Sorry @Turnup if I sounded ungrateful there.
It 's all right, just I haven 't had the opportunity to spend more time on tests yet, and to describe the problems in detail.
The first sensations showed that the front tyres had very little hooking. I needed to understand the reasons, but I didn 't have time yet
About the devices on the steering wheel I didn t guess immediately:) At me the steering wheel is disconnected. However, on this video you can see the instruments in a normal place (~0:27). Maybe the 1999 and 2002 cars cockpit are different? I didn 't find a photo or video of the 1999 cocpit...

About FPS... I always test car mods optimization in one way: I put a grid of 18 AI cars (one car) on the same track, in the same conditions - and watch FPS during the start. If the car has Lods with optimal 3d, then the fps do not fall below 60. your other mods on this test show 60+fps during the start (in race 90+). It means I can drive the race comfortably with 18 bots. Panoz showed 47-53 fps. This means there is some difference in optimization when compared to other mods you did. I want to point out that I have a good video card (1080), but a pretty weak processor. So I 'm limited to the number of AI cars on the starting grid. Perhaps the processor is the reason for the fps difference between Panoz and other cars, and on another computer, or in other conditions it will not be noticeable. However, it seems to me that it is worth understanding what it is, as it will be relevant for all who want to race with a lot of rivals, and for those who travel to VR.
I will try to test the new versions of Panoz and Cadillac tonight.
(Now I have morning):)

Great job! I've not compared them to my existing VX220s yet but they feel great.
Couple of things:
I'm seeing the contact patch shadows of the tyres through the track if other VX220s are on the other side of the brow of a hill, if that makes sense. Anyone else getting this?
Aaaaaaand... the old classic:
data/driver3D
LOCK=360
otherwise the wheel slides through the driver's hands
(I'm going to get this printed on a teeshirt)
;)

Your first point sounds odd, can you give me the track/weather/time settings you found this on? I did my testing at Riverside with 20 odd cars and I didn't see any problems with the shadows on the few crests there.

On your second point, this was just copied from the Kunos Elise with the FFB multiplier then tweaked to my liking, will keep in mind the 360 lock if I upload anything else. I'll admit, I made the decision when starting AC to use bonnet cam, read of far too many issues with mod interiors that are just irrelevant with the bonnet camera. Pretty happy with my decision as well, at least until I inevitably decide to try my rift with the game, bonnet cam might be somewhat terrifying in VR...

Hi. New on here and pretty clueless mostly. Can anybody explain to me whats going on with the shadow on this car? Any help in low tech language would be great! TIA

While enjoying @GzeroD legion_panoz_lmp01_evo car, I would love to see some more liveries for it.
I used to have the FLY slot car Panoz / Den Blå Avis and I would really like to see this skin in game, but either it does not exist (yet), or I did not find it.
Good pics of the 2000 Le Mans car John Nielsen - Mauro Baldi - Klaus Graf dark blue + Danish flag 10 are really hard to find.
But if this could help some modder:

Still having issue with sound from Kunos cars, I've replaced them all from a fresh install, but all of the kunos original car's sound are still gone. Any idea how I could fix this?

The weird thing is that the cars that uses their sound still works fine, its just the Kuno's cars having issue.

the object is not set as a shadow caster ... the body seems to be the problem in this case.

I don't know if CM allows to do this, but if you open the car in the kunos editor, od in 3DsimED, you can set the object to cast shadows there.

Still having issue with sound from Kunos cars...
delete or rename "sfx\guids.txt" in the folders of those cars
when installed a sound mod in the past (ie from fonsecker) you got those files, they are not there in orig ac (steam does not delete files on verify)

edit: if you not already have that option, use this CMShowroom to test sound in CM:
https://acstuff.ru/s/nyks

(Enable "Engine sound")

Don't know where I started from but my LMP900 cars had a CoG about 60mm too high! That type of mistake will affect the handling. Just did the fix now so I haven't even driven it much yet.

Thanks for that - almost sorted - do windows need to be set to cast shadows as it looks like they are to blame for the holes now!

Wait for a.. what the.. how did.. where was.. why didn't.. who did.. when was...

You own a Rift and have never raced in VR?

View attachment 846607

I tried Project Cars with it back when I got my rift in 2016, haven't given AC a go yet. I'm not massively fond of it tbh, it's pretty uncomfortable, warm, really antisocial and gives me a headache/makes my eyes hurt if I use it for more than an hour. You'll think I'm insane, but the game I enjoyed most with my Rift is a free game called Mountain Goat Mountain!

