No rush. We start in about 15minsWill be in main room momentarily!
Not anymore. The attendance is low enough for the servers to handle. Hopefully. We must wait for being called to enter main room, right?
Sorry about that message didnt realise it was the grass roots challengeSo, I'd say that I was pleased with the attendance last night. 9 considering that we had about 5 out due to Silverstone GTP ES or social commitments, so I'd consider it a good night. The racing between the Group A cars was fantastic and for Race 2 it came down to strategy. Fantastic stuff.
Round 7 | Silverstone GP | #48 Russian Roulette Racing | Race ReportSupports
I guess I should do one of these. So, here's my rundown of my race.
For the Shifters, I had the pace but a first lap incident due to a stray text chat message cost me dearly. I had fun trying to catch up, but some odd lag sent me of the road. This would be the first of my many problems.
DAP Racing Karts. Trying to get a good gearing setup was taking longer than expected. Time was up so I had to bite the bullet. I got an amazing start, running out to a 1sec lead after a lap. I lead until the 4th lap where my inferior straight line speed came back to hurt me, after getting a bit of a rub (very legal, but it was the lag that made it look worse) from Aaroh or LITTLEBLACKO. I ended up a disappointing 4th.
WSR F3 time, I was looking forward to this. My run of good starts came to an end when I misjudged the start and coped a 1sec penalty. I managed to hold onto 2nd before being shuffled off the track in a tight contest, losing out massively. Another disappointing 4th.
Lotus 97T. I got another good start, managing the wheelspin perfectly whilst the others smoked it up. I lead until I ran wide after I pushed too hard into the turn. I held off a late charge from David to finish a nice 2nd.
Race 1
I started on pole, it being my first pole of the year, I wanted to make the most of it. I knew that the GT-R's have been insanely quick off the line all season so I knew I'd have to take a gamble by trying to release the brake just before we went green. Fortunately I timed it perfectly and ran on par, side by side with Mikey into Turn One all the way until Turn Five. From there on I was barely challenged, aside from a small battle at the start with Mikey. I ran till Lap 8 then dived into the pits for a fresh set of tyres. I came out where I came in, but with a bigger margin. I went on to win by 14.375secs and set the fastest lap, a 2.01.0xx. I can't speak for those who were in that mid-pack battle, but judging by my mini-map, it looked intense.
Race 2
Race 2, a less than perfect start let Doomstorm ahead, I managed to get back ahead but a silly decision by me to conserve tyres to try and stretch the stint to Lap 9 backfired letting Doomstorm back ahead. I tried passing into the final series of corners but locked up badly, killing my tyres, and just got into Doom, momentarily letting Pubs into the lead until we all sorted ourselves out into the positions we had prior to the race. I was hot on Doom'sDoom's tail on the last lap, setting up a pass out of Maggots & Beckitt, however that was not to be as coming onto National Straight, I clipped the gravel trap and tgrew the race away, with Doom winning by 3secs from myself, closely followed by @Pubs16. Congrats @Doomstorm16 on your first win in the ATCC!
Now onto my bogey track of Suzuka, the 3rd last round of the normal season! The championship is very tight, and is guaranteed to go down to the final round.
Nah, it's all good mate. We all make mistakes, I'm not going to penalise you unlike some series would. That's just pathetic, unless it's spam and continuous, I can't see why you should be penalised.Sorry about that message didnt realise it was the grass roots challenge
Just that track i hate it i was suprised to get 2nd in the 2nd raceNah, it's all good mate. We all make mistakes, I'm not going to penalise you unlike some series would. That's just pathetic, unless it's spam and continuous, I can't see why you should be penalised.
I was surprised to see how much you struggled during the races, despite my pace, I was way off my times in Pre-Season Testing, a 2.00.8 was my best there, guess I went a bit careful.
After going all Raikonnen on us in the first race.Just that track i hate it i was suprised to get 2nd in the 2nd race
When/ where do you want me?Can have some people help with BOP for a series im looking at running
I could also lend a hand when I'm not busy. Just give me a days heads up and I can tell you my availability. Can have some people help with BOP for a series im looking at running
Less than a tenth behind !Lotus 97T. I got another good start, managing the wheelspin perfectly whilst the others smoked it up. I lead until I ran wide after I pushed too hard into the turn. I held off a late charge from David to finish a nice 2nd.
