - heavy and body rolls like a boat but damn it's fast down the straights. It'll make a nice sparring partner against the Levante but otherwise it's just a novelty car. I'm interested to compare it against the Macan in Pack 3.
718 Spyder - back to old cars again. I don't know what to expect from this but it's a really fun car :D Light on its toes, great sound and looks very unique. Would have preferred the 550 personally but this works too 👍
962 Long & Short Tail - I'm anticipating driving this car due to its history and overall Nurb lap record, but it doesn't feel that fast to me. Handles similar to the other Group C car (C9). I can't really feel any difference between the long & short tail but I only did 1 lap each. Sound is ok but I have driven rFactor mods that sounds much more brutal and that's missing from Kunos' version.
911 GT1 - lots of memories of this car from NFS PU on the P1. Back then this was the fastest Porsche ever. I adore its looks (and still do). Handles really well in game but again I was expecting it to be faster for 600hp. I think the 917/30 really screwed up my expectations of speed lol.
919 Hybrid - best car so far hands down  Sticks like superglue and accelerates equal to an F1 with full hybrid power  The flywheel sound during braking could be louder though, and it doesn't cut off during accel even when the blue bar is off. I'd like this addressed in a future update. Otherwise it's fantastic playing around with the different hybrid modes. I'd also like an option to lift the 8MJ restriction on the hybrid boost. At Nurburgring for example it runs out way too quickly (SF15T also has this problem which makes hotlaps not a true representation of the car's speed). Also the next pack is supposed to have the 2016 version? I don't follow WEC closely enough to know if there's any difference so someone can enlighten me?

Overall, I would say that I'm generally quite happy that I get my money's worth for the 3 packs. I can understand their need to pad the list with newer cars and promote Porsche's latest models, but I would like to see more historic models. I have a feeling that some of these cars are not finished though. From the physics department some of them just feels spotty. Compared to the Japanese car pack for example where everything feels perfect as I expected. Given the size of the team pushing this amount of content in a few short months is nothing but a monumental task however and I'm happy if they continue to polish these cars with future updates 👍

My dream Porsche Pack 4:
356
550 Spyder
914/4
924/944/968
928
959
911 Turbo (930)

And Porsche Pack 5:
911 Turbo (993)
911 Turbo (996)
911 GT2 (993) (Road & Race)
911 GT2 RS (997)
RS Spyder
Carrera GT

Hey Kunos, you taking notes? :P

Slightly not relevant, but I'm wondering why brownninja was banned?

Great post, but on the 919 Hybrid, it isn't a flywheel hybrid system and from what I've seen the noise of the harvesting in-game is pretty similar to onboards of the real car.

It isn't? Oh well that tells you how much I follow WEC  In any case, this is what the real car sounds like:

The harvesting noise is there in-game, but it's not loud enough compared to the ICE noise. Also during acceleration phase you can hear the system petering out in real life, which doesn't happen in-game (it's just constantly there). Little things for sure and I still love driving the car, but I had hoped Kunos would get this part right.

So after buying AC plus a g920 wheel for my xbox and being so disappointed, today i got out of bed , went to my local Harvey Norman store and bought a decent enough Acer pc come home and made a steam account.. AC downloading now:embarrassed:

I finally bought a PC too! I can't wait to see the differences between what I played on PS4 and now my PC experience.

Yeah true this weekend it's a good time to stock up on games with the steam sales 👍
I went for Farming Simulator 2015 for 10 bucks :dopey:

ps. I didn't even know who Gabe actually was, i always thought the fat dude was a 'generic PC master race nerd'. Thanks for the tip i'm checking him out now.

Apparently what the drivers hear and what the onboard cameras pick up is quite different. I know it's slightly different but speaking with Andre Lotterer he said that you can barely hear the system at all when driving. And that's in the Uber quet R18.

Snip .. nice review ...

Slightly not relevant, but I'm wondering why brownninja was banned?

Here's why :

brownninja97 - 6th November 2016 - Having accumulated a whole boatload of points for refusing to follow the most basic requirements of the AUP, taunting the staff about it will not end well.

From the always fun to read : https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/banned-user-log.70684/#post-1897309

Not sure what basic requirements of the AUP he refused to follow there, but taunting staff is sure to be the express checkout.

I haven't had much time for AC at all lately, but I gotta say, I'm totally in love with the GT3 RS! What a delightful machine, nice to slide. Anyway, tonight I did a few laps at Bridgehampton in the RSR (my favourite in the game, I think). It is a brilliant combo, driving Nirvana. Start the lap heading towards the crest and all you can see is the forest over the crest and you leave it in fifth, start to turn before you can even see over the crest, and glide it through turn 1, sideways. Brake on the slide down to 4th for turn 2. Awesome bit of track, only beaten by the bit before the long carousel, where you get it up to fifth, then brake whilst on the slide again down to 4th again for the left hander before approaching the carousel. What a track and machine.

I was wondering why Brownninja wasn't around here lately. Honestly I can't remember one post of his being offensive, is it a one month one or a permanent ban?

Most likely permanent, the banned user log description says accumulating a whole boatload of points ( warning points ) and taunting staff seems to be the final straw.

Maybe this post have something to do with ban hammer : https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/posts/11595283/
That's taunting staff bad enough for a permanent ban? :odd:

Anyhow off topic, but a loss for the community here IMO as he's one of the insiders on the AC front when it comes to modding or Kunos.

^That post is hardly offensive. It surprised me because he always strikes me as quite corteous and generally not a troublemaker. Sure things can get argumentative sometimes but we all have those moments. Oh well, I'll miss his insights into the dev team at Kunos and modding scene.

Only mod or admin knows the detail, maybe @Famine could shed some light on this ? I think what leads to ban may have been from PM with mods ( not posts on threads ? ) Accumulating warning points also hints that brownninja have been doing this ( not following AUP ) for a while, though I never see one posts that could be breaking AUP :odd:

Sometimes his writing can be interesting like starting sentences without proper capital letter, but I don't see that as ban worthy.

Other than the banned user log (which is by no means compulsory for staff to fill out), we do not share the details of any individual's status regarding warnings and infractions - including bans - with anyone but the individual themselves.

As the banned user log states, this particular individual acquired a great many points for refusing to abide by the most basic requirements of this site's acceptable use policy (to which all members agree to abide by) and showed absolutely no signs of any willingness to change their ways, despite more than enough chances given to do so.
