My 🤬 god, how many shootings/tragedies have to happen this year?

:(

Those kids are lucky to be alive. I can't imagine being in that kind of situation.
First it was the batman movie then the empire state building and now this...
To many people have died. Innocent... At least no one died in this incident. I hope that 17 year old survives.

Was this a bullying victim shooting the kids who picked on him then? It's not official, but according to the story linked in the original post:

nydailynews
Several students also told reporters that this particular student had been bullied over the summer and came to the school bent on revenge. same link from the OP

I've never been bullied, and never was a bully, but like everybody, I've heard some nasty stories growing up. I don't condone murder, but if I say I didn't understand how people could be driven to commit one, I'd be lying.

I can't remember where, but maybe a year go or so, there was another school shooting, I think also in the cafeteria. I thought the shooter gunned down his bully?

Thats what happens when guns are legal...

If you're going to commit a crime, chances are you probably acquired the gun by illegal means. And if guns didn't exist there'd be school stabbings.

And if knives didn't exist there'd be school stonings.
And if rocks didn't exist . . . hold on, we are on a giant rock.

The other end of the force spectrum is Chi.
TG not many master that.

Get out. Please.

You realize most these shooters get guns illegally? So how is making guns illegal going to stop these guys who get these guns illegally in the first place? Think before you say something.

I was bullied throughout my schooling years. It did drive me to some dark places but I knew I couldn't bring myself to do this. Still, its a disappointment that people act so inconsiderately of others and in this society, don't realize that sometimes people can be driven to points of no return.

(If the child was not bullied, then the application for this situation is invalid but the point still is valid.)

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Most kids survive bullying, obviously. But I also think it is possible, with the right combinations like weak victim, no help from friends or adults, extreme degree of abuse, etc., it is possible for the victim to just lose it.

I do feel bad for anybody who suffers, or have suffered at the hands of the bullies. It is very unfortunate that there are kids who has to pick on others to feel better about themselves.

Here's the other story I was talking about:
CBS News
CHARDON, Ohio - A student wounded in a deadly school shooting has been declared brain dead, authorities said Tuesday, a day after one student was killed and three others injured when a teenager opened fire in the cafeteria at a suburban Cleveland high school........

.......Law enforcement sources told CBS News that Lane -- who says he was a victim of bullying -- warned his friends about his plans two days in advance. link

What happened to the good old days of the kid getting picked on beating the crap out of the bully, right in front of the whole school. I've seen that happen more than once.

I've been bullied and I have bullied (not physical, very weak words). It hurts and I regret doing it but I manned up and now I'm one of the cool guys who sticks up for victims. It sucks and I hate seeing some kid get picked on. Uncalled for.

If only they made it illegal to shoot people.
If only they made it illegal to carry a gun into a school.

Dang, he broke two laws right there. And he isn't legally allowed to handle a gun because he's 15. So there you go.

Of course you'd prefer that we melt them all down so that only police, military, and criminals can get them.

True to that. I think everyone once in a while has these thoughts.

But I always wonder what's the trigger to actually do it.

It must be really severe circumstances for the shooter/stabber.

I hope that we are done with these shootings. Statistically wise, it should stop now for some time.

...considering that the shooter was 15, there was no legal way for him to obtain a gun.

Ever thought he took daddy's gun?
How many gun owners don't keep their gun in a gun safe but keep it in a closet.
And if they have a gun safe the child knows how to open it.

That happens here mate, cause guns are very hard to get here.

I think you have a valid point there. It crossed my mind too, but was afraid to post it here, expecting a lot of angry reactions from gun owners.

I'm wondering if parents in America are worried when they send their child to school, not of bullies but of the victims..

Hang on a sec. The same person who stated AGW was a government scam, kk20, is simultaneously in support of government laws that would ban guns? That's a very odd combination of beliefs there.

You don't know where the gun came from. Even if the student had permission to take the gun from the owner (which I feel is unlikely), taking it to school is still a felony. The article said that he made a Facebook post stating that yesterday was "the last day of [his] life". Do you honestly think he gave a damn about whether what he was doing was legal or not?

If he had driven his father's car over some of his fellow students would your reaction be the same?

How many car owners don't keep their keys in a safe?

Yeah mate. Figures speak for themselves for greenhouse effects. Its happening, but not because of humans.

I understand the point where people are saying that even if guns are illegal, people would get them illegally.

But doesnt this point apply to canabis and other drugs?

It is pretty easy to get a gun, just popup, give your details, they do the checks to see whether you're sane or not.

Counter-point. "instead of guns, idiots would just use knives or sharp objects"

Sure. But with guns all you have to do is aim and pull the trigger. Stabbing someone requires a more close contact and logically a lot easier to dodge. Countering a person with a knife is a lot easier than countering a gunner.

Also, why are drugs banned? They are banned because of the effects etc to the human body. There are more gun related fatalaties than drug related fatalities.

Just my opinion here. Dont need any smart-ass comments. This is GTP. Not china.
