@Paulie - excuse us for being mere mortals !

Hope i can offer more resistance next time.

Right, Joe... just think how disappointed he'd have been if he'd gotten his ass kicked.

Normally in most races I am the one getting my arse kicked from here to the Northern Hemisphere and back.:lol: Sorry if I sounded rude, just that I don't normally do so wellm, and from all the hype over MNR with the fastest guys around I was expecting the same of SAR. I'm sure if I could attend MNR it would be business as usual ;), but see I watch Top Gear on Mondays, and wouldn't like having the sony on late at night afterwards.

Edit: Again, my apologies for any offence caused, it was not intended.

Sort of frustrating and hectic night but pretty good results wise.

Race 1: Was not prepared at all for this one. Had to go out and get something at around 7:30, so rushed back home, ate dinner as quick as possible, then had to setup my table and wheel. Then with the game booted up had to put in a super quick tune and entered the race just in time. Dunno where I started but went off into the sand early on due to no practice with the car or tune. Then tried to work my way back but for some stupid reason the carpet guard on my g25 pedals was up so the pedal base just kept slipping further and further away, making it extremely hard to drive. Managed to bring it home in 3rd.

Race 2: Can't really find a good tune to use for the viper. I have TLD tune, a FAK tune posted in the online lap times as well as an old DC tune from 650PP. None of them work that well for me so would be interested to know what others used and the lap times achieved. Started ok but quickly found my 5th gear was wrong and I was getting no drive at all from it. Then on lap 2 or so I was hit off by crazyhorse at the chicane and to compound the bad race, later the next lap my internet for some bizarre reason disconnected. Sigh.

Race 3: Love driving this car! Had a good start and there was lots of battles this race. However slightly marred by certain drivers doing huge dives into the hairpins especially. Multiple occasions I had to take evasive action and run my car wide in the corner so as not to get ploughed into. Furthermore one driver hit/side swiped me twice, both times resulting in me getting a ramming penalty while they just drove off. Nevertheless, pushed on and finished 2nd. Stuffed up the finish were I went to pull out of the draft behind tizzla but instead just knocked his car, which pushed him ahead and gave enough speed so he won. Doh!

Race 4: Tried running with R1's last week, so this week went with R2's. However R1's seem to be the way to go because it allows you to also run with more power, which seemed to be the difference this race. Competitive race for a while with some nice passes. On lap 5 or thereabouts myself, ripping_silk & another driver went 3 wide into T1. On exit ripping & I touched which caused him to half spin, so I waited and let him back infront. Battled for the next lap and half but then at turn 2, he went wide and then when re-entering for turn 3, collided with me, sending me way off track into the wall. Got back on, he let me back by, so thanks :) Then just drove around by myself until the end and finished 3rd.

Race 5: Hard car to drive with its understeer, especially in 130R. Went off at T1, lap one, so had to work my way back through the pack. Was battling in the top 3 but then stuffed turn one again & tried to save the car from going back on the racing line but couldn't, it spun into the path of tizzla and we hit which I felt really bad for :( Let him back infront and followed him and a GTLM for the next lap or so. He then spun off at T1 allowing me into 2nd place and about 3-4 laps to catch joe. Got the gap down from about 5 seconds to 1.5 but that's where it ended & I finished 2nd.

So final results, excluding random's/drivers in the wrong car:

Race 1: 3
Race 2: -
Race 3: 2
Race 4: 3
Race 5: 2

My finishes...

R1 = DNS
R2 = DNS
R3 = 5th [3rd according to CrazyHorse]
R4 = DNS
R5 = 3rd

* Race 1 & 2 [No Result] Top Gear Australia, need I say more? But I was so looking forward to driving that Evo...

* Race 3 [Result: 5th overall, 3rd MNR (after stewards hearing), 3rd GTP]

Had a reasonable start, supersonic-88 rocketed off the line behind me and went straight for the inside line while I stayed on the left. No Turn 1 chaos as far as I could see, everyone seemed to get out of there cleanly. Managed to catch up with the MNR racers at Sector 1, giving as much racing room as I could to everyone around me. Then I got held up by non-MNR drivers towards the end of the lap, made a mistake, dropped back, then rejoined with some NZ drivers (GTP_joeninety, Lion-Face and ripping_silk, first time I've raced GTP_joeninety I think).

ripping_silk parked it around Lap 5, I thought I had accidentally hit him on the last corner in Lap 4 so I immediately addressed it be letting him (and, by chance, GTP_joeninety as well) overtake me on the straight. [He PM'ed me on PSN afterwards, it seems I didn't actually hit him] Had a good battle with GTP_joeninety, managed to get pass him and then spent the last couple of laps catching the lead pack, doing 1.44~ laps.

