Ahh, ok. For some reason I though that was something else :dunce:.

Thank you

As far as I know it's just a non-track-specific slot to store setups in. I store mine in there all the time so I don't have to try to remember what track I was racing at last week to find a setup. If I make any tweaks to the base setup I'll then save it to that specific track but the base stays untouched in the Generic slot.

Just for kicks I tried the Nvidia optimization for Assetto Corsa and omg, no good! Turned it into a stuttering, lagging mess! I even used the slider to push it all the way to the performance end and the same. Way to go Nvidia.

Do you have any mods installed? I had that happening to me once and it was because of a broken mod.

I do, but honestly even if if was pretty smooth I didn't like all the reflections and sun rays anyway . I do think a couple of mods have some issues though, I will delete them due to your experience.

Thanks

I loaded up the Ferrari SF15-T this afternoon for kicks. I swear to God, when I was driving it, in my mind it felt like I was watching a replay video on 4X speed. Right - Left - Left - Right...my brain would still be on that first Left. I know it's not the fastest Formula car we have either. Still, everything happens so damn fast. Too fast for me.

After I destroyed my car 100 times I called it quits. I proceeded to my next combo - Ferrari Enzo on Nurburgring short GT circuit. The Enzo felt like I was driving a VW Beetle compared to what I had just experienced in the SF15-T. Amazing.

:lol::lol::lol::lol: Just keep at it! Try it at Spa, fun track and the car can stretch its legs a bit. Turn the brake setting down to 80-85,really helped me keep the car on the track.

Give it another shot :cheers::gtpflag:

You would have cracked up if you saw my second lap...I took it easy on Lap 1. You know, put some heat into the tires and get a feel for it. Lap 2 I put the pedal to the metal. I'm doing about 196-197 mph and the braking zone for the hairpin turn is coming up. OH CRAP! Hit brakes...downshift like crazy and end up almost at a complete stop at only the 50 marker - doing about 10 mph...   WOW. This thing has some serious brakes.  :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :D :D

So, the rumor has been that "Wind" will be simulated in a future update. This rumor started based on a screenshot - I'm assuming it was Stefano's computer screen, but I don't know for sure - where you could see a measurement of wind speed next to the air temperature. Just thought I'd pass that along...

Several people have messaged me asking about a lot of different Content Manager features...particularly the CM Showroom. So, I figured I would just throw this up to let people see how easy it can be to tweak a car, visually to your liking. 👍 Oh, before I forget. This video was created by Schnipp over on the AC Support Forums:

Thanks for the info bud. Can you actually edit the skins in CM? If so, is it baked in or do you need extra software?

Thanks

Well, you can make changes - just like Schnipp did in that video...however, you need to create the actual .DDS file in something like Photoshop or GIMP or Paint.NET (I think all three support .DDS files, at least via a plugin). What is shown in the video is a simple rim color change and I would probably use this method only for simple color changes. Wings, Rims, Spoilers or other parts that I want to be solid colors. If I were going to make an actual skin with logos & sponsor stickers, numbers, etc. then I would bite the bullet and just do it the old fashioned way. In one of those applications I mentioned, create .DDS files and save them with the appropriate name in a new folder. I think all Kunos cars come with templates that can be used to help make the skin creation process do-able.

I've never created my own livery from start to finish, but I have modified a few and it is a bit of work...especially when you don't know what you're doing yet, like me. If you were hoping that you can just move a slider to change colors, CM can't do that. At least, not yet. Who knows what the hell x4fab will come up with next. He's a mad scientist! :D But, if you create the files in an image editor like Photoshop, let's just say for the doors. Then yes, you can just use CM to apply the new doors file you just created. I hope that answers your question...unfortunately, I don't know a lot about some of these newer features in CM. The program has changed so much since I first installed it. But, I think all of the changes have been for the better - maybe the 16384 x whatever ginormous screenshots were a little bit of overkill - he was just having some fun, I think. :nervous:

Aw,junk. I was hoping it would be a bit easier. If I just wanted to make a car white (Williams F1 car) is that hard? I am just have so much on my learning plate right now with getting the PC and DD wheel that I don't have any spare brain cells to try something else :lol:

Thanks bud

Just remember you likely won't be able to choose them online. Sadly I don't even bother with custom skins because since I don't really race offline they're basically pointless.
I haven't downloaded a ton of them, but I admit there are some I love wearing when I race the AI. If I were spending a bigger percentage of my AC time online I would be doing the same as you.

I think just doing a solid color shouldnt be too hard. When I reinstall Photoshop I'll give it a go for you. Just hang in there...I cant promise it will be in the next couple of days.

Hey thanks! No problem at all man. It isn't a really big deal, just not a fan of the Martini racing livery.

Appreciate it :bowdown::cheers:

True but they're good for track photoshoots.

Loved my rFactor photo days.

So I was playing AC last night after buying all the DLC I didn't already have (Porsche pass, Red Pack, Triple Pack, Dream Pack 2), I took the 935 to the Nurburgring tourist circuit and drove for a bit in VR until I felt motion sick (I really have to remember to find the 'lock camera to horizon' setting). I watched a replay after I stopped - which did nothing for my motion sickness - but in doing so I discovered something I really want: VR spectating!

