That's a ridiculously awesome price! Considering it's the PC version we're talking about, which has the ability to run mods, user created apps, PP Filters...you name it.
Anyone who's picking up Assetto Corsa (Steam PC version) during this great scale needs to also head over to http://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html and download the free version of Content Manager. I strenuously recommend you "purchase" the full version of Content Manager by submitting a donation to the program's creator @x4fab. There is no minimum amount required...a $5 is generous, I'm sure. After a few weeks of using Content Manager instead of the standard Kunos game launcher and you'll understand why people rave about it.
For n00bs who also get Content Manager:
The fastest way to have Content Manager run was to set it to "UI Module" in Settings > Content > Content Manager > Drive. It's the very first option on the page called Game Starter. Setting it up that way really sped up the loading of cars & tracks each time you headed out for a new combo, but you had to also have Kunos's launcher running in the background. It wasn't a huge resource drain or anything, but it was an active program requiring memory and such.
@x4fab has created a few more newer ways to set Game Starter. I recommend setting it to AppID. Now you don't even need to have the Kunos launcher running in the background anymore!! AND...it seems to be the fastest performing option of the bunch. He is currently in testing mode of allowing us to run Content Manager as a Service which will be even faster than AppID. You can read more about the different Game Starter options available with Content Manager where you make the change...you'll see a little question mark after the words Game Starter. Click on that and the help menu pops up showing you the pro's & con's for each method.
So many new features have been added lately that I am still discovering new things almost every day. One of the really nice things about CM is the ability to modernize almost any old car mod you might have. Maybe the sounds don't work anymore because of the FMod update...or the mod has really old Tire Model v5 tires and you'd like them to have v10 tires like all the official cars...or the exhaust flames are a mess, Pit Stop parameters are missing (this is VERY often with mod cars...lazy creators ). With a couple of mouse clicks Content Manager will fix all of that and much more. The developer of CM is a freakin' magician.
EDIT - Not so much a noob as I thought.
I did a search and found a Content Manager folder in Users\Blah\AppData\Local - backed up the folder, deleted it and then reinstalled from the download installation file and all working fine
Left this post up as it might help someone else to know that if you get a problem with the Content Manager installation, you can find it in that folder and delete and reinstall it and seems to work.
Looking forward to having a play with the Content Manager later. 👍
