I like it, I love it, I need it!

I've only done one lap so far, but it feels great. As CC570 says, the FOV is a bit weird; I'm playing on triples and it's like I've got my eyes right over the steering wheel. I kind of like it like that though, I don't really know why. I just tried to grab a screenshot with Afterburner but it didn't seem to like it too much...

I'm getting about 45fps with 4x MSAA and 16x Anisotrophic filtering (I love that word) at 5040x1050 on my 680 (slightly OC'd). That's about right, I get 60fps in Project CARS if I turn off MSAA and use FXAA instead, I think, I'd have to check and make sure I'm getting the acronyms right.

How does it compare to rfactor2 physics?

In my opinion it doesn't compare, Rfactor 2 isn't in the same league. Maybe the technology is there for Rfactor 2 to be good but Assetto Corsa isnt just good, it's amazing.

Only one car and track sure so it's still a bit early to say what I just said, but in terms of the car feeling and reacting properly, having weight and the way it behaves, the way you can feel the tyres through the wheel.. its just sublime. Nothing in Rfactor 2 has impressed me that much, there are some good car models, some not so good too but nothing with it has impressed me as much as AC.

I like it, really a fantastic job from Kunos. The driving itself isnt even the best part imho, thats the incredible UI and HUD management! Pure awesomenessness! On the track it feels great, very smooth and natural.

I have to say though, driving the pCARS Capri directly afterwards... AC feels a bit lifeless as of yet in comparison. Not much track details and the camera is very static.

Having had a play around with the settings, it seems that the very last video option (faces per frame) has the biggest impact on the frame rate. I can play with everything maxed except for 2 faces per frame and no FXAA (no point when you have 16x AA) and get a playable 40fps, turn faces per frame up to 6 and it drops significantly. I've found 4x AF, 4x AA, no FXAA, 2 faces per frame, no motion blur (because it doesn't work on triples), HDR on, maxed shadow and cubemap resolutions is the best compromise between looks and performance; it looks barely different to everything maxed as far as I can tell and I got 65fps on average.

No PS4 for me then. 👍👍👍

The menu looks so sexy!

After looking at comments from a bunch of other sites, the general consensus is that AC is nothing short of amazing.

I have a feeling that AC will be the physics standard from here on out.

How does it compare to rfactor2 physics?

Both are very good and both are Beta! rF2 physics is far from being complete!
I have both games, and I love both games ! rF2 has the Real Road tecnology, has variable weather, has the pit stop, day/nigh progression, has a better tires deformation !

AC looks fantastic as far as I can see and that seems to be the general consensus as well. I'm in love with the UI.

You can change the FOV by going into My Documents > AssettoCorsa > cfg > camera_onboard.ini

Open that and change the setting for "FOV" under "[MODE]" to your liking. Default value is 60. Punch in your number, save, and you're good. Setting it to a lower value brings you closer up in the car toward the windshield.

Here's some example screens -

With a triple screen setup you can change the FOV directly in the game!

I've only just noticed that! That's amazing. No more having to guess as to what the FOV should be to make it look right... I hope SMS are taking notes.

This and cars make me want a PC now, why can't I win the lottery*!!!

*It would probably help if I played.:P

This +1000 can't they release AC for consoles as well hahaha

Uhm, neema_t... you can adjust FOV ingame in pCARS for months now, you just have to assign the keys. ;)

Oh, fair enough. Last time I set it up I had a slider and just had to guess, try it, go back and repeat. Even so, AC's app thing is a really nice solution, I do hope it catches on.

Assetto Corsa on consoles will be pointless because you can't use mods. As you know Kunos will rely on mods as much as ISI does.

You need a NetKar Pro licence to play the tech preview with a wheel, it seems if you dont use a wheel then you can run the TP without a NKP licence.

Don't think so, when you boot it up it asks for your license and until you enter it you can't click anything except the exit button.

It's magnificent.

The driving is great.
The concept of apps is brilliant.
It looks amazing.

It is
Amazing.

I got this information from the official Assetto Corsa forums, where it was confirmed by the developers to be "as designed".

There are players who have been playing without a licence, so it must work.

Not sure how then, maybe they've changed it since they said that. It does say you can view the event but not control it but none of the buttons work, they turn into a no entry sign. The only option as I can see is to either enter a code or click the exit button.

It says in the game you can start a race but you dont have control of the car. (if i remember...) :)

It does yes but there is no way to do that unless I'm missing something. Like I say when you hover over the buttons they switch to no entry signs and can't be clicked, only the exit button can be.

Just did some laps. Don't really care for the FFB. Just feels heavy for the most part, nothing much else. Physics wise it's quite similar to pCARS but seems more finalized (especially tire model wise), which I suppose is good if they're both aiming to be as realistic as possible, they should feel similar. :D It's good fun, but I want more cars and tracks before I can really give any more in depth impressions about the physics. The grass is quite icy though (compared to what I'm used to in pCARS, but that's cause the grass hasn't really had much done physics wise in pCARS).
