Having a bad week. First my wheel, now it seems my video card died. I stepped away from my rig for a minute and when I turned around my monitor was giving me the no signal message. Swapped in an old 1660 I had lying around and everything was fine. I guess my 3060ti died. Odd thing is, I got no warnings that it was going bad. Five minutes before that I was racing without issues.

Anywhoo, since I have to get a new card, should I stick with Nvidia or think about moving to an AMD card? Haven't owned one in years so I was wondering if they are actually better than Nvidia these days.

AMD are cheaper and tend to have more VRAM than NVIDIA cards (which is good for now but also into the future when games require even more memory than the top ones currently do).
Intel have their 2nd gen cards coming soon...hopefully they have worked on driver support for longer than they did with the 1st gen cards as their pricing is far more consumer friendly that team red and green.

How many of you would be interested in my Tommy Kaira M20b?
I am willing to share it depending on the interest you'll show until the weekend.
If I get less than 10 likes, I'm not going to upload it anywhere. :redflag:
If I get around 20 likes I'm uploading it on Overtake. 🏁
If I get more than 30 likes I'm gonna dedicate it to GTPlanet and it's gonna be uploaded just here. :gtpflag:
(Until ACTK uploads his updated version on his site)

But please be aware that it is a low poly model, based on a really old mod.
Be also aware that I didn't find a singular picture of a (real-life) two door M20b.

I remember Facebook modders using this 'releases for likes' nonsense a few years ago... to universal derision. I was rather hoping we'd seen the last of it.

before change it, try to do a clean uninstall OF ALL THE DRIVERS in safe mode with the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU), then, reinstall the latest (or the one that were stable and see if the GPU come back to life. If not, you have to say goodbye to it probably. For sure AMD and NVIDIA have their own pro and cons, so is not a easy choice if not defined only by the budget

Since I can't get a picture on the screen, I can't do what you suggest. I could do the uninstall part using my old video card, but when I put the new one in, I don't even see the bios info screen before windows begins to boot. Funny thing is, the system does boot up because I hear the startup sound when windows loads, but no picture. I even tried all four ports on the card hoping the one I was using was bad, but no luck.

DM, so we don't fill the 3D with useless stuff not related to AC

The weird thing is, I can't seem to identify the faulty mesh/material with 3DsimED. Those pillars are non-existent anywhere but in the race itself. Not related to ext.config, I've tried also without it.

Could someone hint me where to look for a solution next? I want those things gone.

I'm pretty sure it depends on a setting in CM that creates those artifacts also on some modded cars (i don't remember right know who and when talk about it and share the solution). Just wait, someone will say it sooner or later ;)

It's true; I remember something similar happening with some other mod and I also think it was due to some CSP setting, but I haven't been able to locate the message in which the exact solution was mentioned, sorry... Let's see if someone younger and with a better memory than me remembers it.

Finally, a sim that has the newly opened Texas Space Elevator represented at TMS. Been waiting for this one ever since they announced the construction of it.

does anybody know if it is possible to do a model swap?

for instance i have 2 cars (same base model by the looks of it) and i want to use the exhaust from 1 car on the other is this something that can be done through an ext_config or does it need to be in 3d?

thanks

Try unchecking "New shader for human skin" in CSP settings (it's under Graphic Adjustments in my old version of CSP...I assume it's still there in newer versions).

You're the youngerwithbettermemorythanme one! 😙

By the way, I think that option ins't present in newer CSP versions, or at least, I didn't find it yesterday while searching for the solution...

I don't know if this is old news, or if I've been living under a rock, but recently I stumbled across these awsome mods, at least in my opinion, with tons of liveries, overall good looks and decend sound. Mods are from RMS or with his collab. I've downloaded some from assettoworld recently, where I've seen some of his LMP mods posted, but I would like to know if there is some specific site where I can find some more of his GT2/GTC mods? If he posts here lol, just tell me I'm stupid. Btw you can find the Ferrari and Marcos on assettoworld, but i can't remember where I got the Porsche from. I can try to share the folder here if possible, ofc only if you are interested.

Ok the Porsche 993 is mine and the level it is at was only for private use. Why? Because there are objects used in this model from other modders and no permission has been sought for a public release, and as Speedstar 2000 said they can be improved. So I apologise for anyone who has identified any objects used. I made a 2000 FIA GT season set and was uploaded to our RMS group for feedback but it looks like people have modified it and shared it around without permission, which I am not happy about. I did do a Marcos in the set but I don't identify this one and mine didn't have the problems described.

!!! BMW E21 PACK PUBLIC RELEASE !!!...
Just tried this wonderful pack and... OUH YEAH!

