Was a fantastic race, really close battle until the DE panese **** arrived - managed to take him out on lap 8 before he got me but he caught up again & did the damage - held on for third place.

SCR has had trouble with him in the past.:grumpy: Paulie, PAPA, zed300 and I were saying similiar things about him in a psn chat.

Your right LionFace the MNR is about fun with people who are not hell bent in trying to put you to the sword.....and i'm happy enough to have you online with the crew in what ever you want to drive but the problem is that with different cars you find each one is stronger in different sectors (that's why i hate 111R's) and creates bottle necks which has nothing to do with driver ability (and you have got that).

When next months car list gets discussed let's get some debate going on.....

I agree with what's been said so far. I, like the others, have no problems with you using a different car than the one specified. Other weeks haven't been a problem but last night's race 5, it did seem that the F40 was causing a number of cars to bottle up behind you. It had nothing to do with your driving, as others have said, you were doing a great job at watching where we all were and driving fine.

However the car itself meant you were quite slow for the first half of the lap & any of us making a pass in that section would be 50/50. Then, once we went out of the hairpin and onto the second half of the circuit you blasted away from us and then this repeated for the next 3 or so laps. The way the Mine's Vs F40 is, it means either risking a big move in the first half of the lap or else that's it, you'll more than likely have to spend another lap behind because the F40 seems too strong coming onto/down straights.

Maybe we should take a vote or just let crazy decide when he gets back. My view is there's a set car/track for each race. If you choose not to run the selected car, that's fine but do not get in the way or obstruct the other SAR/MNR drivers who have chosen the correct car & are racing each other.

Driver points from this round are:

Supersonic-88: 6th, 5th, 1st, 2nd, 3rd = 72 points
ED5TA_155: -, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 5th = 39 points
GTP_joeninety: 4th, 4th, 2nd, 4th, 2nd = 70 points
GTP_DEVIE: 1st, 1st, NA, 1st, 1st = 100 points
vrrm: 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 7th = 79 points
* Tizzla: 2nd, 1st, 5th, 5th, 6th = 64 points
* Womble: NA, 7th, 3rd, 3rd, 4th = 44 points
* GTP_Toivonen: 1st, NA, NA, NA, NA = 25 points

* indicates assumed only raced in MNR. If these 3 drivers did take part in SAR, please list your points from that.

Now i know that Vrrm does not need me to defend his abilities with the wheel and in review i can not believe i'm trying to defend an Australian from a New Zealander but he has been one of the bench mark drivers for me since i first got online - so if you got the better of him last night you better put a notch on your steering wheel cause he will back to claim your scalp next time !

Ha Ha well said:tup:

Chris, Sonic, Gentlemen,

Must say I've enjoyed the format you guys came up with for this month. Same cars/tracks, R tyres, all tuning options available. The opportunity to refine tuning has provided good racing and in between midweek development has given me a few challenges and some new insights.

I enjoy the points thing, more as an indicator of serious stuff we may get into down the track a bit, but is fun.

If you are interested in votes, mine clearly goes to continuing with a similar series for the next month.

I'm not overly fond of the cars we have at present - the 05 WRX is the only one I'd pick. So if 800PP (or even 750PP) appears again at Expert level next month can we please have the LM or the Chev. I'd really enjoy chasing Womble & Dodo for a change, lol.

Or put us in the Elise tuned so we can collectively do over that Papnase dude. Smile.

And if a world race then one of the car choices should be the fastest available so mid week development can involve adhoc but quality competition.

I've enjoyed it, you've done good, thanks.

Rob

Well tonight is listed as the last in the current series, however does anybody know how often PD change the events? Is it every month or so? Because if we finish up tonight and then create next months schedule, we may run into the same problem as last time where we have 1 or 2 weeks worth of racing then everything needs to be scrapped thanks to a new event listing. So what would be the best way forward with that in mind? Just continue on with the current schedule until they do change the events or come up with something new for next week and just race that until then?

