@RMi_wood

I have created a RainFX config for Buxton and Stockton 99 Speedway.
What I noticed in Buxton: When I started with Hotlap, the car was stuck in the ground. The shader for tire marks should be ksPerPixel Alpha. There is a commentary. Groove.ini: racing line and skidmarks | how-to
GrassFX was not applied in Stockton 99 Speedway, so I fixed the code.
As with both courses, it will look better if the road shader is ksMultilayer_fresnel_nm. There is also a commentary on this. Photo Quality Road Surface

I will take a look now, thank you for these suggestions and the effort.
Will release both tracks shortly on RD with all persons efforts involved will be included in credits ;)

Jumping away from the drama does anybody here know why does my calculated AO turn Black when i want to calculate it? even though in 3ds max i have already mapped them properly. Recently went back into modding from an hiatus.
In 3DS MAX

When calculated in CM

And when i put it on the model the textures are all black no indication that they have AO on them.

it because of the EXT Windows, you can onlny render the AO of the interior correctly if there are no windows

More car weirdness: the Porsche 930 SE Slantnose: five selectable forward gears, but fifth seems to be neutral.
Am I the only one actually driving these cars, lol?

In the setup you can choose between 4- ja 5-speed gearbox. I thought the 5. gear was broken and almost binned the car after I finally managed to get on the road with it.

There are many thing about that Slantnose that I would like to tweak to make it a great mod, but I guess I just gotta trust the original modder to know better...

i'm looking for a compact, sleek and minimal rev counter & speedometer that goes well with ACTV.

i tried the ELemental HUD but i's not suiting my taste; any help?

Someone mentioned that AC does a faux-5.1 but I don't know the whys and wherefores of that, all I know is that directional audio comes from the proper speakers in my 5.1 setup. Pretty essential for a sim racer, TBH, to be able to hear if a car is behind you on the correct side.
Sounds good to me, anyway.

Different subject, update for this car:

1990 Civic EF Sedan

Hi masscot thanks for the awsome update.....any chance you mite think of making the car stock height as well as fit the wheels of one of the attached cars...

will appreciate it.

Ah, thank you. Had me scratching my head that one, as fifth still shows up as being selected if the 'gear' app is turned on.
The LE has the same idiosyncracy too. Not sure why anyone would want to drive the four-speed, it runs out of gears very quickly. Oh well, choice and authenticity is good I guess.
I think I'd prefer the 5-speed to be the default one though. Still, no biggie. Very nice cars.

I agree that it's a shame the car can't be tweaked. I'm sure the cockpit is very nice but it's so dark in there detail is completely crushed into a black hole. Maybe that's why the clock is spinning like mad...*

At least I think the shifting animation can be changed for one that gets nearer to the gearstick - I don't think encryption blocks that from being tweaked.
Edit: just tested it with the animation from one of Ben's Singers and it works. It's better, but not perfect, but at least it works so a closer match is probably out there on another 911 somewhere.

*I know it's because I have time acceleration turned on

Yes, I did that - thanks. Be good to get the car updated by the modder so the tweaked setup doesn't need loading every time.
(I assume you still can't save a setup as the new default..?)

Here's a fix. Take suspensions.ini from BK mods Audi R8 GT3 Evo (almost identical but not quite) and replace the one that's causing trouble with the GTO with that one. It now works.

Thanks - KENNETH posted the fix a few posts up.

I don't do wheel swaps 'n' stuff but hopefully someone else will step in and make a more 'stock' version..?

You can select 'use tyre warmers' to mitigate

I do use tyre warmers by default but was still getting the error before applying Kenneth's fix.

Hi! Finally Wiper is ok now! Someone knows what is needed to obtain raindrop on windshield?

View attachment 965223

I've done "possible" what was "impossible" ;-)

Only base LM for now.

All credit goes to @Shokeus, wiper animation by me ;-)

Could the amount of 'wiper shake' at high speeds be toned down? The wiper looks broken, like it's about to come off. It's kind of distracting. Effects like this are best done in a very subtle, minimalist way. Less is definitely more.
:)

Edit: I'm not entirely sure what the various parameters actually relate to but this seems a lot more realistic to me. What do you think?