I love these cars; despite the small graphical drawbacks I find them very fun to drive, very manageable, with noble reactions that allow you to slide under control, which is a blessing for hamfisted drivers like me... I don't know if their physics will be a faithful reflection from reality, but in this case I don't care, because personally they give me a good time...

Thanks for share!

Hi guys! With the new version of Pure (Gamma, not tried with LCS), when I go out on the track everything is dark for the first 20/25 seconds (menu and hud are visible correctly), then everything goes back to normal.

Has this happened to anyone else and do you know how to fix it?

Thanks

!!! BMW E21 PACK PUBLIC RELEASE !!!

Hi guys! I searched for years a BMW E21 on Assetto Corsa, but I never find any model of this car.
So, some weeks ago, thanks to the work of ATS who released his own tuned version of this car, I started to work to made a stock version of a 323i, one of the most iconic BMW ever. But thinking that was not enough, I decided to create a complete pack of the first generation of the BMW 3 Series!

View attachment 1409568 View attachment 1409569

In this pack you will find 2 stock cars: BMW 316 (90hp) and BMW 323i (143hp), and 2 Alpina versions: Alpina B6 2.8 (200hp) and Alpina C1 2.3/1 (170 hp).

What I have done is some modifications on 3D model (twin headlights that was missed on the base model, exhaust, rims, plates, rear spoiler on both Alpina, badges and front grill), and some CSP adjustments. And of course I tried to recreate the original specs performance of each engines.

I'm not a modder, so maybe the work could be not so perfect, and it's possible that you may find some errors, or something wrong, but I hope you will appreciate the effort of having created something that was missing in Assetto Corsa until now.
And now, enjoy the cars!

Thanks for this pack, the E21 has been a weird omission in AC for a very long time.
If you're planning on updating the pack with the various comments so far, it'd be good if the various gaps around the window seals, door cills etc were filled, as the road can be seen through these from cockpit view. I tried a few configs to reduce them but had no luck, they really need fixing in the kn5. There's a lot of light getting into the cockpit through various meshes too, these need to be set to cast shadows.
Thanks again.

This is Python based F1 80's leaderboard. I have used SimHub based ones but this is much more convenient. This base code is not mine, it's based on modern leaderboards. I have just modified it to suit the new graphics and layouts.

This is for the 86-89 seasons. This new F1 logo was used in 1986 for the first time. I will make another one for the early 80's and all 90's themed leaderboards too as this "golden era" is so negleted in AC.

HOW TO INSTALL F1 late 80S LEADERBOARD:

!!! BUGFIX !!!

1. Download the RAR package and extract the contents to your /assettocorsa folder

Now the font goes directly to AC's own font folder which solved the issue.

That particular font has issues with Windows 11 so it has to be placed to AC's own font folder. You can click on the font and install it anyway just for sure. Sorry for this guys. I had no issues with W10 with it.

2. Go to Content Manager - Content - Miscellanneous - Python Apps - And check F1_late_80s_Leaderboard active

3. Now when you start the game in practice, move your mouse pointer to the right corner to click the icon that shows all apps. Click the desired 80s Leaderboard app visible (three of them and HALO hud) and move them to desired areas on the screen with keeping the left mouse button pressed. Press F9 to get rid of the AC default leaderboard display.

Screenshots from my 1988 Custom Championship with all correct schedule. If you want to try it, the downloadable stuff is in the video description.

Download.

I am sorry for you.

Btw. Every time my wife has her "special days" and vacuums like a wild hord of barbarians ... i think my graphics card has died.:ill:
I turn the box on and there is no signal. Only checking and re-plugging the cable solves the problem

Topic: I think nvidia is clearly in front these days. When it comes to fps per dollar/euro AMD is competetive. But nvidia cards has just more and better features to offer. So in the and better overall quality and fps. Just my opinion.

amazin pack, thanks you very much ! but PLZ can you put the real Alpina's wheels on the twins cars like real ? .... (those you put only on the 323i)

really nice mods and very good to drive with a clear message when the grip is lost. Many thanks. These models were really missing in AC.

I set the speedometer and buttons lighting in the cockpit to the typical BMW red that was in in the 80s. I don't know whether it was already like that in the E21.

Could it be that the vacuum cleaner and your PC are (at some point) on the same outlet / group
the peak-spike of the vacuum cleaner could interrupt

I had it sometime when the fridge goes on, the signal to my monitor was gone for 2 seconds and then comes back
another person had it with his PC steering wheel losing contact when the fridge turned on / off, just a thought
