it flashes and then does nothing :S

yep it works fine from the web siteThe first thing you should do is see whether you can start a race from gran-turismo.com. Have you done so successfully?

the remote race stopes thats it
I've encountered a strange problem: If I try to drag and drop any of the drivers in the manage drivers screen, Yahoo widgets crashes. For example, if I pick a friend's driver and try to move it to the always use section, the instant the driver moves over the next one widget stops responding and crashes.
I'm not exactly sure when this started to happen but when the sorting feature first arrived it worked fine. My OS is Win 7 64 bit.
Be patient until everything is loaded (can take a long time), when it's all loaded for all friends it shouldn't be an issue.
It's a Yahoo! widget issue and not specific to the grinder widget.
Just wait, it loads a lot of data off of gran-turismo.com to get all the info.
When everything is loaded, try to move the PSN-friends.
I let the widget be in the manage drivers screen for about 10 minutes so everything should have been loaded by then. At least all the pictures and available drivers of each friend was showing up correctly. However, when I tried to move one of them, widget crashed. I can't even reorganize my own drivers. :/
Maybe try to uninstall and reinstall yahoo widgets with a computer restart in between.
( ch1potle, you're quick!)
Tried and failed. Widget still crashes. Also, when I first ran the Yahoo! widgets and clicked continue on one of the screens that popped up, it crashed the same way.
Since I did the reinstall, I lost my always/never use configuration and can't get it back. If anyone has any idea why it crashes, I would appreciate the help.
Opps, looks like the advise made things worse for you. Sorry to hear that.
Is yahoo widget the only program crashing? Could be something else in windows the widget uses is broken. It happens.

What happens when you switch to US or SP, JPN server.
and ditch the rubbish EU server do you still get the same error log...
need help getting my B-SPEC drivers to level 40. use me and i will send u suits, helmets and tickets. thanks
Haven't tried US yet, but I get the same for AU and SG.
Edit: Going to try US server tomorrow, just switched off my PS3.
Edit 2: Have tried the US server and have the exact same issue. Have tried everything now short of removing and re-installing Yahoo Widgets, which is on the plan as a next step. Last thing I'll try (am doing so currently), is to run a few successive races from the website (and yes, that's all working!), and then switch on the widget and let it pick up. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll remove and re-install Yahoo Widgets. Is there anything I need to consider here? I remember people talking about having to manually remove registry entries to remove all the leftovers as well? Anything else anyone can think of here?
You should not have to mess with the registry if you uninstall yahoo widgets.
You will know when you go to run the grinder, it should ask for your info again.
QuinnSince my widget still keeps crashing when I try to re-organize the drivers, I wonder if there is a way to transfer the widget preferences from another computer. I could then create my always use & never use lists on another computer and just copy them to this one.
I have tried to look for a settings/preferences file but haven't found one. I'm guessing the settings are saved in registry. Any info on this?
Just for reference, uninstall/reinstall yahoo widget will flush the registry...
This has helped me earlier...
Otherwise... the setup in registry is located here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Yahoo\WidgetEngine\Widgets\B-Spec Grinder
HOWEVER...!
Warning: Serious problems might occour if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you know what you are doing before editing the registry. For added protection, backup the registry before you modify, Then you can restore the registry if a problem occour. See Microsoft kb-article about backing up and restore the registry in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756