Code:
[WIPERS]
FRONT_0=wiperhand_SUB1
WIND_THRESHOLDS_KMH=150,250
WIND_AMPLITUDE_MULT=0.92
WIND_FREQUENCY_MULT=0.92
WIND_OFFSET=0.008

Here are a few things I've had a chance to work on recently. AI tested at 100% strength and aggression:

AI for zw_hockenheim 1988:
Attempted to get period correct F1 cars working well on this track. VRC McLaren MP4/4 and Formula 1988 mod by ?? will still have a couple cars drive off into kitty litter occasionally. Formula 1988s seem to respond to turning down aggression, VRC's, not so much. RSS 1990 V12's work really well. If you never drive open wheelers, you probably don't need these files (unless you are having accident issues), as ai with tin tops will be slower than that which came with the track.

AI for hockenheim 2001:
Not sure who made this or where to get it, sorry. Seems to be a Reiza/Automobilista conversion.

As always, backup your original files in case you don't like it.

the Porsche 930 SE Slantnose was available both 4 or 5 gear, the shifter in the car shows 4.

After ul'ing with YT compression, it doesn't look as bad but it is, especially stepping out of the car and replays.
Jerky shadows (like in the wheels). Yeah I could just disable dynamic shadows like for every version of the shader :mischievous: but wondering if anyone else is getting it and what a fix might be - or is this just a thing with the latest csp

Shader 1.66

Even so, I think it's weird choice to make a mod with a 4-speed gearbox with a non-functional fifth gear as default.

it's a bugger this encryption! it would be so easy to fix by swapping GEAR_SET_0 and GEAR_SET_1 and changing the order in final.rto, but this car will let you unpack data but not repack it, and it always uses its own data.acd so we are stuck.

@Masscot do you not find the Bo Singer shift.ksanim takes the driver's hands off the wheel?

Nooooooooooooo

i could have donated it to you :(

But some good news I have fixed the Zyteks and used those physics from the one in the mod onto Niel's and they indeed, fast in LMP1. I'll need to try to make them a txt cause I dunno how to add them attachments to here. the only problem with the data I've replaced the current ones which they had from the GRID mod is the lights.ini. I'll be doing this with the creations which I did with the zyteks (using the creation from that mod)

Agreed. I'll probably never drive either of these cars again because I'll inevitably forget to select the 5-speed option every time and it'll annoy the hell out of me having to restart and change the setup. Five speeds as the default seems to make a lot more sense. Plus, the cockpit is just unrealistically dark and it looks a little daft in VR, even in overcast weather which should lighten the interior evenly as it'll be getting diffused ambient light from all directions rather than from a single point source in bright direct sun.
Oh well, plenty more fish in the sea.

Interesting... could you not use the 'use unpacked data if it exists' option on the DRIVE screen, lower left-hand corner?

No, just seems to change the shifting animation.
Unless I already changed the shift animation on the Singers a long time ago of course...

Try the attached (edit the .txt from the end):

Yep, I've tried everything. It would be so easy... :odd:

Don't want to start the encryption-debate again, but sometimes I just feel like... Hnnnnnnnrgh!!! Who was it actually that invented and brought this encryption-thing to AC? Is he aware how much bad he has done in contrast what has been gained by encrypting the car-models?

Luckily there are enough non-encrypted cars to enjoy in AC for a hundred years. Already. There just ain't a Porsche like that Slantnosy one. Such a beauty, enjoyable just to drive in a flock of them, to watch them as they pass you by.

doesn't work, nor does deleting or renaming data.acd. It has to use its original data.acd to run.

Thanks for the animation, which I will try, but like you I am going off these cars.

The author of Content Manager made that "feature", now anyone knows who they can blame. Also in a perfect world there would be a lot of complaints against that nasty thing and the author could change his mind but most users of CM don't even realize that they use encrypted crap and what it means when someone changes an open world into a closed one or what it means to stole some 3d models and lock the result. Anyway I already put all the encryption cult in my ignore list so there won't be any endless sterile debate. :lol:

Had the chance of being near a Mosler, probably not the same you mentioned, but boy is it impressive. Didn't even know what it was until I checked it up close.
Beautiful piece of (British?) machinery. Would be awesome to drive one in AC :cheers:

I'll leave some pics I took, sry if long post ;)

Is that Jarama racetrack? When was that? I live near there and I don't remember a Mosler participated there
