Nope, not a bad shout though, and well done for spelling Kuszczak correctly......at least I think its correct!

I have good Polish friends; I've tried to learn odds and sods.

Hm. I'll mull this one over and come back tomorrow.

Even though you said he is a foreign player, I'd be interested to know how Jermaine Pennant fares. He lost the Champions League with Liverpool and the FA Cup with Stoke, at least.

For foreigners... maybe Tal Ben Haim.

I was going to ask how has he played in the Shield having not won anything then it occured to me he transfered to some winners.
If a team does a league-cup double, the second team in the Charity/Community Shield is the league runners-up (as in 2010).

Another clue, he did it at two or three clubs, not entirely sure how many but its more than one..

I recall Alexander Hleb was at Arsenal at that time when they were runners up in everything - Champions League and FA Cup at least.

Well MUSC says this player did these things across more than one club. Fine.
The player is still playing down in the Championship. Fine.

Put those two things together and it's tricky. Kuszczak was my first thought on "players who played for at least one top team, probably didn't win or play much and are now in a division below".

On that note, Manuel Almunia could be another having recently played for Watford but he only played for Arsenal upstairs. Ex-Tottenham Gomes (another goalkeeper, eh?) is also down in the Championship but I don't recall him finishing 2nd in the Premiership or losing all those cup finals.

You mentioned Kuczczak and Almunia Liquid, so I though it best to give you another clue, those players are Goalkeepers when our man is a defender...and he never played for Arsenal....

I'll deliberate again overnight, but as an aside, Jon Walters today scored the first perfect hat trick in the Premiership since May 2013.

Emmanuel Adebayor hasn't won anything since moving to England and has played for three big clubs. Could it be him? Even though you did say this player is a championship player.

Yes it is Tal Ben Haim, he was runner up in Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League and Community Shield for Man City, Chelsea and Portsmouth, he is currently playing for Charlton in the Championship

I'm really sorry i did see you got it right @Liquid, damn my speed reading!! :ouch:

Interesting that Ben Haim has won so little.

Who was the first player to be the top goalscorer in the Premier League era?

Most obvious one is Shearer, if not him then ill try and think of some others..

Clue: Champions League winner and holder of two Premiership age records.
I looked up the official stats and they say "Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar" for all records.

[satire]

Ooooh Teddy Teddy...

Tedward Sheringham it was, scoring once for Nottingham Forest on the opening day* before his transfer to Tottenham Hotspur brought 21 goals for a total of 22 goals and the Premiership's first top scorer.

*Bonus - this was the first goal ever shown live on Sky Sports
**Double bonus - his age records are oldest Premiership outfielder (40y 270d) and oldest Premiership goalscorer (40y 266d)

Your turn to ask, Vegard. Incidentally, I've also found a nice treasure trove of trivium for you all for the near future.
