Well the drop of 50 PP at each event has made things tricky...

Fuji wasn't too bad, but the GT-Rs (and a heap of other rides, too) won't run R-tyres at 600PP! But I think we'll have fun with the selections (see race post, below) 👍

Suzuka was tougher. I was very keen (coz I know people love it) to keep the F40, but believe me, at 700PP (and even with R3s) she becomes almost as tricky to peddle as the GT-LM... and I didn't think you guys would thank me for that... so I'm afraid it's been lost from the schedule! It was gonna be our 'beast' car, but it's too 'beastly' for good racing, imo :grumpy:

Also gone is the Lancer... basically it's been replaced by the 350Z, as that beauty can no longer run at Fuji (not AWD).

The tuned Vette struggled to make the 700PP ceiling, and felt 'ponderous', and distinctly 'un-racey... so that's not in either :guilty:

So, with the loss of the unpopular Viper, Lancer, and the F40, I wasn't able to stick to my own brief of holding onto 3 of our cars - that means you fellas have to conjure 3 tunes for race-meet one... :ouch: and I apologise for that!

Something else I missed - I didn't enter either race (Fuji or Suz) to confirm that they were 10-lappers, so I'm just assuming that they are for now

SAR & MNR Schedule

---

Ok fellas, here's our new gig. Same deal, essentially, as we've been trialing... Car & Track combinations will be locked in for this iteration of online events, and points (see below) will now be awarded to (SAR & MNR) racers finishing in the top 10 places.

Racers may run both days (Sunday & following Monday), or one of either, but will only be credited with their best finish in a particular combo for that week.

Points will be awarded as follows:

1st = 25 pts, 2nd = 20 pts, 3rd = 15 pts, 4th = 10 pts, 5th = 7 pts, 6th = 5 pts, 7th = 4 pts, 8th = 3 pts, 9th = 2 pts, and 10th = 1 point

It's STILL all about fun! The points are there to ADD fun! All the fundamentals of Gentlemen's OLR apply... I know I can count on you all to play nice. Thanks, fellas :)

Awesome Crazy!
Thanks for the effort mate - I really look forward to these events - sorry for the lack of input but i trust in your decisions.

cya on track

Great work crazy :D

Nice array of cars there & don't believe I've ever driven the Lancia Delta before so should be interesting. Not sure, along with you, whether the new events are 10 lappers or not. If they are then its all good, however if not the times will need to be slightly modified. I think the way we did it was 10 lap races = 30 mins between each, 5 lap races = 20 mins between each.

So all those cars should be fine with race tyres? If we've all basically agreed its easier to drive & battle with race tyres, should it just be listed in the schedule as 'Use race tyres only'? Or are we leaving it open to any tyre choice?

Cheers

All those cars can meet their PP-ceiling on R-boots, for sure :)

I hadn't thought about stipulating R-tyres (I do try not to be a 'settings-Nazi'...). However, as it is our intention that everyone runs with sufficient grip to give themselves a chance to race clean, I think you make a good point, sonic, and that stipulation should be made 👍

In fact, I'll edit right now...

No sweat joe, you've made plenty of contributions to date

ok, hey crazy horse, i think i scored 1 3rd place last sunday arvo. But i am lurking around and will race this arvo if i can......

We've started the series from scratch (see main race post for dates) to coincide with the online event changes, mate.

I'll be scoring your points from this week, no worries 👍

ALL SAR/MNRers

The sychronised start times have been edited, due to shorter races at Fuji (please check race post).

Race1: 6th overall
Used a Fuji tune from June MNR's to run the 350z, and was slower because of it. Bit scruffy, as per usual for my first race of the night. Hit a few cars and waited for them to pass. Was sitting comfortably 4th, when i ran wide during 3rd lap and Stonemonkey passed me. Joeninety was closing in behind. Lap 4 i believe, Stonemonkey ran wide at 130R, i took the inside line of Casio Triangle as he rejoined and i outbraked him. Due to the tighter line, i was much slower through the 2nd apex and i had bugger all drive coming out of Casio, where Stonemonkey hit me from behind, and looking in my rear view mirror, caused a bit of chaos with Joeninety. I raced on for a lap pondering whether i should pull over or not, i eventually did on lap 5, letting Stone/Joe through as well as some other racers, putting me 10th, only for Stone to fall off the track at turn one lap 6. It ended up being a 3 way battle with me, stone and i believe a Skyline, which i ran a couple of times into stone and let him back past, lap 8 Stone started to pull away, catching the Skyline, i was due to settle for 8th overall(a few racers dropped out) when on the last lap Stone and the Skyline dropped it at Degner1, i passed the Skyline and was near to the back of Stone, but not close enough for a pass. When at Casio Triangle, Stone cut it, catching him a penalty, and gifting me a lucky, but undeserved, 6th just as time ran out.

