Why?? Other than iRacing there's nothing to compete with at all.
Other than racing games you have sports games, shooter games, adventure games. Loads of them coming out this fall (or already been released). ;)

And then you have GT6, which sure will take up alot of time.

Not really strong competitors for the core Sim Racing market.

OK, ok, I'm trying to calm down.

I'm downloading now, I've got about 4 minutes left, my wheel's ready to go.

Add me on Steam if you want btw guys:

I guess a few people are having the same problem as me. Once you hit start to go to track, a splash screen comes up saying it's loading, then a loading circle shows up for half a second... then nothing.

Yeah I read that before.
I have a fresh install of Windows 8, never had the TP. But for some reason, I decided to delete the Assetto Corsa folder from My Documents, and now it's worked. Wonder if I'll have to do this every time.

But yeah, that's the workaround for now.

So yes, now to the BMW GT2 car at Monza '66.

Alright, this guy saved me as well now. After I got it to work the first time, I backed out and it wouldn't let me load up again, same problem:

It was nothing to do with graphics. As turning settings off one by one didn't help. But customizing my inputs rather than going with the given profile for the G27 got it to work.

Am I right that the only way to get AC is through Steam? Now and forever or just now?

Forever, yes.

Bought it, DL it, launched it then blank screen. I followed the suggestions to delete the Documents/Assetto Corsa but the problem persists. Not pleased so far :|

[PSA] For those that aren't able to load to the track: do not use the default controller wheel profile. Assign all your inputs manually, and this should fix things. Don't know if this is just G27's or not.

That should do it @Voltaic

But wow! Is this game everything I wanted it to be. The feeling on track is surreal, so good. Just, it's great. I don't know.

Oh man, this is going to be so fun to race. The cars just make SENSE, that's all I can say. I'm deep in love.

Wardez

Once I launch and get past the game's splash I see nothing. If I hit Shift+Tab I get to Career, etc. and other options, which if I click the screen blanks. If I click "Return To Game" the screen goes blank. I never get to see any options for the wheel or game in general. I have deleted it and am re-DL it, hopefully it will fix it.

Update: no good, I can bring up the Main Menu and Career by clicking Shift+Tab, once I click them the screen goes back to the gray background. Frustrated.

Update 2: Figured it out, you must hit F11 then adjust the resolution + triple screens. The controls work fine except it seems to be stuck in automatic shifting :/

Well this is extremely exciting and also slightly disappointing, hopefully I won't have (m)any issues. Definitely still buying it now, though.

I've heard people have been having issues running triple screen setups and that first time running it you should use only one screen which should fix the blank screen issues.
Game feels really good for an early product.

I've had no issues at all. This is what I've tried

Ferrari 458 Italia at Silverstone International : Understeer city until you get the back end out then it turns into a drifting machine, a little underwhelming to be honest but I should reserve judgement until I've had more time with it.

Lotus Elise SC at Magione (as in the Tech Demo) - Thought it would be good to do a comparison. First off the car is a lot slower in pure laptime now, 2-3 seconds roughly. At the edge of grip it is nowhere near as understeery as before and turns in nice, oversteer is more predictable than before and to me feels more life like, crazy high speed slides are not so easy to catch however and spin out more like you would expect to in real life. Overall I think it is a definite improvement in terms of driving quality over the tech demo, it's a joy to drive.

FFB seems worse to me (in the Elise SC), not as detailed or "rubbery" feeling. I suppose you could say that it feels somewhat like a real car though I prefered the FFB feel of this car in the Tech Demo, its like the wheel feel is heavier and as a result the FFB effects are much less obvious, turning the gain down turns down the FFB effects just as much as it does the wheel weight, so it's much the same effect just lighter.

Also drove the Formula Abarth Open Wheel car around Silverstone, if you have driven NetKar Pro then this will feel very familiar to you, though I would say it is more refined in every aspect, FFB feels similar to NetKar but not quite as direct (I suppose a little more rubbery, but not Rfactor 2 rubbery). It isn't a very powerful car so it's not very exciting at Silverstone, but the car itself feels, acts and reacts exactly as you would want it to.

Thats as much as I've done, not had any issues so far and loving it overall.

One BIG BIG annoyance though. If you go out of the track bounds (and invalidate your lap) it gives you a time penalty and stops you being able to control the car properly (no throttle), this caused an accident for me at Magione. For example, I'd already made a mistake and lost time and needed to catch a slide, which would have been easy with the throttle, a certainty even. But due to the penalty cutting out my throttle I spun the car.

I hope that can be turned off or completely removed, there is no need for it.