You should eventually get over the headache/eye strain if you use it enough, but if you rarely use it then it may take awhile to adapt. I have a couple small fans on either side of my wheel that I turn on when using VR, keeps me nice and cool. I don't understand the antisocial part, but then again I'm antisocial anyway so maybe that's a positive for me. Racing in VR is awesome but if I'm honest there are other games that are even better and really show what VR is capable of. Robo Recall and Eleven Table Tennis are a couple of my favorites but you need a decent sized play area to be able to play either of them effectively. I've legit thought about using Robo Recall as an exercise routine, it probably works your body similar to some zumba/exercise classes and after 15 minutes I'm sweaty, sore, and tired....it's awesome! :dopey:

On a side note, believe me it's far better to do squats, pushups and some weight lifting at the classic way; you know: no fancy glasses, no computer, sheer old fashion.

I do those every morning, and put about 30 miles a week on my mountain bike. Those all work great but there's always room for more and personally I'd rather work up a sweat shooting evil robots than doing Zumba.....though the scenery is probably nicer at a Zumba class. :dopey:

Fair enough, then ;)

Quick question about tyres.I'm making some S2 versions of low powered cars with Car tuner mostly adjusting boost, mass, suspension, tyres.I give them more grip but I too often get front tyres that heat up to red after just 1 or 2 laps on some tracks.Never got that on rear tyres no metter fwd or rwd car.I tried in car setup to pump them to higher psi or reduce toe or camber in setup and in ini.s but problem stays:(
What part of tyrs ini is for heat?Is this an easy fix? Thanks to all

the heat transfer, rolling resistance, ideal temperature, and a few other settings are responsible for that ... all these values are interconnected in a big mess :) not easy to tune them right.

You usually don't set transparent objects to cast shadows... check the undercarriage and the "holes" of the undercarriage, where the wheels are... they are usually a separate object, and see if they are a "tight fit" with the main undercarriage (no gaps)

I myself had a few issues with that, that required me to duplicate some objects, scale them a few cents down, so they don't blend perfectly with the original obj. to avoid flashing, ad reverse the faces on the duplicate.

anyways, since you managed to fix most of the main issue, and now understand what is the problem, it is just a matter of time and patience until you get it perfectly right ;)

good luck !

like the work, but here's my advice.

Please use AO when you doing some skinning, it will give you nice in depth detail even just a little bit.

use AO on base and carbon area (not 100% opacity)
not use AO like your release.
Not pretty noticeable? you can see detail around door handle, bottom grill, fog lamp and vent near exhaust.
AO can be good protect your work and thing. And it will good for your eyes anyway when check some detail.

If you want little more detail you can make fake exhaust on car (bottom square) and keep eyes on small detail like air jack (upper square) it will be really nice for your work. Last thing try use Lumirank mod that made by M4Mkey (need disable led and numberlights on ini file anyway but not hard)

Could you please go a bit more in depth with some basic examples as to how to use and "shade" the AO texture to get different effects ? ... what settings on the shaders do what, how the size of the ao texture affect the rendering quality, etc... of course, a link on an article that explanes all that would be also fine ;)

Cheers !

Soon AD kind of birthday (seems to be about 5 years) and time for renewal of domain and services (let me try to make you understand, that such behaviour, like shown by you - for all this time doing this period "a little bit" harder..). Let's not go deeper in this topic, but as modest "gift" will share there last available version of 918 Spyder roadster.
---
What is there:
Suspension geometry is similiar to KS 918 (setup, including springs rates and mostly all - are different). 4WD configuration like in KS release. All else (almost all) is custom (from 2015 release and updates). Car feels in another way and shortly can be described, as more "gently" or for "everyday ride like". Be patience, this one is going with one LOD and this is high poly model (about 400-500k polys). This version also going with extension file for CSP (Custom Shaders Patch). You can save this link, be cause when/if any update will out later - it will be the same:

Pass:assettodrive

Honestly, not best example from list of released cars, but it's good enough to enjoy it physically, aesthetically and hope, that you will too ..

Best regards.

I totally forgot about this until last night - thanks for sharing it, @Showmebest66.
It's a wonderful car, but I'm curious why you'd spend time recreating a car that is already (with some changes) official Kunos content? I couldn't easily tell if you used the Kunos model as a base of
r not as there are differences, and if not - where did your doner model come from?
Like all Assettoland cars it's aesthetically beautiful and good to drive, but then again so is the Kunos version. I forgot to check if the glass takes raindrops and the wipers work - I assume they do?
Also, is the only difference between the two cars in the pack that one has the roof off?
Thanks again, I do appreciate you sharing these. Just curious about the car choice. I know Porsche is your favourite brand, so was it mainly to add it to your roster?
