Modding Plea #767

It occurs to me that, as a track converter, that there is one very simple thing that could help performance in a great way.
What is that?

A dedicated WALL collision mesh.

Without a dedicated collision mesh, tracks must use (sometimes) very complex 3d meshes to provide the collision boundaries.
Some tracks (particularly city tracks) can have hundreds of WALL meshes doing calculations all the time. This is most apparent with many AI on the track. I try to use original collision walls, but not all tracks have them or changes to a track make using the original a no-go.

We here on this forum have many talented "specialists" that do AI, Cameras, shaders, etc... but!

Unfortunately I cannot use 3d software well due to physical limitations.
Is there anyone willing to try their hand (pun) at doing collision walls for WiPs?

Can this be done on a per-car basis? Like you, I don't really want to set a universal toggle as it might overwrite personal tweaks.

Yes you can. Just select the car you want to update via the green 'V'. I am also not a fan of auto updating. This is the first time I updated via CM, 'cause the maker is uploading these via CM. And it's taking big leaps in developing atm.

Can you please remind me exactly where that's done? I've not faffed about with settings for a long time.

Is there a link for the updated car available ?
I don't like to update using the CM function...

With CM, clicking on "green inverted V" for selected car only start the download. Then you can grab the downloaded file in your system temp folder. It could be c:\windows\temp or wherever is located your %TEMP% system property. And then install it manually. Best of both world ;)

Thanks, but like I said - where exactly do you do this, where's this mod update function located? CM tab? CSP tab?

Edit: ah, is it the one in CM/content/tools/'check for content updates'?
Can't see a little 'green inverted v' anywhere, just a green 'yes' next to 'install in one click'.

In CM, the three lines at the top of the window after about menu.

edit : in CM, settings/content, you have the selected temp folder.
And "Mods auto-updates" must be filled with "https://acstuff.ru/cup/"
Thanks, much appreciated.
Not sure what the purpose of the section in CM/content/tools/'check for content updates' is unless it's for info only. You don't seem to be able to do anything in there.
Wonder if there's any merit to the rumours that were floating around a while ago about a new UI for CM.

CM Auto-update does try to merge the new car with your UI and skin previews.
Also, if you had an (unpacked) edited DATA, and you choose to merge, it will surely install a new data.acd
You still lose quite a lot of edits, that can be avoided with a side-by-side installation or by (like I did) creating a copy of the previous car and then do your stuff, so it becomes the same as downloading files manually.

So, that's total misunderstanding of an update;-)
There are big changes atm and i can recommend to use this function.

Just zip the car before Update. Then you can restore it in case you don't like....
In case you want to disable the update for the car change version to 999 or whatever and save.
So you don't get any update till version 1000 :-D

And if you have improvements for physics or whatever you do in data.acd archive it will be nice to share your thoughts/files via PM.

So no one can share the Bentley update here rather than use the bothersome CM autoupdater ? Last time I used it ASR clogged the 'download' section and I couldn't update anything (ok prompt disappeared under all the pending cars needing an update, nice UI that).
Bit of a convoluted method tbh.

Hello, guys!

PS need AI fix

Hello mate.

I really like Akina! Thank you for sharing.

Now I only wish some of our wizards be so kind, to add more pits and fix the AI.
There is a spot tho, right after the fast left, after the S/F straight. I took a photo from there.
Can you please, remove Batman? It seems he don't like cars passing near that barrier.

Cheers

Current updates contain only changes on Sprint version.
Updating Endurance version will be done as one of the last steps before 1.0. Because i have no time and motivation to maintain 2 versions in this state.

So drive sprint version ATM

Just a quick heads up.......color tach on dash is currently black

Could be the new CSP affecting it. More testing is needed to see what is causing it.

COVID or any events in the world have had absolutely zero effect on me, but oh man this has been a year I would like to forget. If I only could.

But there is one thing and one thing only that has made my existence little bit less unbearable and that's AC with it's mods and the modding community, you guys, this thread. I feel lucky that I found this game and everything around it (except for the encryption-BS and the futile debate about it : ) ).

And yea I'm a hypocrite, I read that another forum too and grab some stuff there also.

But anyway, thank you for the last 365 days.:gtpflag:
