While we're on the topic of Fords...
I'm quite a fan of the Panther cars, specifically the last-gen Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis, although the Ford/Mercury/Lincoln trio of the eighties is quite desirable, as is the Mercury Marauder. The nineties barges don't quite do it for me. The thing I like about the Panther trio is that they're rather versatile. A regular Crown Vic offers the most normal experience of the three, or you can opt for an ex-police interceptor and have something of a rough muscle sedan (relatively) to beat on. A Grand Marquis is geared towards cruising, with longer gears and plush interior accouterments. Comparing the Marauder to the CVPI is the same as comparing the Grand Marquis to the Crown Vic: the Merc is more hushed, more refined, plusher. The Marauder does offer a bit of a performance advantage, though. I do like the Town Cars, although the limo-biz stigma makes them slightly less appealing to me; if it's my personal car, I want it to appear as such.
Ideally, I would have two Panthers: a stock Grand Marquis for the relaxed daily driving, and a modified CVPI for being loud and enjoying the benefits of everyone else clearing the left lane for you on the highway. The ability to beat on it would allow for less stress when combating traffic in the city. If I had to choose just one, though, and if it were my only car, I'd go for the surprisingly rare Crown Victoria LX Sport. Appearing relatively similar to the regular Crown Vic, the LX Sport offered some minor performance, suspension and interior enhancements over the base boat. Unfortunately, these are exceedingly rare. Total production from '01-'08 was 18,329, or ~2,250 per year. For comparison, the Ford GT sold just over 2000 units each year for both years of its production.
