Those MN12 Cougars make me lol. its like ford had trouble making them look different vs the Tbird so they just said "F it we are going to gut the back window out and make it vertical!" Those MN12s are neat cars except when you have to work on them.

Some of the upper spec models like the ESP are starting to get collectable but you can still pick a decent one for a few grand.

Not sure, tried searching but couldn't find anything. Did find a XB for sale, through some kind of Mad Max replica builders site. Not sure what the regulations on a later model like the XE would be though.
Sorry I typed it wrong. I was saying they are US legal to import since they are older than 25 years. I so hate DoT/EPA and the Mercedes lobbyists for that law.

Let the hate beign

I rather like these 70's/80's sort of hatchback things, I always thought they were cool despite probably not being very good at really anything. The Monza is another one of these cars I really like:

The non-W&N Sunbird is up there too:

Another guilty pleasure is the Oldsmobile Aurora with the V8 in it. I've always thought these were cool cars and I absolutely love the taillight desigh on them.

My dads 1st brand new was a Monza! It rusted out after a few years in Colorado.
Oldsmobile Aurora FTW! I love those cars they look awesome.

Call me a loon, but I like the notchback design. My mother had three of these things, one LS and two XR-7s, but all ended up wrecked, not her fault at any time. They could run though. My sister had a T-Bird of the same generation when she started driving...it was painful just to try and find things on it.

IMHO, Olds was on the rebound when GM axed the division. I remember seeing Olds' last generations come out and actually tried to get my mom to look at them when she was looking for cars. The names were good too, but alas it was destined for death.

Hmmm, let's see...

One of the first car magazines I ever bought had a four-way comparo between this, the Lexus GS, the E-Class, and the 5-series. I liked the look of this, and a neighbour had an awesome-looking deep green one that helped immensely. It still interests me more than its bland successor ever did.

I've no idea why, because I thought they were hideous for a long time. Suddenly, I like the absurdity of it, the completely un-designed rear end, and perhaps most of all, the possibilities.

One of the ninetiesest cars ever.

Samba Green or nothing, of course.

Hey, Tiburon still is an awesome name for a car (though this is technically not one, but a UK-spec Coupe F2 Evo).

Infiniti-M45_2003_photo_03.jpg

Look at this doofy-looking guy. It was pretty much a Japanese-built Marauder, and few people know what it is because it was only around for two years here.

I wanted one of these so badly when they first came out, a forbidden fruit that was raved about in CAR and EVO at the time. From my understanding, it didn't have many Honda bones left from the earlier alliance, but it's still an old-school hot hatch.

Everything I've read has pegged the 4200 the massively better car. The bigger, non-turbo engine was tractable where the turbo unit in this was peaky and unpredictable. The handling was improved with the bigger engine, too. But that new engine brought some boring old taillights to the party to appease less adventurous North American buyers (apparently), and I still think it looks ace with the boomerang lights.

Specifically, this model; the 3-door second-gen. From my understanding, there's a lot of commonality between this, the Corolla... and the Celica. So the idea has always been to take one and Frankenstein an All-Trac drivetrain into it, and maybe lower it a wee bit. Basically, out-Forester the Forester for sleeper-based sports car hunting :D

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one here that likes the Monza and Sunbird.

I believe the 300 wagon was the Magnum with the front wearing the 300s clothes.

Someone give the man a cigar.

It's an oddly common thing to rebadge or rebody a car from one country/continent to another. As Chrysler decided not to use the Dodge brand in the eastern hemisphere until a few years ago, you had this, Chrysler Vipers, and only Chysler variants of everything else, as we know how eagerly the company was to make one chassis work for every badge it owned.

I have something else to add. Never knew it existed until I was old enough to internet alone, but it's an odd curiosity I'd like to see in person....

And it helped kill the damned Pacer.

I've seen them in person. Not really that impressive, trust me.

Right another post here with more.

I want this so bad :(

Neighbor had this, love how it looks, also GT1

Bonus points for this

How is a 935 a guilty pleasure?

Unless you mean the livery, in that case...

Martini ALL THE THINGS!

The idea of this thread is to post things you feel guilty about liking (because they're hideous, or crap, or unreliable, or hated by humanity, or a mixture of all those things), rather than things you like that are perhaps a little left-field.
It's not just me! :D
Samba Green or nothing, of course.
I also really like the Del Sol. Gran Turismo got me into that car. Had a drive in one a few years back and really liked it too. Only problems it has are that there are so few good ones left in the UK, and that if push came to shove I'd always buy a Miata if I wanted a small, sporty two-seater.
Another example of cool full-width tail lights.

I really want an Omni and before someone says "make a GLH", not my goal but I do want to track it at Mosport.

I've also kind have always had a soft spot for these two....

And yeah

If you like this Fusion I feel bad for you son, I've driven it 4,000 miles and hated every one!

Aw, my dad rented one back when that generation had just came out in 2010 and in the week we had it, I found it to be a pretty competent car. It also has one of my favorite turn signal sounds.

That's the year we had. Although, I will admit, I really do like the signal sounds :D
The ride quality itself is ok. Nothing to brag about, but not bad. Ample room everywhere. But that's where the good things stop...
-seat is very uncomfy to me. I can't drive it more than 10 minutes without my neck hurting. I can confirm that the drivers seat is not even straight... It leans left. Headrest is too far out.
It is LOUD. There is no sound insulation to block wind noise.
Interior is very poorly designed. Very hard to press certain buttons while driving.
The rear view mirror is in a bad spot. Needs to be higher up. Most of the right side gets blocked off...

I can at least concur that despite how airy the interior looks from the outside compared to most modern cars, it is still like a pillbox to see out of. All of the pillars extend about 4 inches inward, and the package shelf is way too high and slopes upwards.

Another guilty pleasure of my own:

I disliked everything about it at first. Now I think it's well built, practical and adorable and goes like stink for a 1300kg 1.3 minivan.
