You can try. I can't go for 1st place in one shot either. Try to beat the guy above you first; then the next and so on.
Try to beat the guy above using the same car with the same PI and choose a track you like or its easier for you. Then do it over and over again.
Always finish the race because it'll help to know the track. It won't happen if you keep restarting.
The above helped me before and still does.
PS: try the Renown Tuning setups (if available for the car you're using)

Seriously, I did not meant and infinite amount of time. Try a few times and look for improvements.
What I do is repeat an event to the point I can't improve anymore (series of laps close to the best time but always missing a few thousands...)
Then I go over another. WHEN I have time, I go back back to those events.
Fortunately there are a LOT of events so its never boring. Plus you get money for it having fun
PS: its not like I OCD about it

So I checked Autolog for the first time since saturday and... surprise, surprise... not only did almost all of my records get annihilated, there is also another world record to celebrate! Boy oh boy Rommie, you surely rocked that Stingray! 
And btw, I m really sorry that German son of a 🤬 broke your RSR record, take my sincere apologies speaking for the (waaaay slower) rest of Germany!

I had to do Old vs New events which I almost forgot. Was fun
But I don't think my times are unbeatable (one or two might required a bit of an effort though). I'm still way off the world records so there's room for improvements.
I just aimed for the Regionals (and got them)

Man, I really need to make sure I play Shift 2 tonight. Got Hot Pursuit recently, and the Autolog in that game is equally addictive.

I installed HP to get the bonuses in shift2. Player for 5m and returned the game to my neighbour.

I Am so disappointed with myself. My 2 WR are done with the last cars I could ever imagine.

Get my adapter from Fanatec on Monday should be back.
Damn I've missed thus game.
I really wish Autolog was cross compatible across xbox and ps3. You guys seem to have loads of fun.
Oh well my autolog will take alot of catching up after 4 weeks lol.

The post above is mine. I was at a friends house and did not noticed his browser logged in with is username.
Anyway, I have to share this while its hot. Just did my 1st world record ever.
Legends DLC, Hockenheimring 1982 with the loaner car Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 and a time of 2:26:842 and its possible to go a bit lower.
I hope this one lasts

yes surely, i'be made 2.26.4 at the second lap and i missed 2 apex. I'm playing with a fractured toe but the bandage is hard enough to le me play