I was with the lead pack on the last corner of Lap 10, witnessed TORC_stonemonkey and TORC_Dodo coming together mid-corner, had to swerve to avoid CrazyHorse who had been spun around. TORC_Dodo waited at the finish line to address the issue and, doing the right thing, I stopped and waited also, letting TORC_Dodo cross the line before me. So all in all, a good race, happy to have a car and setup that worked.

* Race 4 [No Result] Connection issues, didn't join the race (hopefully this will be fixed up for GT5 proper...). Gave me time to write up the Race 3 report and test the Mine's GT-R.

* Race 5 [Result: 3rd overall, 3rd MNR, 3rd GTP]

Clean start, slowed to the back of the field so that my laggy connection didn't cause a disaster. Ended up running out of talent in the last chicane anyway and stopped after a collision with non-MNR driver Schmuben. Later in the race I joined up with TiZzla and supersonic-88 who had both stopped on track (racing incident?). Stayed behind supersonic-88 while Schmuben overtook both of us. The three of us raced behind TiZzla until he went off in Turn 1 - from where I was it didn't look like any of us were near him when it happened. I slowed down to see if he would rejoin, but then had to then play catch up. Schmuben went off in the hairpin and so I slipped into 3rd place.

Quiet race until the end, around 5 laps of practicing in the Mine's, caught up around 4 seconds to joeninety and supersonic-88 in those laps. Very happy with the way the car was setup, though I still can't get into 1'58, I know it's very possible... Anyway, very happy to get my first couple of podium places in my first month of MNR. :)

See everyone next time!

:D No worries mate. It was fun to have another pacey peddler on track - I hope we see more of you :cool:

Then on lap 2 or so I was hit off by crazyhorse at the chicane...
Seriously, amigo, your Viper lagged right into me... I had already yielded the corner, but from my perspective, your ride leapt about 6 feet to the right. I waited for you to rejoin only coz it was a braking zone... not coz I'd had a clumsy lunge :)

Race 3: ...
The tap on the last (I think) lap in the 350Zs WAS clumsy - I just couldn't pull her up in time, and for that I sincerely sorry - esp. as I thought we might both be getting clear of Dodo & Tiz

My finishes...
...should really read like this, mate

R1 = DNS
R2 = DNS
R3 = 3rd
R4 = DNS
R5 = 3rd

Whatever went on between Dodo 'n' me, you were certainly not required to take a penalty. Your "fair-play" attitude is to be applauded, for sure, but we can't ALL stop when somebody spins. I'll check with Dodo... if he bumped me I'll take the 4th spot... but you definitely got 3rd 👍

---

My provisional results:

R1 = 2nd
R2 = 5th
R3 = 4th
R4 = 2nd
R5 = 1st

No worries 👍 Wasn't implying you did it on purpose as you waited :) And I sort of expected it to be my car lagging seeing as half a lap later my net cut off so it was playing havoc at that point :ouch:

Thanks mate, that makes two podium positions for the night :)

Some enjoyable racing last night, apart from some punters.

And no offence crazyhorse, but you were way out of line mate. I saw twice you completely missing your braking points and plowing into SS resulting in him getting a penalty. And a few times you took the inside line through the big turns in the 3rd sector and rammed past, This is the kind of driving i expect from randoms in clios, not the guy thats supposed to be running the show

And also a fellow NZer who is Dominating GTP comps at the moment attended SAR, he said the two TORC guys were driving like idiots and its actually put him off! he's not going to race again because of whatever happened. You guys need to pull your heads in

My results

R1 - 1st
R2 - 1st
R3 - 1st
R4 - 1st
R5 - DNF

SAR - DNF - will just forget about that one.

MNR
R1 - 7th - can't drive that damn Evo:dunce:
R2 - 7th - wrong car & SS lag punted me to the sand:ill:
R3 - 7th - was a fun race -only stock suspension setup(need to work on that)
R4 - 7th - love being in a group of these.👍
R5 - 1st - :dopey:

Was an eventful night(as everyones posts indicate).

Hope we can all move on in a positive way to try and keep this event going the way it started:)👍

@ED5TA_155 good to race you, see you next week!

After talking to Sonic, I was indeed the cause of some strife at Fuji, and the Stewards have declared a DQ for TORC_stonemonkey for the 350Z.

Thanks for your understanding, Sonic 👍

I ran races 4 & 5 (only) on the Sunday, and races 1, 2 & 3 (only) on Monday. One 1st, two 2nd, one 5th, and one DQ is 72 pts.

ok, i was thinking you would either take your MNR results or your SAR results. The way your doing it is a combined result

But whatever

Think I might end my racing career on a high - Fourth!:sly:

Seriously - I was thinking that the point scoring would not actually make the SAR&MNR any better - but having seen my name up on the board it is making me feel like I want to do better next time..👍

Thanks Crazyhorse - great work.

