The required number was more than 10 likes in a week, and it was exceeded in one day, so my requirement is met for the upload. Not sure I follow the logic. Teasing a mod under fanfare while simultaneously threatening to keep it private unless certain conditions are met? Came across as a little arrogant and needy to me, even more so as it's your first mod. It's like the car is some kind of reward for people jumping through hoops, albeit simple one-click ones. If an established AAA modder with a proven track record of excellent releases tried to pull this then they'd probably be met with similar bemusement.
I also don't quite see how this tactic could improve your confidence, especially if you didn't get the required number of 'likes' to meet your requirement. Why not just quietly release the car and build confidence from improving it based on feedback?
Anyway, just my opinion. And you know what they say about opinions.
I'm not threatening by saying that it won't be uploaded with less than 10 likes. I just say that I'd be ashamed to publish something that no more than 10 people care about. I'm sure you start following the logic now.
The reason this tactic helps with confidence, is because by teasing it, I learned that at least a dozen of people would like to try it. So, even if I totally agree that "releasing silently" tactic is the best one can do, I still have the fear of it getting lost if not teased first.
I know what they say about opinions, but I count and respect everyone's. That's why I posted here in the first place. Because the opinion of experienced modders and gamers matters. Especially from modders of GTP.
Also thank you for saying that. Opinions are similar to feedback and always help us become better.
