i like how a picture of a twin-screw blower (supercharger), and how the supercharger only nets 40hp on some cars.

lol, the game is obviously japanese biased. hope they dont do the same bs with gt6.

anyone notice how HORRIBLE the non premium cars are? i decided to run a dodge ram for the truck races and well:

^ thats on a 46'' 240z LED tv

Some said it actually looks worse than GT4, I can imagine that with a big tv, all the misfortunes jump out. That almost looks like some flowery gamcube game.

What's with the not picking your gear ratios if you want. I agree with Cataclism0 to the letter! If I want a car, let me buy it. Majority of cars are rather unattainable, which shouldn't be. It should only be hard to get a smaller percentage of cars (say 10% at most, that's over 100 cars). Damage being unlocked slowly is stupid. Can't we just turn it on fully if we want and live with the consequences? No? Okay, interesting. Also, why can't we have more than one save?

That has already happened, A mate of mine works at EB games and you don't wanna know how many GT5s they already traded in. Loads of friends of mine dumped the GT series due to this release, so did I. This is not gonna happen by the hundreds, but hundreds of thousands.
Ouch.... PD better hurry up then! I don't want to see GT fall to the ground because of a few little errors...

i cant believe i went out and bought a ps3 for this game. i think i will be taking it and trading it in at gamestop and just get me black ops. very disappointed by this game. This game should not be called gt5, it should be called who can catch the best draft, the drafting (slipstreaming) in this game is unbelievably unrealistic. A 350 horsepower lotus espirit was outrunning my 636 horsepower zr1 by slipstreaming? I mean common seariously.

This is pretty much how I feel. The flaws of GT4 are STILL HERE! How is that possible all these years later? Was this game even tested at all? I think not.

I don't like the home menu redesign.

-Worst of all, why is the garage a tiny button stuck in a grid of others, its hard to get to, takes attention. Something thats used all the time like the garage should have a button that is big and easy to scroll to, like A and B spec up at the top.
-The second most used thing is the tuning shop, and thats crammed behind some less useful buttons on the opposite side of the screen. Actually, its easier to get to than the garage.
-Scrolling to the car delivery is a pain in the ass and easy to mess up/miss as its at a diagonal of the other buttons.
-GT4 had nice shortcuts, I dont remember exactly but like L1 would jump to the garage from whereever you were, R1 would go to GT auto etc... there are none afaik in gt5.

-The new garage screen is not very intuitive, easy things could be added to help, like assign switching between the premium and standard tabs to L1 and R1.

The slipstream boost is ridiculously stupid still. My 425 HP car cannot get away from something with like 240.

Real life, no freaking way! They shouldn't have made a slipstream if it's this unrealistic. Should be very slight if you're gonna guess.

oh here's something new.... another post for complaints.... geez guys... how many different colours are you going to paint this????? (oh wait you're limited with yr paint.. that's right... my bad) when they say this is it... no more updates... patches... DLC etc... then post away all your complaints in multiple threads... right now it's just hot air. it really is time to take a chill pill... are any one of you willing to set fire to your disc and cook marshmallows??? didn't think so...

I know the game is far from perfect but all this constant non contructive whining is just ott....

Well the whining will become real when we'll see the retail numbers of GT6. If it comes.

Right...we've waited so long for the game I guess what's another 3 months playing a broken game while waiting for a patch...sounds reasonable...O wait...

If PD does browse this forum, they'd be wise(like I said) to fix all the complaints people are giving, before they loose a large chunk of their customers(Just look at mavidatt's post above, imagine several hundred more of those)

I'm going to go ahead and guess that they don't read this forum, otherwise none of these problems would exist in the first place.

How could they possibly not have read that the Top Gear test track needed to have a standing start? I'm pretty sure that was mentioned about a million times

Mainly, the paint thing is just... dumb. I mean, it's so damn frustrating to COLLECT paint colors. And then when you actually get the chips, you can only use the color once! I had this sweet red metallic that I really liked and I used it on the FT86 -- I would like to paint other cars that color but it's a no go.

Plus, the Rim selection is atrocious, even for premiums.

And, finally, my biggest complaint.

Online does not work, lobbies don't work, and from what I hear it actually is a step back from the Prologue races (didn't think that was possible). I seriously hope some leaps and bounds in online races occurs in the next week or so. I waited forever for this game to play a true GT game online and, I can't even join a lobby. It's just... it's really disappointing. Almost depressing. But, C'est la vie.

The gear ratio thing is inexcusable. I can understand glitches, stuff happens, but removing something as fundemental and easy to implement as that just shows contempt for the GT fan base. Am I too dumb to adjust my own ratios, PD?

Wait? You can't adjust gear ratios like in Prologue? I've just started playing--level 8. Say it isn't so.

I am lvl 19

Ugh where are the weather races? Add a C-spec for weather races

B-spec is a complete bore

The paint thing is just dumb like everyone here has said

menus are a pain in the ass

Have some more american / euro cars after 20 skylines no one care's about skyline #36

I have 4 cars in the car delivery but I don't feel like spending 15 mins doing it

Call my crazy but if I spend 36k on tires I am going to want to have them installed.

The shadow's are a joke

Over 1000 cars 17 race car upgrades lol

Standard cars look like ****

Why can't I access the garage from photo mode? Spending 5 mins of loading to exit photomode go back to garage pick a car then re enter photo mode is such a joke

FF on replays /sigh

It is a real shame this game could be so amazing instead it's just " It's fun once you actually get to the races "

I think people need to look at this game more positively. We get a LOT for what we pay for with GT5. Whether you people can see that or not is another thing altogether. These components of the game alone, make it worth the retail price:

The 200 Premiums
Rally, Nascar, Karting, JGTC
Night Racing
Changeable Weather
Drift Mode
Photo Mode + Photo Travel Mode

Take one of the beautiful premiums around the Nurb, the GTR '07 for instance, and you will feel like you've spent your money well.