You judged the race distance perfectly. I thought surely that the tyres would last 7 laps. But nope. They just got me home.Less than a tenth behind !
And concerning text chat in-race, I wasn't there but you know me, I'm not particularly in favor of "repression" policy in general but it really depends on the race going on.
In relatively slow cars it's ok but when you're fighting wheel to wheel for 20 minutes at 280kph in the FGT you just want to kill that guy that keeps talking (true story).
Well ok he only talked twice in 5 minutes but that was already too much.
Ah. I thought we were all going to use Softs so I regretfully bought a pair and slapped them on.I was on the Mediums.
Maybe this explains that.
And as I said in the lobby I'm used to heavy tyre wear racing in the FGT, although it was a really short sprint.
After a weeks hiatus, the Driver-In-Focus interview finally returns! This week we have late-season bloomer, @Timlour, joining us fresh from a second-place overall in the GTP ES at Silverstone.
1. What drew you to the ATCC?
My teammate @NW48 was the one who came up with the idea for the ATCC, and I was invited to his team, Russian Roulette Racing. Since I was already working with this team for the GTPES, I thought joining the team was perfect. That's how I came into the ATCC.
2. Do you have any real-life racing experience? (I.e; karts, track-days)
No, but I do hope to become a professional race car driver, and I expect myself to start with karts in the future.
3. What's your biggest Gran Turismo Racing Achievement?
I first started racing online in various racing series hosted by Top Notch Racing. In the 5th round the TNR Le Mans series at the Sarthe Circuit, I fought a long and hard GT3 battle with TNR_FILO and managed to come out on top. This was my first victory in an online racing series. FILO was really impressed that I managed to win against him. I then went on to win the GT3 championship, to the astonishment of everyone involved.
4. Which ATCC race are you most looking forward to?
The British Grand Prix at Silverstone. This is the race that I've practiced for the most, and since the GTPES 12h of Silverstone wil be held on the same weekend as this race, that means I can gather data from practicing for the 12h and hopefully create a winning setup for my Chevrolet.
5. Which ATCC race are you least looking forward to?
The Bathurst 1000. The track is just a little too bumpy for my liking. Still, I hope for a good result there.
6. How do you get prepared for a race, whether in the virtual world or real world?
Practice, practice, practice. I believe finding the ideal setup is key to victory, no matter what or where I am racing.
7. What's your favourite Racing Discipline? (I.e; Open-Wheel, Touring, Endurance)
I have a knack for GT racing. GT cars are so much fun to drive, whether on a track day, or in an actual race. And the technology that GT cars incorporate are, in my opinion, second only to Prototypes. GT racing is very enjoyable for me, and I'm sure it is for others as well.
8. Who's your favourite racing driver of all-time?
My favorite racing driver is Carl Edwards of NASCAR fame because of his personality. In the heat of a race, he can keep a cool head when many others can't. He is also quite the racing tactician, knowing how and when to save fuel, and often maintaining his position while doing so. He is a very talented and respectable driver, and there are times when I find myself wondering how he would fare in other racing disciplines.
9. What would be the biggest racing event in the world, in your opinion?
Without a doubt, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Though I never watched the race from start to finish, I get a thrill from seeing such a wide variety of cars racing against each other from day to night to day. I also believe that no race in the world showcases racing technolgy quite like Le Mans. People would know what I mean by this when they get a look at the cars that run in this race. From the GT cars to the Prototype, the technology that's found on the outside as well as the inside is mind-blowing. Another thing worth mentioning is that there is always a massive amount of people that come from all around the world to see this day-long spectacle of a race. I hope one day I can join these people and witness first-hand what it's like to be at Le Mans.
10. Finally, what are your aspirations for the ATCC?
I want to not only see the ATCC through to the end, but become the champion of the ATCC. @mustafur has dominated the points so far, but I am racing to change that.
Strong words there from Timlour, let's see if he can back then up by having a strong showing at Suzuka!
Maybe that colour made me do a raikkonenAfter going all Raikonnen on us in the first race.
You should be right there now in terms of the championship fight for 3rd.