Race2: 2nd Overall
This was boring, Got away pretty quickly, fell behind Supersonic and Joeninety. Joe took a wide corner giving me 2nd. There i stayed for the remainder of the race, unable to do anything about Supersonic, and 3rd place couldnt pass me provided i kept the inside racing line.

Race3: Wouldnt Connect
Gutted too, i was going to run my F40, with Joe suggesting 2:03's as a fast S2000 lap, i was in for a good tussle...but alas, connection errors would rain on my parade.

Race4: 5th Overall
This was a lottery, with an Evo driver deciding it would be more fun to mess with the Lancia's rather than bugger off and win, it was going to be decided by the luck of the draw and who came off worse. Stone got knocked out by the Evo driver and quit after running a solid race ahead of me (i was 2nd at the time) until i was knocked off the track by the driver and dropped to 5th. Where i stayed for the last few laps.

Race5: 4th Overall Drove an F40, if you want to exclude me from results thats fine, for obvious reasons :D

I really wanted to drive the F40, so i took it against the Skylines. I like the Nissan, but i like my F40 more :D. Poor start, missing my 2nd gear off the line dropped me to the back of the pack. Some outside racers gave Joe a hard time and he dropped out at Casio, i spent alot of my time behind TORC_Dodo who seemed to be weaving all over the place. I have to say, its alot of fun being able to breeze past someone outside of the draft with ease lol. The leading pack was a mile ahead when i eventually gained and held 4th place about lap 6, where i then tried to time trial some laps to break my record, couldnt even break into the 2:03's, but at least i had fun trying!

Cheers for the racing guys! Always a bit of fun for a Monday night! :D

Liked the car selection crazy, good work :)

Race 1: Started about mid pack and got an ok start however lion-face infront was slower off the line so I ducked to the right to get past, however at the exact moment he too went right and I ran into the back of him :ouch: Lost all my speed and fell to the back. Got a nice rhythm going and was up to 2nd by lap 3 or 4. Toivonen by then had worked up a nice lead so I tried to track him down but quickly found out he was equally as fast and the gap stayed at 2.5-2.9 seconds for the next 3 to 4 laps. Then on laps 6 & 7 I must have been working the tyres too hard because the car suddenly felt like it was on ice and I was sliding everywhere. The gap ballooned out to 4.5 seconds and stayed at that margin until the end as Toivonen was too good and couldn't be caught. Good win 👍 Finished 2nd.

Race 2: Found a nice setup for the WRX before hand and really enjoyed driving it. Had a great start and was up to 2nd by turn 1. Followed joe around for some the first lap before taking the lead at the hairpin. From there drove consistently to get the win.

picture.php

Race 3: Wasn't sure how this one would go as I found that to get the car at 700PP with race tyres, you basically needed to give it the least amount of power, good amount of weight and little aero. Good start and early few laps were a battle with crazy horse and another driver. Once in the lead I managed to pull away and stay there until the end. Finished 1st.

picture.php

Race 4: The start to this race was hilarious as we all basically went nowhere off the line. The car was SO slow at the start  Got the front pack pretty quick but dunno what happened on the front straight at the start of lap 2. Lion-face was leading, I was behind and drafting him & crazy was drafting me. I pulled out to pass LF and went around and crazy followed my draft as well. I slotted in front of LF but then in the mirror I saw him go right and run into crazyhorse as he was going past. have no idea what happened there  Then at T1 I was hit off by (i think) LF to compound the confusion  Couldn't see much out of the mirror of that car & by the sounds of things in the chat room, the guy in the yellow evo was a d***head and punting everybody so perhaps he was the cause of all of that  Anyway got back on the track at T1 and pushed hard to catch up. Was in second place behind ED5TA coming onto the main straight. The yellow evo was close enough in first to be drafted so I went for his draft (he was all the way to the right) and managed to get the speed boost to pull ahead of ED5TA. However then the evo driver went back to the left giving ED5TA the draft. We crossed the finish line side by side and I just managed to win by a tiny margin.