On the topic of cars, I think what we've been running for the last 3 weeks has been a good selection overall. Sure, not my all-time favourite cars but fun to drive and each provides a different challenge. I also liked how the lancia was chosen. Not because of its speed obviously :P as we all know its pretty slow but because it was something I had never driven in the game. Also it was a change for the norm of always competing in high powered cars. So perhaps something like the current formula would be good:

2 grip cars
1 beast car
1 car that combines both a bit of grip as well as beast, so something in the middle
1 different car, lowish power, something that isn't usually chosen

the events change at the end of each month just before a weekend. Two months of the year have to have 5 weekends in them (this might be one given the early start in June).

I agree lets not plan the next events until we see what is available, like yr suggestion Sonic of a mix. And I quite like the Lancia too, stuff that's out of the ordinary is always good fun.

Not sure what happened last night. 2 weeks ago we had 9 drivers, last night we barely had 3 :(

Race 1: Nobody turned up for this. The only driver online on my list was vrrrm but either he didn't take part in this race or we got split into 2 because it was only myself and another driver. Decided just to run time trial laps and ended up beating the other guy by almost 2 minutes :P Fastest lap was a 2:02.097 I think.

Race 2: Joe came online and devie showed up for this race. Was just us 3 alone and was quite an entertaining race with lots of moves for the lead. Not sure what happened to devie coming out of the final turn on the last lap. We were quite close behind him and about to setup for a final draft for the win when he went really wide out of the turn, onto the run-off area then continued along the full length of that & back onto the race track. This made it impossible for either Joe or I to get enough draft so we had to settle for 2nd & 3rd. No picture for this one, since we all finished very close together the game quickly finished the race so there was no time to take a pic.

Race 3: Had an ok start but was last out of the 4 of us. Was behind dodo who was driving well but slower than devie and joe. Took a good number of laps before I was able to get past which by then, both joe and devie were well off into the distance. Pulled quickly away from dodo and tried to hunt down joe but he must of made a mistake because I found him recovering from an accident at spoon. Went into 2nd and then tried to maintain my gap to 3rd place. Finished 2nd.

Race 4: Can't find the sweet spot gearing wise for this car. Went back to my gearing from 2 weeks ago last night but found it wasn't much better than the gearing paulie had for his GTP Event tune. The race seemed to be decided in the only the 2nd corner when there was a big concertina effect. I was at the end of it and this allowed devie to race off into the distance while dodo and I recovered. Got into 2nd early on but there was no way I could catch devie who was too far in-front. The highlight of the race was twice in 2 laps out braking and manoeuvring an audi R8 at turn 1. The guy obviously wasn't a great driver but to beat an R8 in my s***box lancia was a laugh  Finished 2nd.

Race 5: Good start but devie was in-front of me for the first lap or 2. I noticed he seemed to be struggling a bit with the car & soon enough a mistake was made and he spun during the esses. Was now in the lead (3rd overall in the race) but with good gaps both to cars in-front & behind. The guys in-front mucked up a few times so I caught right up to them but decided to just back off a bit and not get involved, so not to risk an accident. The last 3-4 laps backed off and just concentrated on not making mistakes. Devie was catching me quite quickly but I won the race with a good margin.

Finishes were:

Race 1: 1st
Race 2: 2nd
Race 3: 2nd
Race 4: 2nd
Race 5: 1st

As I posted before, that was the last listed event for this round however we'll wait and see what happens with events this week. If nothing changes then I guess we could run this again for a final time? Not sure when crazy will be back, hopefully soon so we can get his views on it.

Cheers 👍

Sorry guys, I completely forgot it was on.:banghead: I was out with dad at a track day all day though and I was a bit tired and had some other things to do.

