A beauty for sure but... hmmmm

250 GTO

Yep that's a fair challenge.
The counter 'argument' to that, for want of a better word, would be the Karman ghia was a mass produced 'peoples' car so attainable, so for me that just nudges it.
Certainly if you worded it as the most perfectly designed attainable mass produced production car.......it cant have many challengers.

guerillia M4 GT4 isn't finished yet
Not sure what's going on with GUE. The M6 GT3 hasn't been available for d/l for 8 months now, and there's been no word as to when/if new cars will be released. Same thing with most of the other FB modding teams. Gentle Mind Performance is one of my favorites, but they haven't done anything since their (fantastic, btw) NSX NA2 was released way back in Dec 2018.

I am just going to put this out there.... for me the karman ghia is the most perfectly designed car ever in the history of cars....... any angle, it's just perfect.... most cars have at least one bad angle IMO.
I know this is off topic but anyone agree or can submit your counter evidence?

Just for fun.

Funny, just last weekend I had a conversation with an old friend on the other side of the country, and said that the Karman Ghia was just about the prettiest thing... he agreed, but insisted the Volvo P1800 was even prettier... All I really know, for their day, they both certainly stood out! Especially over here in North America... they'd fit inside the trunk (boot) of any contemporary American car of the time! :)

I agree, I have a '68 in white. Sadly it's not even close to the quality of the few pics posted here. I've also been debating on transplanting the VR6 and drivetrain from my '97 Jetta into the Karmann. I think that would be a blast to drive.

Now that my weekend has started, I can't wait to drive the Karmann that was posted a few days ago. And thanks to gstaraz for the skins!

Massively weird problem of the day... have this 2012 Ford Mustang GT4 car, which I'm pretty sure is converted from PCars and it actually seems like it's of relatively decent quality, it's fine in the CM Showroom and fine in the Kunos Showroom, but when heading out to drive it, part of the dashboard gets warped into the drivers face and out through the roof...

I've tried everything I can think of and it's only really my desire to get a broader range of GT4 cars on the grid that's prompting this post.

If anyone wants to have a go at making it work: https://sharemods.com/3zq8vpaivcr3/ford_mustang_gt4.7z.html

I am confronted with a serious problem. After spending weeks and weeks of finetuning my game with CM all of a sudden (without any real big change, apart from trying to go to family sharing in Steam) every single championship I try to start in CM gives a 'race cancelled' message, after which the launcher of AC itself takes over... Anyone any idea what could be the reason for this?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I appreciate the thoughtful reply, and it also seems to me that, if the suspension is done properly, the "feel" of the car then has much more to do with tire characteristics (and perhaps aero) than anything else. Again: If the suspension is already correct!

While we're on that subject, do you have an idea why something like the Kunos Nissan 370Z feels so sloppy and wobbly compared to the real thing? Had a buddy in the USAF who had a 370Z and I drove it a few times. It had very little body roll and a very stiff suspension in general. It was all a bit agricultural, but one thing it was not was sloppy. The KS 370Z has a totally different character than the real car.

To me it, feels like a tire problem. I've driven older cars with tall, compliant sidewalls and they had the same loose, wobbly feel to them (basically a big delay between steering inputs and the car settling into a stance). I'm using the 370Z as an example, but there are many street cars in AC that have the same issue: It's as if you're driving a modern car, but with the tires off a 1978 station wagon.

I took a look at the 370Z, and a few things I noticed:

Springs are quite soft, a bit softer than even R34 V-spec springs.
Dampers are very weak, around 0.3 bump and 0.5 rebound. Very, very likely the real car is closer to 0.7 - 1.0 bump and 1.0 - 1.5 rebound.
Inertia box seems perhaps too large, common problem in KS cars.

I don't think it's a tire thing, if anything KS tires are too snappy. Car's just very underdamped compared to IRL, probably.

That usually only happens when steam isn't open? Daft answer I know as I'm sure you do have it open if you have been using CM previously.

I wonder if Zin5ki will be able to give us a IMSA Ford RS200?

I really hope so. I don't think a 3D model is available at all though. That's the downside.

here it is... hopefully it still works :P

It is a mess in the skins folders, since every car was different.
The shaders are wrong, the suspensions are just a copy paste from somewhere, the collision boxes are wrong if I recall well, etc, etc. but despite, it was cool to make a few laps on the nordschleife.
was experimenting at the time how things work in AC.
Whoever wants to clean up the mess and/or modify something; be my guest... no credits needed for me.
At the moment I have no time to retest it and cleanup ... honestly, I don't think it is a keeper, but it is fun to take it for a spin or two ;)

ZMhack, AP and Assettodrive are the ones to be credited. (credits in the car.json)
Are you frikkin' kidding me? I don't care how wrong you think this car is (or how wrong it might actually be), none of that matters when the car looks right and FEELS right. It's a blast! Thank you very much, and this begs the obvious question: what other 'bad' cars have you got hidden away..? ;)

Couple of things if you do update the car, the hands/wheel need synching with the old driver3d thing:
[STEER_ANIMATION]
NAME=steer.ksanim
LOCK=360

...and the exhaust flames have a very low fps or low number of animation frames. I think more of an explosive 'pop' (like Gran Turismo does so well) would be much more appropriate than the awful default slow-burn flamethrower effect that 90% of AC car mods seem to use. Only a few mods get this right in AC but when they do it looks fantastic.
I think this Audi Spyder Widebody is one of the ones that gets it right:

(if someone can fix the mirrors and the lights on this Audi then it might be half-decent - but check out the subtle exhaust pops in chase cam. Much more effective than flamethrowers, no?)

For those asking, yes this is CreamyCornCob (its no mystery). P1 was just a stupid name that popped in my head registering. Onward....

In Cletus Mcflarland words, "Bog Deep'".

Whoa, did I miss something here?? RS200 is prob my favorite car of all time!

Lucky enough to have seen not one but TWO of them!
not a mod unfortunately, but someone posted a picture and a request for a mod. Never seen a IMSA version before, but I've been to Martin Schanches garage a bunch of times so I've seen a couple of rally cross versions along the years :D

The final Version was right side. The mega links should still be around as they dont expire.

You have to have rtm-Audi-r18 or something
You are so right. WOW. A major mistake as I must have deleted the wrong car :dunce: The sound is really spot on in yours. More hours going down in the R18 tonight. Thanks!

Thanks so much for looking at it. I guess the under-damping is what I'm (mis)interpreting as overly soft sidewalls (Hey, it's FFB - hard to sort out what you're experiencing at times).

How did KS miss something this basic (damper rates)? Surely they have that info direct from Nissan?

In case any body wants to know how to change the timing of the flames, it's the BURN_FUEL_MULT and FLASH_THRESHOLD values in flames.ini. Try putting this at the top of flames.ini if you only want a quick pop of flame.
