the remote race stopes thats it

So starting the widget will stop the ongoing remote race for you? Did you try to reinstall the grinder widget and/or Yahoo Widgets? If I start the widget while a race is ongoing, the widget will hook into that race and shows me the stats, but will not stop the race. And you're running the latest version of the widget, and the details are the same as you've used with the website?

Edit: Can the widget actually stop an ongoing race?

i think i know the problem so i didnt know you needed a friend's driver to be activated and the only friend that has b spec drivers online keeps going offline interrupting the races seems the problem is i need more friends haha

thanks for all the help

I've encountered a strange problem: If I try to drag and drop any of the drivers in the manage drivers screen, Yahoo widgets crashes. For example, if I pick a friend's driver and try to move it to the always use section, the instant the driver moves over the next one widget stops responding and crashes.

I'm not exactly sure when this started to happen but when the sorting feature first arrived it worked fine. My OS is Win 7 64 bit.

Be patient until everything is loaded (can take a long time), when it's all loaded for all friends it shouldn't be an issue.

It's a Yahoo! widget issue and not specific to the grinder widget.

Just wait, it loads a lot of data off of gran-turismo.com to get all the info.
When everything is loaded, try to move the PSN-friends.

I let the widget be in the manage drivers screen for about 10 minutes so everything should have been loaded by then. At least all the pictures and available drivers of each friend was showing up correctly. However, when I tried to move one of them, widget crashed. I can't even reorganize my own drivers. :/

Maybe try to uninstall and reinstall yahoo widgets with a computer restart in between.

( ch1potle, you're quick!)

I hope The new browser versions Firefox 6 and Chromium/Chrome 14 wont delay the widget extension much.
How much more Testing do browser Updates and their Unlisted changes cause extension developers.
Ive noticed ABP no longer blocks adverts on the First window I open as the window content loads before ABP can run.

Tried and failed. Widget still crashes. Also, when I first ran the Yahoo! widgets and clicked continue on one of the screens that popped up, it crashed the same way.

Since I did the reinstall, I lost my always/never use configuration and can't get it back. If anyone has any idea why it crashes, I would appreciate the help.

Opps, looks like the advise made things worse for you. Sorry to hear that.

Is yahoo widget the only program crashing? Could be something else in windows the widget uses is broken. It happens.

Nothing else is crashing afaik. When googling with the problem event exception code: "c0000374" i found this quite recent thread: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproui/thread/38b5ca9a-77a6-4873-bdc1-177feda608e5

It seems that someone else is also having similar problems with the widgets.

Edit: It seems that the crashing has something to do with the visual effect when a driver is dragged over another since the widget crashes the instant the driver "slots" are supposed to change places with each other. Also, when I did the re-install and clicked continue on one of the screens that pop up when Yahoo! widgets is launched the first time, there was supposed to be a visual effect transitioning to the next screen. Instead, the widget crashed.

Does anyone know how these effects are produced in widgets and what might cause them to malfunction?

I've got the same problem. I have tried a re-install and also re-downloaded the widget but still the same. At the moment I am having to run everyone's drivers without being able to constantly run some peoples.

Ok, the widget had been working for me very well, for quite some time. Over the last couple of days, however, I seem to be having quite frequent issues. This is what's in the log:

08/22/11 23:38:27.593: Server sent bad data. Retrying. (Attempt 1)
08/22/11 23:38:30.545: Server sent bad data. Retrying. (Attempt 2)
08/22/11 23:38:34.143: Server sent bad data. Retrying. (Attempt 3)
08/22/11 23:38:34.147: Could not successfully retrieve data! Will try reconnecting in 1 minute.

Does anyone have any idea as to what's going on here? It started a couple of days ago and has been happening ever since. Hardly got any races done. Any help with this would be much appreciated!

What happens when you switch to US or SP, JPN server.
and ditch the rubbish EU server do you still get the same error log...

Haven't tried US yet, but I get the same for AU and SG.

Edit: Going to try US server tomorrow, just switched off my PS3.

Edit 2: Have tried the US server and have the exact same issue. Have tried everything now short of removing and re-installing Yahoo Widgets, which is on the plan as a next step. Last thing I'll try (am doing so currently), is to run a few successive races from the website (and yes, that's all working!), and then switch on the widget and let it pick up. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll remove and re-install Yahoo Widgets. Is there anything I need to consider here? I remember people talking about having to manually remove registry entries to remove all the leftovers as well? Anything else anyone can think of here?

Edit 3: Running a few races from the website didn't fix it, still had the same issues. Switched back to SG (not exactly sure as to why), and it started the first race without issues. Did the second without issues. Switched back to US, and it had been running a few races without a hitch. Then the issue came back intermittently, and it's currently running again. So I'll give it a little more time before I go ahead with the uninstall/reinstall Yahoo Widgets process. Not exactly sure why it's doing this now, because I really didn't have these issues up until a couple of days ago.

You should not have to mess with the registry if you uninstall yahoo widgets.
You will know when you go to run the grinder, it should ask for your info again.

Since my widget still keeps crashing when I try to re-organize the drivers, I wonder if there is a way to transfer the widget preferences from another computer. I could then create my always use & never use lists on another computer and just copy them to this one.

I have tried to look for a settings/preferences file but haven't found one. I'm guessing the settings are saved in registry. Any info on this? yonis?

Just for reference, uninstall/reinstall yahoo widget will flush the registry...
This has helped me earlier...

Otherwise... the setup in registry is located here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Yahoo\WidgetEngine\Widgets\B-Spec Grinder

HOWEVER...!
Warning: Serious problems might occour if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you know what you are doing before editing the registry. For added protection, backup the registry before you modify, Then you can restore the registry if a problem occour. See Microsoft kb-article about backing up and restore the registry in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756
Link to articles about Windows Vista and Windows 7 are available in that article.

Thanks! Moving the setup from another computer worked perfectly and now I can run the widget with correct driver lists. I still wonder, though, why the widget keeps crashing when trying to re-organize the drivers.

Why would the widget be failing at the log-in ?

It verifies internet connection, starts to log in and then fails there and says "SESSION DROPPED; WILL RETRY".

I've tried using other countries, uninstalled/reinstalled yahoo widgets and the grinder, and I'm not logged into the GT5 website. I did log into the website to verify that I'm able to log in and I ran a race from the website.

Nevermind, its fixed. My loving wife changed the date on my pc. Changed it back to the correct date, reboot and reinstall and its running like a champ again.

Gday all, I seem to have a problem with the widgety thingymabob.
The PS3 is logged in, server is in stand by mode.
The widget is running logged into the same account as the PS3 but nothing seems to be happening.

The TV just has a floating PS3 screensaver telling me its in server standby mode.

The widget is up on the computer saying in order
Loading race events
Reserving drivers
Starting Race
Race Ended
It takes about 30 seconds for it to run through.
It also says 1/4 drivers in use
The credits are also on the widget but they are not increasing.

Left it like this for 30min but nothing is happening.

I know the widget works as evidenced by all the posts so I just need some help in finding why it wont work for me

Cheers

Widget will likely need to relogin to race properly again after cookie expired.