picture.php

Race 5: Didn't really find the sweet spot setup wise for this car and was exposed, especially out of slow corners leading onto the straights. Didn't have enough grunt as well as being a tad slow in the corners. Nevertheless was battling in the top 3 for the early part of the race, then it was just ED5TA & myself. Was close enough to make a pass but that lack of power was making it hard to get a run going. Finally got it done about midway through the race. By then Toivonen had caught up and was the fastest of us 3. He got into second then on lap 8 passed me to get the lead. Next lap though he made a mistake at spoon handing the lead back to me. Then it was a final lap battle between myself & ED5TA. Very close stuff that had the heart racing but had just enough to get the win.

picture.php

So final results are:

R1: 2
R2: 1
R3: 1
R4: 1
R5: 1

Sorry again about the glare in the pictures. My camera it seems takes non flash photos too blurry, so have to use the flash :grumpy:

Excellent racing all round tonight 👍

Race 1: DNS, connection gremlins :ouch:

Race 2 [4th place]: Great to see this turn out to be a single make race, just like the Lancia race from yesterday (I still can't believe I left the car in 3rd coming out of Turn 5 in that race :dunce:) Changed the setup from previous runs to cure the understeer but it didn't help as I had a poor launch at the start. It was a good battle with the MNR racers around me, but since it was my first race of the night I don't think my driving was 100% clean (I think some of the defensive driving against the NZ drivers turned out more aggressive than I anticipated). Managed to catch up with Lion-Face towards the end, joeninety running right behind me. LF took the wider line for the last corner so I slowed a bit more for a tighter exit, unfortunately I braked a bit too far and ended up oversteering which gave joe-ninety the better run towards the finish.

Race 3 [2nd place]: Don't remember much of this race. Nearly crashed into the back of BMW_winner at the start since it was going anywhere :grumpy: I think I might have held up Toivonen in the early part of the race (sorry mate), let him pass in order to catch up with ss-88 who had built a healthy margin. Moved into 2nd after Toivonen went off the circuit (somewhere, can't really remember), then spent the remainder of the race trying to match the speed of the red Amuse. Managed to get the S2000 into the low 2'03 occasionally, still need more practice to do it consistently.

Race 4 [2nd place]: A race that would be decided by a yellow Evo... It almost looked like a lag-tastic race at the start with everyone crawling off the line, except for the one behind me who bolted off the line... again :scared: To everyone, my Lancia was *very* slow out of the hairpin because of the gearing of 2nd, will try to sort it out by the next round. Back on topic, I had enough speed to catch up with LF who was leading the race until the incident with the Evo which gave me the lead. I got a bit complacent towards the end though which allowed the Evo to sneak up on me going into the hairpin on Lap 5, I took a wider line since I had no idea where the Evo was. ss-88 then appears out of nowhere and runs with me all the way through Sector 3, didn't pull away far enough to avoid a race that would be decided by slipstreaming. Happy enough with 2nd place though :)

Race 5 [2nd place]: Had a dream start to the race, a combination of being placed near the front of the field and getting a clean launch. I got the chance to lead the early part of the race until ss-88 got past me on the run up to 130R. I dropped two wheels on the grass (my fault), and dropped out of contention. Tovonien caught up to make it a three-way title fight (actually, now that I think about it this might've been the race where I let Tovonien pass...) My connection was starting to get pretty laggy towards the end but still managed to put up a fairly good fight towards the end (I think :))

Including SAR yesterday, my finishes were:

SAR (28/06/09)
Race 1 - DNS
Race 2 - DNS
Race 3 - 3rd
Race 4 - 4th
Race 5 - 1st

MNR (29/06/09)
Race 1 - DNS
Race 2 - 4th
Race 3 - 2nd
Race 4 - 2nd
Race 5 - 2nd

I get the feeling the DNS for Race 1 isn't helping my championship contention...