Results for this round are:

Supersonic-88: 1st*, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 1st = 110* points
ED5TA_155: 2nd, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th = 80 points
GTP_joeninety: NA, 3rd, 3rd, NA, NA = 30*** points
GTP_DEVIE: 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st = 125 points
Dodo: NA, NA, 4th, 3rd, 3rd = 40*** points
vrrm: 3rd, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 1st = 110 points
Womble: NA, 2nd, NA, 2nd, NA = 40 points
Crazyhorse: NA, NA, NA, NA, NA = NA***

Post your results guys & I'll fill it in :)

* Only SAR/MNR driver in the race
** Assumed only raced in MNR. If these driver/s did take part in SAR, please list your points from that. You have until the next SAR meeting to confirm.
*** Drivers have yet to post their results. Finishing positions above currently reflect images of race results posted. You have until the next SAR meeting to post your results or else the points stay as shown above.

I know there was a 'rule' somewhere about needing a minimum of 2 SAR/MNR drivers for the race to be counted. I understand that the point of this was to stop a driver from purposely missing the race, claiming it was the games fault and then racing by themselves to victory/full points. However it also punishes driver/s like in the above scenario. I've turned up to race (possibly vrrrm as well), entered on time, nobody else has chosen to turn up & I get penalised. Furthermore race 1 in SAR may have been completed no problems with a few drivers.

If it's deemed race 1 for MNR is not counted I accept that because the understanding was there when we started. Going forward though for our next championship, surely we could come up with a different system that doesn't penalise drivers who do the right thing.

Perhaps something like a trust system? In our racing we all trust the current drivers that they don't purposely run into each other or create incidents. Why can't this be applied the same way? I know that all the guys I'm racing wouldn't purposely miss a race, just so they could be by themselves to get a win.

Alternatively we could do something like, if you're a new driver (who has not taken part in at least 1 SAR/MNR championship) and this happens to you, then the race doesn't count OR half points. However if you're an experienced SAR/MNR driver (at least 1 SAR/MNR championship), then we take your word for it and the results in your race stand. That way it doesn't let new drivers whom we have never raced before/for extended periods of time, potentially take advantage of the system.

Thoughts?

Womble and I had a weird MNR last night. In all races we started at the designated time. In the first race Devie was present but we had a disconnect on about the 3rd lap. In the remained of the races it was just Womble and me (don't get how we could all have been trying to be in the same event and yet...). We had one other event (can't remember which that disconnected or something.

Anyhow upshot of the tale is that it was just the two of us and despite each race ending with Womble & I in reverse order, I'm not sure if points should count (despite your arguments above).

I'll submit my SAR results tonight when I get home.

Of greater import, when I logged in to GTPlanet just now I noticed an article that I've not yet read which appear to suggest NASCAR will be in GT5. I shudder at the thought. I mean SHUDDER at the idea, the road circuits maybe, but oval racing... yyrrrrrkkkkss.

Wow that is weird then. You & womble weren't in any of my races so maybe something funny was going on with their servers

Going on what was said, your races with womble will probably count as there were at least 2 members present.

 NASCAR was confirmed back at E3. I don't mind it being in the game, although I can only see it working with longer races. 10 lap dashes would be chaos. Also would only like a few circuits, daytona, indy, watkins glen, infinion raceway, talladega, bristol, something like that.

SAR 3 1 2 2 1
MNR - 1 - 1 1

not much diff, happy to use SAR results. Though in race 5 then only got 1st after elbowing Devie out of the way in a most unsavory manner.

The NASCAR road circuits I don't mind, what the noobs would do on the ovals would be scary.

Thanks for the results 👍

True punters on ovals would be hectic although we'll have private rooms by then, so no tossers to deal with :D

Just for the record,i always click in on the exact second every time i start a race.I was present in the first race, and was leading too vrrm who was close behind, then disconnect. As for me running wide i appologise to a genuine mistake,i guess i didnt want to back off and lose two spots for a minor mistake. It doesnt seem to bother you (supersonic) that when i pulled out of your draft at one stage down the main straight, and joeninety was supposed to pull out of my draft on the right side(which i left heaps of room for)and pass us both,he chose to use the grass in between yourself and the wall and clearly had 4 wheels in the grass for at least 2 seconds, not that it bothers me but he didnt suffer any penalty for it,why should you bring it up before at least private messaging me to discuss it??

