Ah really PD! I set a 2.01.0 in Pre-Q but it isn't registering the time in the results even though I completed the session!

@Timlour, if you are in the room still, check Race Results and post my time here so at least I can still have it as a time.

Race 1 was one for the ages as Timlour, Pubs, Mikey anf Doomstorm battled it out in the mid pack but it was NW48 who won by 14.375secs in an emotionally charged win at Silverstone.

So, I'd say that I was pleased with the attendance last night. 9 considering that we had about 5 out due to Silverstone GTP ES or social commitments, so I'd consider it a good night. The racing between the Group A cars was fantastic and for Race 2 it came down to strategy. Fantastic stuff.

Round 7 | Silverstone GP | #48 Russian Roulette Racing | Race Report

I guess I should do one of these. So, here's my rundown of my race.
Supports
For the Shifters, I had the pace but a first lap incident due to a stray text chat message cost me dearly. I had fun trying to catch up, but some odd lag sent me of the road. This would be the first of my many problems.

DAP Racing Karts. Trying to get a good gearing setup was taking longer than expected. Time was up so I had to bite the bullet. I got an amazing start, running out to a 1sec lead after a lap. I lead until the 4th lap where my inferior straight line speed came back to hurt me, after getting a bit of a rub (very legal, but it was the lag that made it look worse) from Aaroh or LITTLEBLACKO. I ended up a disappointing 4th.

WSR F3 time, I was looking forward to this. My run of good starts came to an end when I misjudged the start and coped a 1sec penalty. I managed to hold onto 2nd before being shuffled off the track in a tight contest, losing out massively. Another disappointing 4th.

Lotus 97T. I got another good start, managing the wheelspin perfectly whilst the others smoked it up. I lead until I ran wide after I pushed too hard into the turn. I held off a late charge from David to finish a nice 2nd.

Race 1

I started on pole, it being my first pole of the year, I wanted to make the most of it. I knew that the GT-R's have been insanely quick off the line all season so I knew I'd have to take a gamble by trying to release the brake just before we went green. Fortunately I timed it perfectly and ran on par, side by side with Mikey into Turn One all the way until Turn Five. From there on I was barely challenged, aside from a small battle at the start with Mikey. I ran till Lap 8 then dived into the pits for a fresh set of tyres. I came out where I came in, but with a bigger margin. I went on to win by 14.375secs and set the fastest lap, a 2.01.0xx. I can't speak for those who were in that mid-pack battle, but judging by my mini-map, it looked intense.

Race 2

Race 2, a less than perfect start let Doomstorm ahead, I managed to get back ahead but a silly decision by me to conserve tyres to try and stretch the stint to Lap 9 backfired letting Doomstorm back ahead. I tried passing into the final series of corners but locked up badly, killing my tyres, and just got into Doom, momentarily letting Pubs into the lead until we all sorted ourselves out into the positions we had prior to the race. I was hot on Doom'sDoom's tail on the last lap, setting up a pass out of Maggots & Beckitt, however that was not to be as coming onto National Straight, I clipped the gravel trap and tgrew the race away, with Doom winning by 3secs from myself, closely followed by @Pubs16. Congrats @Doomstorm16 on your first win in the ATCC!

Now onto my bogey track of Suzuka, the 3rd last round of the normal season! The championship is very tight, and is guaranteed to go down to the final round.

Sorry about that message didnt realise it was the grass roots challenge

Nah, it's all good mate. We all make mistakes, I'm not going to penalise you unlike some series would. That's just pathetic, unless it's spam and continuous, I can't see why you should be penalised.

I was surprised to see how much you struggled during the races, despite my pace, I was way off my times in Pre-Season Testing, a 2.00.8 was my best there, guess I went a bit careful.

Less than a tenth behind ! :banghead:

And concerning text chat in-race, I wasn't there but you know me, I'm not particularly in favor of "repression" policy in general but it really depends on the race going on.
In relatively slow cars it's ok but when you're fighting wheel to wheel for 20 minutes at 280kph in the FGT you just want to kill that guy that keeps talking (true story).

Well ok he only talked twice in 5 minutes but that was already too much. :grumpy:

You judged the race distance perfectly. I thought surely that the tyres would last 7 laps. But nope. They just got me home.

I was on the Mediums.
Maybe this explains that. :D

And as I said in the lobby I'm used to heavy tyre wear racing in the FGT, although it was a really short sprint.
Ah. I thought we were all going to use Softs so I regretfully bought a pair and slapped them on.

Main races were epic! I'll have a full post race report up tomorrow hopefully maybe, but man that was the closest 12 laps of racing I've ever had, in both races!

Once again I'm nose to tail with @Timlour for the majority of Race 1. A great lot of switching between us on the final two laps but Tim just got me into Club as I had just gotten passed him into Stowe but ran deep into Vale and he switched back on me! Great driving dude.
And of course the three way battle between myself, @Doomstorm16 ans @NW48, that'll be a replay for me to watch a few times! I don't know what happened but in the final lap I think, NW lag quite a bit and seemed to run deep into turn 3, then rejoin in Arena and then mass lag and I was shunted off to the right with heavy damage :S. Thought I had grabbed 2nd to chase down Doomstorm, but yeah I dunno what went down on your view @NW48?

Either way 2 podium results Im very happy with although I feel I had a shot to battle for Race 2 to win if that lag didn't happen. Some points in the bank but the top 3 are well away in a lead and I need to win races to be closer to them, will be interesting with not many opportunities left.