Thanks for all 5 races last night guys was awsome stuff!. Was race 5 ED5STA let me sneek into 2nd thanks mate! did not pay off though!. Just noticed that i misstuned my 600pp cars if i held you up or got in your way sorry about that!. Good racing can't wait for the next MNR races.

Moment of the night for me was Lap3 final race, had just passed TORC Dodo down the back straight of Suzuka, ran an inch too wide through 130R, the rear wheel of my F40 hit the grass, put me into a spin, through one 360 i shifted down to first gear, hitting TORC Dodo half way through the spin and copping a penalty for 'collision' as he went through on the inside, the F40 carried on for another full 360 putting me in the right direction, in 1st gear and the penalty ending just as i put my foot on the floor, nearing the braking zone for Casio Triangle, hit the chicane great and caught the draft of Dodo down the front straight! I saw it coming when i was a couple of k's too fast at the apex of 130r but couldnt have imagined the result! just wish i had it on camera!

Ok - Has anybody seen CrazyHorse?!
As you all noticed on the txt chat he left the race in quite a bad mood
(i hope that was not caused by any of our actions) think it was mainly that random Mitzi

I enjoyed every race apart from the Lancia (what bucket of bolts)can we please bring back the RX7!

We need the captain back to keep this event alive.

Just been up to my eyes with work, Joe... and it wasn't so much that I was in a bad mood... I had been building all day to a massive migraine and it was really starting to kick-in... I shouldn't have been racing at all :ouch:

Wouldn't have been SO bad, but that last MNR did see me get the biggest pounding yet from randoms, esp. that Evo jerk! In the end, coz my head was killing, I thought I'd try and take him out at the end of the straight - I guess my punting skillz aren't as good as TiZ makes out :sly:

Will update the tables before SAR (sorry it's been slow in coming), and hope to see you all on track soon... TORC_vrrrm is back too, and I'm looking forward to racing him again 👍

Good to hear crazy. Was just about to come here and ask if everything was all good & wondered if you needed some help with the points table but sounds like you've got it all covered :)

SAR & MNR Schedule

Ok fellas, here's our new gig. Same deal, essentially, as we've been trialing... Car & Track combinations will be locked in for this iteration of online events, and points (see below) will now be awarded to (SAR & MNR) racers finishing in the top 10 places.

Chris, does this mean you are running the same tracks / cars and SAR / MNR times for the month?

Rob

Yeah, Rob... so you still have time to get a good points haul, in fact, I was so poor last week, one good race will see you above me, mate ;)

Everything going ok with the points crazy? Not sure if you've tallied them yet or not but last weeks results (28th - 29th) are:

Lion-Face: 6th, 2nd, NA, 5th, NA = 32 points
Supersonic-88: 2nd, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st = 120 points
ED5TA_155: NA, 4th, 2nd, 2nd, 1st = 75 points
lucag120: NA, 1st, 4th, 1st, NA = 60 points
Toivonen: 1st, 5th, 5th, 4th, 3rd = 64 points
GTP_joeninety:
CrazyHorse:
Dodo:

Joe, crazy & dodo all didn't post their finishes/points as far as I can see so that's why they're empty for the moment. If you guys can remember your finishes for SAR/MNR last week just post them up and I'll fill it in :)

Thx sonic, you're awesome! I've actually got all the numbers... my only query was about J90... but he confirmed his missing finishes to me in a pm. Your efforts will be good for a double-check though, so cheers, buddy 👍

Will do my best to have all results tallied after I watch SuperNatural tonight...

Btw... some o' you boyz might wanna think about trying out in SAR, as well as MNR, if you are available - the field is growing for the Sunday event, and you missed a great set of races yesterday :)

C yaz 2nite

No worries :)

Good to hear SAR is doing well. Wish I could make it but sundays are usually busy for me :(

See you tonight!