Anyway my results are:

SAR:Race 1: 1st. Race 2: 1st. Race 3:NA. Race 4: 1st. Race 5: 1st

MNR:Race 1: 1st. Race 2: 1st. Race 3:1st. Race 4: 1st. Race 5:2nd

MNR. Race 1 and 3 were disconnects. Not sure what happens with points for these races, but i was leadind both when we got disconnected.

 ....I just wrote what happened, that you went really wide & that was it. I never said you should get a penalty because there was no problem, just like with joe's move, which was quite surprising in seeing a car go by me on the grass at full speed :P

As for the disconnects, unless the race is re-run with all the participants informed about it, then as far as I'm aware the race is not counted. Might be wrong about that one though.

Sorry, no offence intended in my message, its just that i felt a little hard done by when you said nobody else turned up to race except maybey vrrm, when i entered the race on exactly the right time and started a race with vrrm who was supplying a fair amount of pressure from behind. Having a close race we then got disconnected whilst i was leading but you say in your post you won that race.:boggled:

No no no no, that's not what I meant  I can only know who's racing by my friend list & anybody in the GTP chat or a PSN chatroom. Vrrm was the only driver online so I assumed he may be the only guy around. I said only a few drivers turned up not in any way to makes other feel bad. Just wrote that...only a few drivers turned up :P

On race 1 the reason I 'won' is because in SAR/MNR we allow for multiple races if the game happens to split the group. In race 1 it seems you and vrrm got split into 1 race while I was in the other. I won my race (by default obviously as nobody else was with me) while your race DC'd. If that race had finished and say you beat vrrm, then you would also be the winner! So basically there can be multiple winners of a given race, if the group happens to be split :)

Hope that clears it up 👍

no worries,it can be a little hard communicating via msg sometimes so im sorry if i took it the wrong way and came across a little defensive:) Had a great night racing anyway. See you next week:tup:

Also supersonic, i have you as a friend in my list. Am i on yours?

👍 Yep was a good night of racing, you're tough to beat :P I was getting a little worried in the last race watching you get closer and closer

Edit: Yes, you're on my friend list. I got the request after the final race & added you :)

MNR..
Race 1 we were booted, obviously the other driver didn't like us beating him!!
Race 2 finished 1st VRRM, 2nd Womble
Race 3 booted, and then we ran Fuji just to fill in time.. VRRM, Womble
Race 4 1st VRRM, 2nd Womble
Race 5 was up to about 9th or 10th lap and then it looked like VRRM just ran off the track... Booted again

Was not a great night for grouping, we were starting right on time (at least I was, and was connecting with VRRM)

Well the un thinkable has happened!

My PS3 is dead!!!! - I don't think i can fully explain how i feel about this as i have been using it everyday since they were released in NZ.......

Can't find the purchase docket(turned the house upside down last night looking).

I'm now sitting in a corner shaking, muttering incoherently.....

Desperately hoping mine doesn't die. I know PAPA's has died a few times and now yours.:(

I didn't have my docket either.
i took it back to Harvey norm, and they called up the purchase from their records, and that was used as the purxhase proof. try that if you can. Hope you get it sorted.

What a bugger Wayne! I had same happen to me, PS3 died. I managed some sort of backup of my game file (kept the License levels) but lost most of the cars. Now I keep a copy which I update every month or so. I seem to recall going through 3 PS2's and already 1 PS3. I always keep the box and leave the receipt in it so had no probs getting a repair (took 10 bloody days though). Given the frequency of the machines busting recommend to all that you keep a copy of your game data file on a memory stick.

Hey guys, thought I'd give the table an update since Chris still seems to be away.

This reflects the first 3 rounds of SAR/MNR, so up to 12th/13th July.

This weeks results, 19th/20th, will be up on sunday, once a few of the guys confirm their results in post #581 :)

Cheers 👍

I never have time to run SAR coz I have work to do at that time of the day, so I'm only running the MNR's.

Thats a bugger about ya PS3, as ripping silk suggests, go back to the store where ya bought it and hopefully they can bring up the purchase date for ya and give ya a print out.