I've been to the 'ring in real life, ten years ago, and sitting up at Metzgesfeld with a box of maybe 24 tiny beers bought from the Aldi just past the bridge was one of the more memorable weekends of my life (somehow). Even just watching tourist sessions was great fun, so a game or mode where you could just sit or stand by a circuit and watch cars go around (and then break onto the circuit at night and graffiti the course!) would be great.

FS7
AC & all DLC on sale 50% on Steam:

Bought a new laptop last week finally. Saw this and picked it up on PC. £11.49 (or £11.99) for the base game, I paid £14.99 for the base game plus the 3 Dream Car packs.

The Porsche season pass is down to £6.99 of thereabouts as well right now.

Already bought all this for PS4, but so few tracks and cars and I got tempted by the Ebolaland and Top Gear Test Track mods for PC - expect to see some laps on the YT channel soooooooon

That's a ridiculously awesome price! Considering it's the PC version we're talking about, which has the ability to run mods, user created apps, PP Filters...you name it.

Anyone who's picking up Assetto Corsa (Steam PC version) during this great scale needs to also head over to http://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html and download the free version of Content Manager. I strenuously recommend you "purchase" the full version of Content Manager by submitting a donation to the program's creator @x4fab. There is no minimum amount required...a $5 is generous, I'm sure. After a few weeks of using Content Manager instead of the standard Kunos game launcher and you'll understand why people rave about it. :)

For n00bs who also get Content Manager:
The fastest way to have Content Manager run was to set it to "UI Module" in Settings > Content > Content Manager > Drive. It's the very first option on the page called Game Starter. Setting it up that way really sped up the loading of cars & tracks each time you headed out for a new combo, but you had to also have Kunos's launcher running in the background. It wasn't a huge resource drain or anything, but it was an active program requiring memory and such.

@x4fab has created a few more newer ways to set Game Starter. I recommend setting it to AppID. Now you don't even need to have the Kunos launcher running in the background anymore!! :D AND...it seems to be the fastest performing option of the bunch. He is currently in testing mode of allowing us to run Content Manager as a Service which will be even faster than AppID. You can read more about the different Game Starter options available with Content Manager where you make the change...you'll see a little question mark after the words Game Starter. Click on that and the help menu pops up showing you the pro's & con's for each method.

So many new features have been added lately that I am still discovering new things almost every day. One of the really nice things about CM is the ability to modernize almost any old car mod you might have. Maybe the sounds don't work anymore because of the FMod update...or the mod has really old Tire Model v5 tires and you'd like them to have v10 tires like all the official cars...or the exhaust flames are a mess, Pit Stop parameters are missing (this is VERY often with mod cars...lazy creators :P :sly:). With a couple of mouse clicks Content Manager will fix all of that and much more. The developer of CM is a freakin' magician.

I've seen you say that before but I never have to have the Kunos launcher running in the background. In fact, if I try to start CM with the Kunos launcher running it gives me an error that "CM failed to launch because an instance of AC is already running" (or something like that).

Edit: Obviously I didn't read the paragraph above that one. I just have CM running in whatever the default mode is, when I click "Go" to go to track the little Steam dialog pops up for a moment, then the screen goes black and shows the normal Kunos loading screen, 5-10 seconds later I'm on track.

Thought about you just now . I have been driving nothing but high HP, high downforce cars lately so I loaded up a GT car for something different. First three turns, straight off! Braking waaay too late being used to the grip. Downforce is my friend!

Yeah...if you were running with CM in plain ole normal mode you couldn't have the Kunos launcher running, but the downside was after every combo....when you hit the Quit button to go back into CM - each time Steam would disconnect. Then you pick a different car to drive and hit GO! and Steam has to load up again -- UI Module mode stopped that, but at the expense of needing to have the Kunos launcher running as well. Oh...and there used to be that problem where CM wouldn't sync up with your Steam properly so it didn't remember achievements or something like that. I just can't fully remember. If you set it to AppID now I'm pretty sure that should be the fastest available mode. HDD users will notice the benefit more than SSD users because SSDs are already super fast.

Next time you're in CM go into Content > Cars and select an older kinda crappy mod car and hit the Analyze button. It's crazy... Not only does it tell you pretty much everything that's wrong with the car (as far as being updated to v1.13 standards) but it will ask you if you want CM to fix it for you. In like 3 seconds all the problems are gone. I'm pretty sure you still have to do sound replacement the way we've always done it...thats why that button didn't go away - same thing with tires.

I just noticed that there is a "Setup" button in Content > Cars -- we can actually adjust, modify, edit, share & test car setups from within CM. I mean, ya...you still have to go out onto the track and drive the thing to see how they feel... but it'd still be nice if you were chatting with friends and you make a comment about something you don't like about the car and they say "Oh...ya wanna lower Front Bump settings to 2000 from 4000 stock". Now you can do it in the blink of an eye in CM and then test it later when you have more time and not have to worry about forgetting.

I'm going to talk to x4fab and Mathieu Labbe to see if there might be any value in integrating The Setup Market into CM. It can't hurt. Topaz has been working with x4fab and now SideKick is fully integrated into CM and that's great, in my opinion.
