Thanks for helping GraphiteGB but it didnt work.
I also just tried to start a remote race from the GT5 home site.

On the site under the community tab in the blue box it says
You are now ready to start a remote race (green light also)

I click on the blue box which takes me to the select race screen
I select a race event and the entry list window opens.

Click on my id and I can select a driver.
Click OK to add the driver and now I have 1 entry out of 16 ready to race
I can see his name and class on the list.

At the bottom of that window the start race button is not selectable (greyed out)
The only thing it lets me do now is hit the cancel button.

I've got to be missing something here ?

Never tried to do any remote racing before so I dont know what else to try.
Does it take a while before the start race button is ready to select or should that happen straight away ?

I will post this same question in the remote race FAQ thread as well as its probably not the widget causing the problem

Cheers

You need at least one other driver.

You wouldnt have thought anybody could be that stupid, however Ive managed to prove that statement to be wrong again.

Hangs head in shame.

So I have to add some friends drivers for it to work, I suppose thats what the remote friends threads are about (DUH).

Appreciate the help mate cheers.

Don't go too far south!

Mixxer, you can have up to 15 friends' drivers. You do not need to fill the grid though.

I think it's time for PD to update these events...

I had trouble last night setting up b-spec remote racing. As stated above, all looks like it is working. It runs through the login-selecting track-reserving drivers-starting race-race started-race ended, and all with no results.

I did do the force reauthentication with no luck. Is the next step to uninstall and reinstall the b-spec widget?

This means either one (your) driver or your friends drivers are not available. You must have available at least one driver besides yours.

Thanks yonis for the great widget!

I was wondering whether it was smart enough to know not to leave one driver free when one was already used by his/her owner for running remote b-spec. (Hope my question is clear... -- also I apologize if this has already been asked, but I was not too sure how to search for that information.)

It's not quite that smart.

Thanks for making this widget! :)

I set it all up and in the first race it used two friend drivers as planned. But when it started the second race it only used 1 of 2 drivers (it says "1/2 drivers in use").

Why does that happen?

I "made" these friends on my own PS3, so they should not be used in other races. Also, I have the settings set to "Leave 0 drivers free" under both ALWAYS USE and USE RANDOMLY.

What determines how much money you make? Just race length? Or is it also number of drivers and their skill?

I've been running the widget for a couple months now and it's just recently after collecting one evening that I noticed it had stopped functioning correctly.

I was able to run the widget from my work computer so I'm going to uninstall (registry edit) and reinstall the widget.

I see no uninstall option for it on Windows 7.

Does this make me come first cause i keep coming last or third last :(

How your drivers do, depends mostly on their skills/levels compared to the other participating drivers... but also the assigned car plays a part in that (it's a pure lottery).
If you use a level 10 driver against a bunch of drivers @ level 20-30, you will most certainly be coming in on the last spots... If you use a level 40 driver against a bunch of (very) low level drivers, you will be almost certain to win every race.... But there is no guarantee that you win every race.... :)

Make sure to clear the network-cache in GT5 from time to time...
Also do occasionally re-authentications in the widget..
And then check that your widget are using the US for 'location'....

To 'clear' the widgets registry-settings by 'uninstall/reinstall' you will have to uninstall "Yahoo Widget" from Windows' 'add/remove programs'. And then reinstall it again.
There is no way to just 'uninstall' the 'remote race'-widget on its own.

if i had k-lite codec pack installed, the widget crashes :(. I havent figured out how to have both installed and running at the same time yet.

You sure it's the K-Lite Codec pack? I have both installed and seem to have no issues.

"Make sure to clear the network-cache in GT5 from time to time..."
sorry to sound stupid but....how do i do that????

Don't worry.. no stupid questions.. only bad answers.. :D
You will find it in the 'Options'-menu, under 'Miscellaneous' - 'Network'.
