Noticed this on their twitter:

I really hope they reconsider, the system is perfect for Kunos and AC with its PC architecture and self publishing model. It'd also save me from buying a new computer :sly:

Developing one of the best racing games AS WELL AS performing a high quality port is not an easy task for a studio of 100+. And how many people are in Kunos? 6?

And besides, just because they are both x86 does not mean that in a snap of fingers, a fully featured PS4 game will suddenly appear.

Well that's the thing, if the PC title is really successful then they'll do what most other developers do that sell ports later in a separate release: they'll outsource it to a developer that specializes in it.

Now that's not to say Kunos is like any other company, they definitely see AC as their baby, so I don't know if they'd be willing to do something like that. I think that as long as they get someone they know they can trust, or hire on staff temporarily for a port, they can pull it off.

But this is talking WAYYY ahead of ourselves, let's see how the title does first :)

I really don't see it being as succesful as the PC version. There is absolutely no way Sony, or Microsoft is going to put themselves in a possition where they could be found liable for any copyright infringement thank's to some third party content.

How could Sony or Microsoft be held liable for that? Is Dell held liable for copyright infringement that takes place on their computers?

As long as Sony and MS are not actively approving infringing mods, they have the same protections as any other company whose hardware/software is being used for nefarious purposes without their knowledge.

You play and distribute content trough their networks, any mediocre blood sucking lawyer will smell blood and simply go for a settlement. Now picture what the blood thirsty armies of lawyers behind the big companies would do with that!

ISPs have been working with this for years, it's why safe harbour laws exist. I don't see how PSN/XBL are any different to other content distribution networks. As long as they have a takedown procedure that is marginally functional, they're safe as houses.

I don't even see why they'd bother with settlements, after they'd bankrupted a couple of said mediocre blood suckers the rest would back off and find easier prey.

Yeah, that's how it worked with Guitar Hero: World Tour. In that game, which was a Rock Band clone, it had a "make music" tool. It was sort of limited, but people were still pumping out copies of hit songs. Certain ones (EMI/UMG mostly) would constantly be taken down though, not AC/DC though :). But yeah, it depends, obviously people making PC mods vs. in-game tools will have a ton more detail but the line doesn't blur there because the people making them don't make money off of it.

Anyway, just quickly wanted to share my UI set up with you all.

I like having the gear indicator and revs right in the center, so I can eyeball my speed easily. Replaced the "Tech Preview" logo with my racing group's. Got the "electronics" on the top left to see when that ABS is kicking in at a glance. And I like having my split data right at top center for picking up that info peripherally as I'm used to. Have my inputs down and to the left (JFK lol) to have it out of the way but still easy enough to spot if reference is needed.
Then there's the lap info, not sure I want it there anymore, I switch between there and the top right, can't decide which I like more.
And I have the readouts along the right side to get a sort of "dash meter" sort of positioning going.

Fixed

:D

Mr. S: What settings are you running to get 30fps? I have a 680 too and even at 5040x1050 I get over 30fps with everything except FXAA and whatever that bottom slider is maxed. If you're recording while driving I guess that would knock it down a bit. Oh, do you have V Sync on? 30fps sounds like it might be because V Sync has slashed your frame rate in half because you can't quite make 60fps.

VSync is disabled but I have the cubes set to HIGH and 6x - lowering it to HIGH and 2X is raising it to 55-60 already. One of the devs said cubes need lots and lots of performance, so that doesn't worry me. I'll try setting it to LOW and 2x and see what I can get out of it.

Then again, it's a tech demo - I don't expect the performance to be optimal yet. :D

Oh yeah, that will do that! I use 4xAA, 4xAF, no FXAA, no V sync, maxed shadows, maxed cubemap and 2 faces and I get a pretty solid 60fps at 5040x1050. Maxing AA and AF drops it to about 40fps which is still very playable but I prefer 60.

According to somebody on the AC forum, it is very important to turn off the GPU (graphics card) settings and play only with the graphics settings in AC (or something like that).

Don't use both settings at the same time. Don't override the graphic settings of the game.

I couldn't get my Nvidia control panel to even have an effect on AC. I tried enabling Vsync through it as well as SSAA but got nothing.

What settings are you running to get that? I think that I'm in the 50s with that card even with an OC.
res'-5760*1080p
Anisotropic- *4
antiaalisasing-*2
Shadow-medium, the shadow eats a lot of fps!
HDR-OFF, because there is no difference between HDR-ON and OFF!
If i turn on the HDR I still get 65-75fps!

Ps: I advise you to reset your video card, I mean, delete the OC', because AC is GPU dipendente and this causes the overheating of the video-card!
I think that you could have more performace without OC'!
However, I have the HD 7950 Flex edition which has more power than the basic one!

Really sad, I don't see why people see different sims as 'competition' to the one they like the most. The more the better as far as I'm concerned, why would you NOT want a game like AC on Steam?

And the thing is, AC actually needs Steam to use as a backbone for making updates easier and server support. iRacing literally only wants to use it for advertisement. A line should definitely be drawn there by Valve. But then again, Valve just went ahead and put WarZ back on the store so there's little hope for help there.

It is probably not as bad as it sounds as they are likely in the first place to have relatively few no votes. You have people spending a lot of money on iRacing so you are bound to get a few to click no on it due to seeing it as a threat, however it may even not be iRacing fan related at all.

False rumor, jumped the gun on that one. Misconstrued.

I took it way out of context. I read it as, " Update for TP. New screen: [to be included in update]"

And it's an Exige, wow, so off today xD

That is just stupid, simply stupid! So many stupid fanboys over at the iRacing forums! One of them started bitching about us commenting on the thread on the forums and tried to start a campaing to get the thread locked! Which BTW is one of the longest ones on the section lol! We quickly set him straight and send him on his way!
Back to the point, if you are not going to buy it, play it or even like it why give it a negative rating or give negative feedback of it? Stupid fanboys giving us iRacers a bad name in the community...

Any word on when that beautiful evora will be out??
