The AI in R3E taught me how to take the turn. I'd never seen that track before R3E so when I was first driving around it in practice the AI kept ramming my rear bumper which made me realize maybe I didn't need to be lifting so much.

Yep, that sounds like R3E AI. :D

You drive the Maserati 250F there? Good God, man! I have trouble with those cars at Monza! That's a flat, straight circuit. I don't know why, but I find the 6 cylinder scarier to drive rather than the 12 cylinder.

It's awesome there :D

The 6 is a pussycat compared to the 12... the 12 pretty much just wheelspins the whole lap in every gear :D:D:D

My arms can only take about 4-5 laps of constant oversteer correction before they seize up

I took the 911 GT3 R there last night just for the hell of it. The fast bit through the dunes was undriveable! Literally bounced me off the road if I went flat out

I was able to tune that out with some heavy-handed suspension tinkering, made for a pretty quick Nords tune 👍

The base tune on the R is pretty horrible - way too stiff, and lacking travel! I wouldn't fancy it at Zandvoort

It's a decent circuit. The current configuration would never be approved for Formula 1 racing. The track is too twisty, without enormous runoff areas at every turn. There's also a big banked turn, which was fun for me in my Lotus Evora GTC, but isn't there a rule against banked turns - a certain number of degrees the track can't exceed? Unless I'm mistaken, but I've not seen anything like this sweeping banked left-hander on a modern F1 layout.

Maybe they'll make some design changes and there will be a future for this circuit. Sadly, I'm sure the design changes will remove all of its character. The middle section is fun. So, that would have to go, immediately!

This is the outline.png file that comes with the track so you can see the layout. The black line I drew is approximately where the start finish line is. I forgot to draw an arrow denoting the direction of the track. You would crossing the start/finish line from right to left. That is the direction of travel. Sorry.

That looks horrid. Looks like one of those lame small boxes or even the GT6 track creator where you keep drawing lines until it ends.

Ugh...I know what you mean about getting dead arms after driving those Maserati's... Damn...I always had more trouble keeping the 6 pointed straight. I assumed it was tranny related 4spd versus 5spd -- I would keep revs higher in the 6, I think. That's my assignment for today. I'm going to pack up the trailer with both Maserati's and me and my pit crew are heading to Zandvoot! :D

I've seen some psychopath's tearing up Zandvoot in Formula 1 cars. I can't even handle these cars on a track like Nurburgring GP. And they're on Zandvoot?!

So, you're saying you're not a fan? :D

It's a little gimmicky - like I said, that long sweeping left that's banked like Monza's sopraelevata turns...that's gotta go. That blind drop into a bus stop chicane which happens to be right in front of the pit entrance?! That's gotta go. I think if they made a few changes it would be a cool track. I like the infield twisties but they would never, ever be approved by FIA without a football field of runoff area everywhere. :(

Definitely not. It has no character. I like a track that has good flow and good fast corners with some slow tricky ones. Istanbul can be like that. Subtle elevation is nicer. Not feeling like Scalextric. Too many blind spots.

If one is going to do huge elevation do it like Circuit of Americas where one end starts to flow uphill while coming down the other. Or like Spa with a natural hill. A long straight somewhere is handy so you have time to twitch, poke about with your gear for a short 4 - 5 second breather.

Even Interlagos has lovely non blinding elevation.

There is also no safety for medical cars and such.

Zandvoort is another road course I love. Has the right amount of shaky bumps. Subtle flow of elevation and subtle off camber corners to throw the rear out. In between having a lovely fast to slow chicane.

There is no passion and love being thrown into that Dutch track. It feels like making it for the sake of making it with too many extremes and no thinking of real life safety.

lol. Did anyone actually watch the whole video? He made small changes which he thinks they should do, also made larger changes which made the track better. The original design is a poor one for F1 cars, it looks like it's constantly trying to restrain the cars.

And then we have Mad Max. He told afterwards this was at 75%....

Wow...From that view it seems like the track surface has been smoothed a bit.

I thought that this proposed track looks sort of arbitrary and dumb, but the whole "keeping the track between the two big grandstands" thing is actually a good idea. Make it more about the spectators.
For a Formula 1 track, not so good -- but if they made a few changes I think it'd be a pretty cool layout for GT3 or GT4 classes.

Can anyone explain to me what's going on in this video at Portimao? Skip ahead to the 8m00s mark. You'll see all the cars on the grid that were in their spots get going, but no one overpasses each other. You can either watch the entire first lap / formation lap or you can skip ahead to 10m20s when he patiently starts climbing the hill and is coming up on the start/finish line. You can hear the voice from some app and then look at the top portion of his middle monitor. Have you ever seen that displayed?

Rolling start?!? What kind of witchcraft is this?? :odd: And where can I get me some??

On top of the screen you'll notice it says OSRW Race Admin. Google took me to this - http://www.osrw.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=12604

The Reddit league ACRL also has their own rolling start app. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26033135/ACRL_App_v1.1.zip

What does OSRW mean? I've seen those letters on tracks I've downloaded and every now and then I see it on forum threads.

Wiz
It's a racing league. OSRW is just the acronym for said league, not sure what it stands for.
Oh geez....Ok. I didn't know that. Thanks for clearing it up for me. I was actually meaning to ask that question for many months and I kept forgetting.

Does anyone know the model year of the Toyota Supra in the J-Pack?

I'm scrolling through my cars in Content Manager and all three have '1979' listed as the Year. Even I know that's not right. :D  I wonder if it has anything to do with the description/info box for this car. It starts off talking about the 1979 Supra's engine and then goes on about the successive models.

You can tell by reading some of these information about Supra :)
Does it have VVTI engine ? Is it RHD or LHD ? Japan/JDM Supra is different to US/Export Spec ( power/torque, turbo, cam, injectors, air sensor, body-bonnet scoop, headlight, front spoiler, brakes, torsen LSD-optional for JDM non 6MT, final drive etc )
The VVTI 2JZ starts from Sept 1997 to the end of production in 2002 ( also called Series II ), it offers more torque, Early Supra TT RZ has 16" wheel, ( pre 1995 ), post 1995, 17" wheel are fitted.
If there's super bright yellow paint color available, then it must be series II, as the color only offered from 1998 onwards and AFAIK, only on JDM Supra.
Pre 1996, Torsen LSD uses worm type, from April 1996 onwards, helical gear is used. This is simulated with clutch pack LSD in AC, as Lord Kunos said himself, torsen is not simulated in AC, only clutch pack LSD is simulated.

The easiest way for differentiating generation model is looking at gear ratios, the series II ( 1997 onwards VVTI 2JZ ) uses Getrag V161 6 speed, JDM final drive 3.266, while export version 3.133. Non US export model has unique bonnet scoop not offered anywhere else ( this was featured in Best Motoring, Supra TT with factory bonnet scoop ) :) US market Supra never had VVTI, sales/export to US ended in 1999.

Is everything all right at Kunos? Last update (except for useless fictional track) was like in december

What? They just released 1.12 a few weeks ago which brought a new track, a new car, timed races (finally!!), new car inertias, brake temps on a lot more cars, V10 tires on all the remaining cars, and several other little things, and there have been three small updates since then to put us at 1.12.3. Christ, some people just can't be pleased.

The 4th generation Supra in AC was launched in the 1990s. It sounds like a typo no one noticed despite the three different versions. No one in their right mind would connect the MKIV to 1979. :odd:

You didn't see the forthcoming cars Marco showcased earlier this year? I'd be surprised if those won't start appearing in AC over the coming months.
