I'm going to do some inviting of PSN friends who I don't believe are on this site, tonight. Top of my head I can think of 6 who should be up for this .... With fast cars. Hoping my drafting buddy can make it. ;)

How many NASCAR's are in the game? It would be awesome for the 500 (before doesn't matter) if we could have a different car for each participant. Most of us must have at least a couple so shouldn't be that difficult to arrange. Thoughts?

I think there are 12 different cars, so we could limit each car to a maximum of two entries.

That would work and think would look cool in replays etc. Maybe top qualifier gets to choose his (or her) car and cascade down to 16th. So, essentially with four duplicates allowed, pole and second could choose the same car if they wished, exhausting that option for third place etc.

Ps, love that damage is Heavy for this.

There's also the Gamestop car if somebody has that.;)

I was counting that one. It looks like someone has already entered one too. ;)

Reckon your safe with that pick.

My guess is the #18 #48 #24 will be the first to get exhausted.

This race is hereby postponed, as I will be out of town for at least the next two weeks on an emergency deployment because of Hurricane Irene. I will reschedule the event when I get back in town, hopefully sometime around September 10th.

I'd like to join.

Feel free to add me to join me.

Understood mate, if you need me to do anything with this, just let me know. 👍

Cool, I'll add you when I have a chance - you may be able to bring more competition to this event, which is sure to be a cracker as everyone will be a NASCAR GT5 Pro, I guess!

We're back on with just a one week delay. Open time trials start in TWO DAYS!

Due to work I may not be able to race. Have to see how things pan out with a machine being down. If we are able to keep up with orders then we won't have to work the week ends. We'll have to play it by ear.

Time to update the diary on my phone, I have the qualifying etc still down for tonight lol.

Invite all your friends guys, who race NASCAR. I would make the qualifying a lot more interesting if there are people still to come in on last day that could potentially knock people out of the next stage :nervous:

Hi: can someone post an example of what a competitve qualifiing lap will be so I won't spend the time spinning my wheels for nothing.? Thanks.

A sub .49s will definately get you in. A sub .50 should be good enough as well.

I'll finally sign up for this. >_>

A fast qualifying setup should get you at least a 48.8/48.9 on a full fuel tank. Take off another tenth or two for low fuel. (Just remember to test in an online room, not offline.) I won't bother setting a fast qualifying lap, as I'd rather start at/near the rear of the field, so I'll just use my race setup, which runs 49.1/49.2 second laps solo. (49.0 on low fuel.)

I'll probably use the #43 that I won in the recent NASCAR seasonal, since my current car of choice (my #99) is getting to the point where it'll lose power fairly quickly in a race due to its mileage.

gr8- 1st setup saw 50.057. so iam in the ballpark but definitely not even close to a 49 flat. Top speed peaked at 183 on the long staight -don't know what I need to work on but i'll try some more. Thanks for the numbers all.

Another important thing is the line you run. Enter a turn from the outside, go round the turn on the bottom of the track, and let it go back to the outside as you come off the corner. (Do this for the trioval as well.)

If you're testing setups right now, wait until the server maintenance has finished, and do laps in your online lounge. (Since the online and offline physics are different and produce different handling and times, with offline being slightly faster.) Don't forget to change the lounge settings to the same as in the OP as well.

Seriously? I've poled the last two Daytona's (appreciate you turned up late) but these were with 48.971 and 48.951 respectively, on new tyres and low fuel!!!!! :grumpy:

Yeah, one of the 7 setups that I tested a while ago was able to go really quickly, but ate up the tyres.

I changed the gearing for a race setup (I was tyre testing at the time), and got a 49.033 with it on lap 4 of a 42 lap run. This was with nearly a full fuel tank and race gearing. I can give the above figures because I wrote them down while testing. The setup was also really loose constantly, so I could probably find some extra time by controlling the car a bit better. I'll have to find this setup again and give it a try when the servers are back up.

Might join you mate

One thing though, our previous races didn't have grip reduction set to real (and I didn't in my practicing), but this race will. So I'm expecting qualifying and race times to be slightly slower.

Don't forget this either (from the OP): "An official qualifying attempt will consist of only one driver on the track at a time, running a three lap race (from a rolling start), in an online lobby that I am hosting and currently present to witness."

So there won't be any qualifying on low fuel.

Appreciate all that mate - does it start tonight?

I think qualifying can me made from today onwards, yes.

Are we allowed to start at the back of the field if we want to? If so, I might see if I can set the fastest qualifying time, and then choose to start at the back. If not then I'll just set a fairly slow time.

EDIT: I guess I'll wear in my #43's engine in offline practice mode while the servers are down.

You would have to make sure you finish last in the qualifying race, so set a time that comes in third or worst. Get pole in time quali and you will start at front.

Are servers still down?

Servers may just be going back up soon. Instead of a maintenance message, I just got a different error.

EDIT: Yep, they're back up.

Sign ups still open? I Have a Micro So Its Okay ;)

5pm edt converting to gmt time is 10pm gmt +0 Right?

Open qualifying runs will begin tomorrow, as I'm unable to pull myself away from the kickoff of the NFL season tonight.

And yes, signups are still open all the way up until next week when open time trials close.