The game has lots of niggly little problems, we all know that, but the core is pure quality. I hope people start realising that soon. I think the problem may be that people have to experience some of the bad qualities first before they experience and realise the good ones.

It's worded like it must be unlocked, which is insane..

Yeah, having to unlock damage and tuning is dumb. I'm assuming you unlock gear ratio tuning, right?

I suspect the menus are weird because they have to be compatible with the PS Move. It behaves like a mouse pointer so gamepad directs the mouse pointer. That's why you press a button to do something and it moves the cursor to the item you want but it doesn't click it for you.

I'm enjoying it but really...there are some glaring issues that I just can't seem to put aside (but will still enjoy it no less)

1) Bland track selection
2) The whole premium vs standard car debacle. I would have preferred to see 500 premium cars - cut out the crap NO one wants to honestly race in - looking at you VW Type 2 bus.
3) Pretty much very little in terms of tuning and customizing
4) Weirdest and very limiting custom paint selection. Paying $3000 is perfectly fine as this is well what you can expect in reality - but hunting for colors? At least someone suggested just buy the color you want on a cheapo Toyota yaris. Hopefully the color is close enough.
5) Poor selection of premium vehicles. Why barely any Aston Martin - my favorite luxury brand? No V8 Vantage (2005 model and up), No V12 Vantage, no DBS, One-77, Rapide etc. Bentley also needs serious representation here.
6) Very bare bones A spec mode. Rather insulting actually.

Being honest with myself, Forza 3 just did almost everything right, seriously. If Forza somehow managed to be ported to PS3 to support the G25 (never in this lifetime I doubt it) and added some proper night time tracks and weather, then I'd think we have a winner.

I think the fact that anyone can start an online race in a lobby is odd. Surely it should be down to the host. We've had loads of occasions while we're sorting drinks, smokes or discussing the next motors to use, someone just joins the lobby and clicks start, meaning some of us miss out on our own race.

GT5 - Jack of all trades, Master of None.
GT5 is a chore.

I don't have a single Standard car in my garage and refuse to keep standard prize cars because they look like ****. I'm embarressed for PD at the horrible horrible textures. That's right PD they're horrible ****. If you can't do a job in full, don't do it. 200 premiums and a release 2 years earlier would've been worth saving the GT purity. You've compromised and it shows.

Every time I buy a premium car I always do so with fear because you don't know what customs can be made till you actually buy it.
Can I RM this car? Will it sound like a hair dryer with a new exhaust? Will restoring rigidity cost me 88500Cr? How much tuning can I do? Can I replace the rims. Buying a car is a lucky dip and it shouldn't be. This is ********. If I buy a car I want to do whatever the freak i want to it. Give us a color palette, let me put the generic aerokit on whatever i want and if I want to RM a Vanilla Family sedan it should be my choice.

The prize car chore: redeem ticket, wait for acquisition movie, press x to accept, sell it coz its crap anyway. Seriously PD just send the freakin prize car to my garage. Redeeming these tickets is a pointless monotony.

Level Grind: OMG level grinding is sucking the life out of me. For the fans who've raced every GT game, competing in the Lightweight K Cup and the Lupo Cup is major boring ****. I've done a million laps around the GT Prologue courses and I think after 6 years I've earned the right to get to the nitty gritty hardcore stuff as soon as I can. If i have enough cash to buy a freakin Corvette Z06 2009 at level 8 i should be able to buy it and skip these ****** little races.

Rally Licence tests: Why isn't rally a separate licence test? I didn't buy GT to thrash Mclaren's in the dirt. If i wanted to Rally I'd buy DIRT.

The SOUND: Seriously PD WTF? A Mach 1 Mustang that is barely audible? A Tuned Camaro that sounds like a cyclonic vacuum? In some cars I have to look for the rpm red light because the pitch doesn't change. I should be able to shift by ear. Use generic sounds or whatever but I want a V8 in all view modes to at least sound like a v8. I don't even car if 'realisticly' the gearbox is louder in real life, fix that **** up!

No GT6 for me.

I WANT I WANT I WANT

Do you know what you sound like? My God. I'm ashamed for you.

What bad decisions? we don't even know what those decisions are based on.
Small lip? this are based on real PRACTICAL and TASTEFUL products.

Fix what? Oh yes the jagged shadows, which obviously folks look at while they are driving.

No GT6 for me.

I agree, SHIFT2 is waiting for you.

And that's how it goes with most of the real fans....

BTW if you want real V8 sounds buy that other game on the other console....

Lol i went 160mph with a stock dodge ram today. It was interesting to say the least.

To the people defending the game by bringing up it's positives, please stop. We know how hard it was to do night, weather, physics, damage etc and we're grateful for it. What I get frustrated at is simple things such as a color palette, or resizable rims, or stupid unlocking as you progress piss me off. I loved the GT series because it wasn't about unlocking things, it was about earning enough money to buy whatever you want. It's fine if you unlock tracks and cars in the arcade mode, but unlocking the ability to tune is just ridiculous.

I think it was some bad management of kaz's part. hes good.. really good, great in fact but its about time he realised you need a bigger team to make such a big game, and they need to get a few hundred more people in and contract other companys to do certain parts.. i think they should of had all the rims avalible for every car (like forza) and my biggest gripe is not being able to change them on standards.. the paint thing doesnt get to me at the moment but later it probs will. anyway im just enjoying the game at the moment. i can be critical later.. but they will fix this stuff in downloads i think... think lol, hope! they do have a really good update system in place (or at least they said they did) or someone said that?

You don't need to "unlock" the "ability" to tune. Tuning is there from the start.
