He got sent off the bench, put on his kit and was substituted on as a player?

Correct. Hessenthaler is rather unusual amongst player/managers in that he subsequently made a return to full-time playing but in a fixture for his Gillingham side against Cardiff City Hessenthaler, who was a named substitution for the Gills, was sent from the dugout by the referee after the Bluebirds went 3-0 up thanks to a dubious freekick. Hessenthaler then asked the referee about coming on as a player and the fourth official said there were no laws against this so Hessenthaler walked away from the touchline as he had to having been a manager sent to the stands, went to the dressing room, got stripped, was brought on as a sub by his assistant and played the rest of the match.

This one will stump you all overnight.

Ten players have finished both at the top of the league system (1st/92nd) and bottom of the league system (92nd/92nd) at various points in their careers.

See if you can name them. No clues until tomorrow.

I think you have given us a clue already, the fact you mention its 92 means its in the Premier League era, if it wasn't it would be 72...

I really think I've got one because he plays for one of my teams, Swansea's Leon Britton joined when we were crap and fighting relegation to the conference, we must have been completely last at one point during that period, on the other hand I know for a fact we have been top of the Premier League at the very start of one season when every team has played two or three games and we were top only for a few hours......so I think one of them is Leon Britton...

Nor him. By top and bottom I mean finishing 1st and 92nd.

Luke Chadwick
Kanu
Leon Britton

Here's some help for you.

You will notice that only two of those players finished 92nd first and finished 1st later.

Is one of them Joe Hart?

Yes it is! Joe Hart was the second-choice keeper at Shrewsbury Town during their disasterous 2002/03 season. Shrewsbury bounced back at the first time of asking and Hart became first choice in 2005/06, signed by Manchester City before all the money and the rest is history.

Trying to work out who won the league in those years, 88/89, 90/91, 97/98 and 01/02 was Arsenal and 94/95 was Blackburn.....hmm....

Alright, that last one was a derailer. Allow me to put you out of your misery. Seeing as he did get one right, @SVT Cobra GT can mix things up and ask a question.

Who are the only team to have won the FA Trophy and play in the Premier League?....not at the same time obviously!

No team in the Premier League era has gone from the non-league to the Premier League or vice versa. The records are Portsmouth and Bradford dropping as far as League Two, and Colchester and Yeovil reaching as high as the Championship,

So are we talking top flight throughout history or is it a trick question of some sort?

Wigan reached the final in the 1970s and have played in the Premier League... Can't think of anyone who's won it and done the same though.
