Sony have taken down PSN sign in on their websites. The PSN still works on PS3 and PSP. Its because people have found a loop hole that allows people access to PSN accounts with just the email address and birth date of psn users (information that is believed to have been comprimised in the initial attacks) First reported by nyleveia its now all over eurogamer and others - http://sony.nyleveia.com/2011/05/17/warning-all-psn-users-your-accounts-are-still-not-safe/

I thought it was a joke.. how can they overlook something like that?

They had several 3rd party "professionals", security "specialists", FBI and whatnot.. and they leave a wide open security flaw like that....cooooome ooon!...

It was up for a moment here but it didnt start any race. I could see my race progress tho.

I have only 2 online friends with bobs. My psn name is alwin22.

Just checked on my Bobs, and the widget is working like a dream.

I'm still unable to log into GT Home, so I'm paranoid about stopping the widget in case I'm unable to start up again. I know I could use the credits, as I'm sure everyone that I'm racing also appreciates.

Anyone able to run the widget after GT Home went down?

This is part of the point of storing session cookies between launches — the Widget can keep going while PSN sign-in is down if you've already logged in.

You should be able to close and relaunch the Widget without any problems if you're running v2.5.

Excellent. Glad now I updated the widget to 2.5. No reason to test it just yet, but I'll give it a shot over my lunch break.

I have 2.5 but can't get it to start up but I am online with my PS3 ???
You need to have logged in previously using B-Spec Grinder in order to have a cookie for it to use to authenticate next time. So everyone who hasn't logged in with 2.5 yet is still locked out.

Damn. I just got a temporary server issue. Wanting to see the debug window, I stopped the widget, enabled debug, and re-started it. Then it told me session dropped, and that it will reauthenticate. I guess I've locked myself out too now, till PSN is back up. :(

I keep getting server maintenance.
i only tested it once before and it worked great but when i forced it to add my new friends on it this happened.
anything i can do about this?

EDIT:nvm didnt realize sites were down :)

awesome app! love it. definitely helps alot. kudos.

on a side note. everytime i try to use v2.5 it tries to verify my internet connection and then goes strait to server maintenance. tried reinstalling it all and it still isnt working. im sure im missing something thou....

I have been running 2.5 since the PSN came back up. I shut it down earlier and now it gives this message:

Failed to connect to Sony's Servers. Make sure your computer can connect to the following addresses:

store.playstation.com
www.gran-turismo.com
eu.gran-turismo.com
us.gran-turismo.com

Is this because there are problems PSN or Gran Turismo.com?

I can log onto PSN through PS3 just fine. I read earlier there are some issues with GT Home and internet logging in to PSN?

Should the V 2.5 grinder still work?

Yeah, it seems that if you never shut it down it will continue to work. If you stopped it for any reason you're out of luck till the maintenance is over.

The was what I was afraid of. I'll check after I stop the widget and play my normal sessions. If I can log in after, I'll post up.

Update:
Set the widget on pause while I played around, and was able to restart it without any problems. Still unable to log into GT Home, so I guess the cookie is what's keeping me alive. Good thinking, Yonis.

Once GT5 home page is up and running again I'm to start up the grinder (hopefully... never used it before) MON-FRI 2pm - Midnight while I'm at work. Add me if you want in. PSN remo_of_oz
