I don't wish to tempt fate here so I'm touching wood (no jokes please) and holding a rabbit's foot (it's dead) while typing this (OK, maybe not all at the same time).

Yonis,
The v.1.1.3 (and v.1.1.3 debug version) has been solid for me for a few days (3, I think / approx.72+ hrs). I have had a few races where not a full compliment of drivers has been selected as you know - such as now, just 7 drivers - but it's not happening that often (and I usually find a reload fixes that if it happens consecutively more than once).
However, more importantly, I've not had one 'Temporary Server Issue' (that I can remember) for 3 days and the widget connects, loads a race and starts a race succesfully every time. 👍

I think server selection makes a big difference too.

Thank you

I would have to agree with the server selection. I was having nothing but trouble with 1.1.3 debug, changed to the Singapore server and it's been humming along ever since.👍 Many thanks to those who said to switch servers!👍👍

All i keep getting now is There's Nobody to Race!

I change servers, login details are correct, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong now.

I got that recently. I tried logging into gran-turismo.com first, kept the page open, then ran the widget. Seemed to sort it. 👍

EDIT: I'm currently running v1.1.3 non-debug using US as the server.

If this doesn't work for you, try the 1.1.3 debug version that's in this topic (Might need to search).

That worked for me.

Just started it's second race without problems in UK.
Gotta say this is a grinder's godsend.

Great work, Yonis, and thank you so much!

yonis,

Great widget!

Can you repost the YT vid link?

Is there a list of selected drivers aside from hovering the mouse pointer over helmets in the widget?

Thanks!

I can run Singapore from 7am to 7pm EDT flawlessly......cannot get a server anywhere in the world to run from 7pm to 7am EDT....what server are you East coast guys running at night?

had a bit of this today but the widget cleared it up without me even restarting it

Hi all

Sorry im new to this... Me and my mate have just downloaded this Widget, both got our ps3's set to server mode and we are trying to get this to work, We both have 6 "bobs" set to online but when we use this widget using these settings it will only use one of the other persons drivers so in both of our races we only have two "bobs" Racing per race.....

Race on: Short events
Free up: Atleast 5 drivers.

on these settings shouldnt we have 6 "bobs" per race? one of mine and 5 of his? and the same for when he is hosting a race?

Sorry hope this makes sense.

P.S

We have tried using both uk and us servers...

Thank you for your help with this..

John

Free up: Atleast 5 drivers.

There's your problem, you're telling it to leave 5 drivers free - ie: not use them.
Set it to 0 or 1
(But remember setting to 0 means ALL Bob's, if available, will be used so the other guy may not have a driver to use if he is also hosting races)

Also,

Race on: Short events

This should be set to Long Events (or Events of any length) as all races are now 20 laps. Not sure which version you're using but make sure it's the latest version, v.1.1.3.

Gotta try this later, you know what'd be nice? If there was an AutoGrind app for iOS and Android. That way remote racing would be even more accessible. Just a thought ;)

Hi,
started the Grinder yesterday and it just worked fine.

Today just when it tells me it starts a race I get the temporary server issue. Tried several countries with no luck.

Does anyone have the same problem right now?

Thanks for your help.

P.S.: After I tried to get the grinder to run on my Windows notebook I just installed it on my Mac, and it runs for about 4 hours now without any problems.

Thanks for the good work...

Hey there, been running the widget for a while now.

I woke up this morning to a pop-up on my PC, telling me to report it here....

After I closed that box, I didn't get a notification of a security violation??

Thanks for the widget, makes the "grind" much more bearable.
:)

Can you rename one of the widgets and run two of these widgets on the same PC with different logins ?

Wouldn't do you much good unless you have two separate PS3s. You can only be logged in to remote race to one PSN user at a time.

Yes, here are the steps:

  1. Download/install/run the "widget converter" from Yahoo here
  2. Unload or delete all versions of the bspec grinder widget from Yahoo Widgets.
  3. Using an unloaded version of the widget file, drag and drop it into the "Widget Converter". It should say it is going to convert the file to "Folder".
  4. Click convert.
  5. A new folder will be created in the same folder as the widget you converted. It will have the same name as the widget.
  6. Open this folder.
  7. Open the folder "contents".
  8. Open "widget.xml" using your favorite xml/text editor (eg notepad++)
  9. Change line 3 from:
    Code:
    <name>B-Spec Grinder</name>
to (replace "Username" with your username)
    Code:
    <name>B-Spec Grinder - Username</name>
  10. Change line 5 from:
    Code:
    <identifier>net.ricky-romero.gt5bspec</identifier>
    to (again, replace "username")
    Code:
    <identifier>net.ricky-romero.gt5bspec.username</identifier>
  11. Save/close the file.
  12. Rename the original folder to "B-Spec Grinder - Username" (again, replace "username")
  13. Drag the entire folder back to the "Widget Converter"
  14. This time it should be converting to a "Flat File" with no certificate. Click convert.
  15. A new widget will have been created. Open it.
  16. When running the widget, you will need to accept the permissions granted for each username and also set the settings again.
  17. Repeat this process from step 7 to 15 for each username you want to run the widget for.
  18. When you upgrade, do this same process and your settings will be retained.
  19. To see which username is for which widget, hover your mouse over it.

Wouldn't do you much good unless you have two separate PS3s. You can only be logged in to remote race to one PSN user at a time.
I run it for 4 accounts on 4 different PS3's.

Yes. I had this same issue. It told me temporary server issue, waited a few minutes, and it loaded a race perfect. I guess you just have to be patient.

Spend about a minute on "Logging in", then got this:

15wxz0i.jpg

Then after I closed that out, it said the widget did something bad or something and closed it.

Hmm,

looks like the website tries to signout...
If that URL was considered secure by the widget, it prolly would have just signed you out.
Kudos to Stumbles01 and you for reporting this, and to Yonis for creating a nice catch :)

Makes me wonder... is PD trying to block out the automated remote races?