Race 1: NA

Race 2: Good race long battle with vrrm & tizzla. Seemed that vrrrm had his wrx setup different because it had much better acceleration & top speed. This meant in the corners we were faster but once we hit any straight he went straight past again. Fell behind both vrrm & tizz in the last sector but at the final turn tizz went slightly wide so I tried to duck underneath and we came onto the final straight side by side. Just got enough of vrrm's draft to outrun tizz to the line and take 2nd.

picture.php

Race 3: The group seemed to be split in 2 with my race having just crazy & vrrm in it. First 3-5 laps were pretty close and some position swapping but managed to make a break away from the other 2 and then pull away to get the win.

picture.php

Race 4: Back in the superslowmobile :P Was an interesting race with tizzla dicing for the lead. His car seemed to either have a little bit more HP or better gearing from 3rd onwards which made it a tad hard to keep up. Had the lead for a while and lead onto the straight on the last lap but tizz got the draft and went by to win.

picture.php

Race 5: Tuned the car differently from last week to allow for more power which seemed to be the go. Was racing in a pack of 4-5 in the opening laps and a few incidents occurred. One where vrrm seemed to go straight off at the chicane, possibly by a lag punt from myself. From my view there was a definite gap between us, no initial contact sound & there was no feedback through my wheel of a collision so if there was contact made, it was thanks to lag. Then a few laps later when it was just tizz, myself & ed5ta, tizz made a move in T1, I had to recorrect so as not to hit him and this caused ed5ta to run into the back of me, which I believe gave him a penalty :nervous: Sorry about that. Tizz made a mistake at the chicane which gave me the lead back and a good margin over whoever was behind. Drove hard for a few laps then once the gap was enough slowed and just took it easy to the line. Finished 1st.

picture.php

Finishes are:

Race 1: NA
Race 2: 2
Race 3: 1
Race 4: 2
Race 5: 1

Thanks for the great racing guys :) 👍

Cheers for the piccies, sonic 👍

Hey guys, I just need the results from the other MNR S2000 heat to complete the scores... :)

Results (provisional, and currently without some S2000 pts) posted in album (see sig link) - please, feel free to check for mistakes :dopey:

I don't know if you want to count me in points, i was racing the F40 all night. I joined to make up numbers and have a bit of fun, after all, thats what MNR is all about, right. I enjoyed myself but if anyone is to kick up a fuss i don't mind being dropped from all points where i'm not racing the correct car.

But if you are counting, I won the S2000 race ( F40 ftw! :D ) for the 6 of us that made it into the other group.

Well mate, I don't consider it to be kicking up a fuss, but I can't award points if you are running in a different car... I completely forgot you F40ed it last night - I'll adjust the points when the rest of the S2000 positions come in.

I also remember that you made an effort not to interefere (i.e. you got outta the way) of people racing for points, which gets a 👍 from me - if you want to play with cars other than the designated ride, I think we'd all appreciate you continuing with that consideration... if you got involved in an incident that affected people's finishing spots... well... I think you might see that THAT might cause a 'fuss' :)

EDIT: (from Dodo) R3 (S2000) ~ tizzy, toiv, joe90, dodo, womble

Table will be completed tonight, gents

Thats fine, i assumed you had remembered i was racing the F40 and awarded points for my position anyway, hence my post. Being dropped from the results is fine, all about having fun racing my favorite car :D

Some enjoyable battles last night 👍

We got seperated for 2 of the races though, not sure why but it was a shame as we had a healthy grid. Im going to be downgrading my connection soon as i dont use the gigs so was wondering how was the connections last week? random hosts?

It is so good when we host our races but its hopeless when its laggy. Very ugly accident in the BNR34 that Supersonic referred to was definately due to lag

Lionface not sure why you were in the f40? If your going to make up numbers at least be part of the competition

Hope to see Vrmm again, had alot of fun with supersonic trying to catch him in our under-powered WRXs ( we almost had him )

Ill try to make it to SAR this week, sounds like it was a good turnout

I'm not a big fan of the Car/Track combos and i haven't had time to test and setup the cars to be competitive. Kinda boring when your a second or two off the pace of the midpack, let alone 1st lol, not my idea of fun. I knew what times i could do in the F40 and i would have a more enjoyable time racing it and being there or thereabouts, so i took the F40 out instead.