A note on track limits, I'm used to quite strict rules regarding this and being a steward for one series, there were ALOT of incidents where penalties would occur under those rules. Copse was really really bad for some for a lot of the race and I feel a bit cheated when somebody runs wide while I'm following them closely and they just stay in it, if that were me I'd at least get out of the throttle until I'm back on track (what if there was a wall there?). It shouldn't be abused I'm saying... If you run wide fair enough, but don't continuously do it when you know from the previous lap that you didn't make it at that pace...

Another note; UNC Motorsports is leading the Independents championship! :D

JET BLACK MAFIA'S MIKEY | RACE REPORT

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

QUALIFYING

I really struggled to find a correct line through Becketts and Maggots, consistently losing at least half a second to everyone there. Sector 1 I knew I'd be very quick there using the power-slide technique - it makes rotating a 4WD much much easier.

2:01.766 (I think )

RACE 1

Starting 4th on the grid I knew I had to make a good start to be competitive - and a good start is what I got. I nailed the timing and launched off of the grid, blitzing @Pubs16 and @Timlour to the first corner, going side-by-side with polesitter @NW48 before braking too early for The Loop, allowing @NW48 to challenge me for the lead. Using the power-slide technique I managed to out drive @NW48 out of The Loop but his ballistic straight-line speed brought him back in front. I stuck to his tail for a couple of laps, pulling away from @Pubs16 and @Timlour (battling for 3rd) and @Doomstorm16 - who seemed to be struggling from my POV.

About 6 laps in, my left knee felt like it had stabbed and I couldn't even lift it off of the floor so I then had to start right-foot braking which ultimately killed my pace. I was making mistake after mistake, with a painful left knee. When I pitted I stood up and walked around a little, sat back down as I was exiting the pits and I could use my left foot again... but only for a lap and a half before it died again.

Coming into The Loop I put a wheel on the grass and spun the car, allowing @Doomstorm16 into 4th and I spun again on the very next corner. Which just put out of contention for anything higher. 5th it was.

5th
RACE 2

I stated my intentions of not wanting to race due to my left knee, and so ultimately pulled out - which I deeply apologise for, @NW48. I couldn't handle the pain and even not using my left leg it was still unbearable.

After a weeks hiatus, the Driver-In-Focus interview finally returns! This week we have late-season bloomer, @Timlour, joining us fresh from a second-place overall in the GTP ES at Silverstone.

1. What drew you to the ATCC?
My teammate @NW48 was the one who came up with the idea for the ATCC, and I was invited to his team, Russian Roulette Racing. Since I was already working with this team for the GTPES, I thought joining the team was perfect. That's how I came into the ATCC.

2. Do you have any real-life racing experience? (I.e; karts, track-days)
No, but I do hope to become a professional race car driver, and I expect myself to start with karts in the future.

3. What's your biggest Gran Turismo Racing Achievement?
I first started racing online in various racing series hosted by Top Notch Racing. In the 5th round the TNR Le Mans series at the Sarthe Circuit, I fought a long and hard GT3 battle with TNR_FILO and managed to come out on top. This was my first victory in an online racing series. FILO was really impressed that I managed to win against him. I then went on to win the GT3 championship, to the astonishment of everyone involved.

4. Which ATCC race are you most looking forward to?
The British Grand Prix at Silverstone. This is the race that I've practiced for the most, and since the GTPES 12h of Silverstone wil be held on the same weekend as this race, that means I can gather data from practicing for the 12h and hopefully create a winning setup for my Chevrolet.

5. Which ATCC race are you least looking forward to?
The Bathurst 1000. The track is just a little too bumpy for my liking. Still, I hope for a good result there.

6. How do you get prepared for a race, whether in the virtual world or real world?
Practice, practice, practice. I believe finding the ideal setup is key to victory, no matter what or where I am racing.

7. What's your favourite Racing Discipline? (I.e; Open-Wheel, Touring, Endurance)
I have a knack for GT racing. GT cars are so much fun to drive, whether on a track day, or in an actual race. And the technology that GT cars incorporate are, in my opinion, second only to Prototypes. GT racing is very enjoyable for me, and I'm sure it is for others as well.

8. Who's your favourite racing driver of all-time?
My favorite racing driver is Carl Edwards of NASCAR fame because of his personality. In the heat of a race, he can keep a cool head when many others can't. He is also quite the racing tactician, knowing how and when to save fuel, and often maintaining his position while doing so. He is a very talented and respectable driver, and there are times when I find myself wondering how he would fare in other racing disciplines.

9. What would be the biggest racing event in the world, in your opinion?
Without a doubt, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Though I never watched the race from start to finish, I get a thrill from seeing such a wide variety of cars racing against each other from day to night to day. I also believe that no race in the world showcases racing technolgy quite like Le Mans. People would know what I mean by this when they get a look at the cars that run in this race. From the GT cars to the Prototype, the technology that's found on the outside as well as the inside is mind-blowing. Another thing worth mentioning is that there is always a massive amount of people that come from all around the world to see this day-long spectacle of a race. I hope one day I can join these people and witness first-hand what it's like to be at Le Mans.

10. Finally, what are your aspirations for the ATCC?
I want to not only see the ATCC through to the end, but become the champion of the ATCC. @mustafur has dominated the points so far, but I am racing to change that.

Strong words there from Timlour, let's see if he can back then up by having a strong showing at Suzuka!

After going all Raikonnen on us in the first race.

You should be right there now in terms of the championship fight for 3rd.
Maybe that colour made me do a raikkonen