Name up in lights, huh, Joe... :drool: ;)

Put a link to the results in my sig so people can nav there more easily 👍

Don't mind about mine, any points I made would have been donated to charity :)

Don't sweat it mate, feel free to join in on the fun (and I'm not just saying that so I don't appear last on the list :P). Yes, I may be 5th out of 5 racers but to be honest I'm just happy to consider myself a part of MNR/SAR. As mentioned before, this kind of racing is all in good fun: the points are simply there to add to the experience. If anything, it's given me extra incentive to try and make SAR in addition to MNR 👍

I didnt realise we were to keep our own points, i thought someone would be taking pics at the end of each race for positions and proof no? I can vaguely remember a few of my placings but would have to rely on others to get them right.

Race1: First time ever driving this car, based my setup off my 350z setup (i very rarely drive 4WD cars) and put one lap in free run to get an idea of corner speeds before the start of MNR. Started 4th, was 3rd by 2nd corner, behind Tizzla and joeninety, joe appeared to be slow in this car and was wishing him to fall off the track (politely wishing :D ), which he did at degner1 and rejoined just before degner2 in a close call as i squeezed by. I had alright pace and was quite surprised to see tizzla not pulling away. But it was not to be, 2nd or 3rd lap i ran wide trying to hold onto my 2nd place at 130r, copped a penalty for it, the slower speed put me off going into Casio triangle and i copped another penalty for turning too early and cutting the chicane. I dropped down the order. At this point i decided to go for consistancy over speed, ran a solid race afterwards and believe i finished 5th.

Race2: This is the car i had put an hour into testing/setting up on monday before the night. Started 6th(?) had a good start, going down the outside i was pulling up just behind TORC Stonemonkey on the outside with plenty of room, and just before the corner he decided he wanted a wider line, not realizing i was there, tipped me and i spun straight into the wall. First sector i was down 13seconds already as the pack sped off. Going with my theory from the first race, i took it easy, slowly built up speed (managing personal best for the race of 1:58.2, fastest i've ever gone in the viper), passed a few unlucky chaps that got caught up in a few accidents, my consistancy paid off with a bit of luck and once again finished about 5th, considering the start i was pretty happy.

Race3: This is a nice easy car to drive, but i hadnt had the pace in it that i did a few weeks back. Managing only a 1:46.5~ during the race. I got a penalty in the middle of the first corner for some unknown reason and slipped back to last. Caught up in a Ferrari sandwich through the long right hander, loosing the pack slowly and being extra cautious due to the outsiders and not knowing whether i was going to be punted or not. End of the first lap, coming up through the last corner, my inexperiance at Fuji showed as i managed to oversteer the car into a spin at the crest of the final corner. Putting me well out of the running and any slipstream potential. Ran a quiet rest of the race at the back of the pack concentrating on lines and understanding Fuji. Finished 7th for the MNR's.

Race4: The F40, how i love this car. Although i'm more of a Suzuka than Fuji racer, anytime i get to race this car on fair ground against other players is always something special. I was battered about by a Clio and a couple of the other outsider cars on the track early on, found myself behind Joeninety and Tizzla, following them for many laps as they put on an entertaining show in front of me, i was too far out of reach to grab a slipstream but fast enough in the corners (due to them battling) to stay within a few seconds of them and watch the show. Following these guys and staying out of trouble, moving up the ranks, it wasnt until Joeninety lost it, gifting me 2nd place for the MNR Runners, quite happy with the place, not happy with my pace. Need more Fuji track time...

Race5: This was a great race, setup the car just befor the race start, cant believe the understeer on this thing! One of the few times i've driven this car, i think last time was with MNR at Daytona Road a couple months back. Was quite surprised i had some pace and was managing to hold onto 2nd until my own mistake at Degner 2 dropped me back to Forth, just in front of Schmuben[DE] driving a Ford GTLM. I thought he'd blast past me, but he appeared to be having a hard time controlling his car coming out of corners and wasnt as quick as i expected him to be. He had a bit of lag too, and eventually caught me through the essess where he tipped me off, he waited for me which was nice, but in an awkward position in Dunlop curve as i went past, i accidentaly knocked him, he took this the wrong way and i was forced off later at Spoon by his hand. Dont really remember much else of the race, ended up 4th overall.

Positions (from memory)
Race1: 5th
Race2: 5th
Race3: 7th
Race4: 2nd
Race5: 4th

I'm not 100% about my positions, but i dont think i'm that far off either, if any other MNR guys know where i actually came, please correct me. I think i'll be recording my MNR races from now on, be quite interesting to watch the replays, and know for sure where i placed.

I can't remember the last time a got to choose a line into the first corner - it's always dictated by whatever carnage is happening ahead of me. My apologies for the contact :)

EDIT: Table updated

no worries mate, it was clearly a racing accident, i put myself in the situation and paid the price for it.

cya @ SAR 👍

Sorry guys for muscling in your race just now - didn't realise till I was sat on the grid.
I hope I didn't get inthe way too much. :)
It got very laggy for me on lap 9, which is why I pulled over. 👍
