Good to see Cristiano Ronaldo CHEATING again...for all his fancy footwork he's one of the dirtier players in the Prem...guh...players like himself and Drogba diving is just ruining this game. Just a shame big clubs will never take a leaf out of Torquay Utd's book and deal with it firmly.

And can someone PLEASE tell my why David James was not sent off for the penalty he gave away against Villa?

Hmmm, I'm not a fan of that kind of play, we deserved to win but it's not nice to see players diving in the box like that, I do think he genuinely lost his balance which is probably what made the ref think there was contact, but he made the most of it. Ronaldo's good enough and fast enough with his feet to not have to do that. Rosicky did the same thing for Arsenal, he dived quite blatantly too. In fact from the sound of things all three of Arsenals goas were dubious, and Tottenham had a blatant penalty not given. It's just the way it goes sometimes, but diving is something that can be punished after a match with video evidence, I don't know why there's so little done about it.

EDIT, just caught the Liverpool match on MoTD, holy hell  4-0 at half time. They've had a shocking season but to say they dominated this match is an understatment.

Hahahaha genuinely lost his balance.

Hahahahahahahahahahaha
Ha

Your fans need to boo the crap out of him then he'd probably stop diving. Last season our fans started booing drogba when he dived and playacted. This season he seem to have cut it out for the most part.

Also did you see how he got Boateng booked, he practically wrapped his leg around boatengs. So don't tell me Ronaldo is innocent.

I'd like to see players fined or penalised after the fact. I mean it's not exactly that hard to do. And yes I know it's not just ronaldo who dives, i've seen joe cole do it, stevie gerrard do it and I remember rooney diving for a penalty at arsenal a while back so it's not realy just those dirty foregin players who are guilty.

But it's not realy that suprising seeing as it's pretty rife in the continental leagues. If you've ever watched a portugese league match you'll see at least one dive in a match. Also When mourinho's porto that won the champs league they pretty much dove and playacted their way to the final. It's a shame because they do produce some realy gifted players, but they don't seem to have much sportmanship.

Also if you look at allot of their world cup matches, especially that match against Holland.

I didn't say he was innocent, on the contrary I know he dived and I know he made the most of it. I do also think when turned before he went down that he did lose his balance and then he dived. But it was probably the losing balance that made the ref think that there was contact. He made the most of it, and there is no way that was a penalty, but I did think he lost his balance before he decided to take the dive. I'm not saying he did good or anytihng, diving isn't something I like to see in the game even if it is someone playing for Man U and we benefit from it.

Hey, what's Alan Smith's situation again? Is he still with Man U and recovering from his broken leg?

He's playing in the reserve team at the moment, the legs good again but he's not back to form yet.

Big game today for Man U, the local derby match at Old Trafford. We need the first goal and an early one wouldn't go amiss. City clam up when they play us, they'll play a 4-5-1 and try to keep Scholes out of the game, they won't put two up front.

 Well they didn't play as I expected them to, we didn't play particularly great compared to recent form but we did the job. 3-1 AVE IT. I'm looking forwards to Arsenal beating (I hope) chelsea tomorrow.

They'd god damn better beat Chelsea.

I saw that goal on Match Of The Day, goal of the season (so far)?

Btw, Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea :)

I'm happy with a draw, I would have preferred Arsenal to win, for purely selfish reasons ofcourse but what an entertaining game that was. Apart from the Drogba and Lehman incident which as comical as it was, did not show sporting behaviour, it was edge of the seat stuff.

8 points clear, 5 if Chelsea with their game in hand, the seasons looking good.

As a chelsea supporter I have to say that Lehman and Drogba act like that word. It rhymes with stunts, or Nelson muntz.

Essien is awesome though.

A friend commented this morning on how the Scottish Premier league is basically over already (which is arguably true) and how crap a league it is compared to the English Premiership... however, I had a close look at both the Premiership table and the Scottish Prem table this morning, and noticed some interesting facts...

Both teams at the top were on 44 pts after 17 games... Both teams at the bottom were on 12 pts after 17 games... 3rd place in England and 2nd place in Scotland were both on 28 pts (16 pts behind the leaders) - interesting, given that the English Prem has 20 teams to Scotland's 12... so, aside from the fact that the English league is still a two-horse race, the differences are not that huge... In Scotland, there is still only 2 teams who can hope to win the league. In England, there are 3-4 teams... proportionally similar...

Still, I'm not saying that Celtic are as good as Man U or Chelsea, but the fact that Celtic are runaway leaders at the moment is not that dissimilar to the Man U/Chelsea lead in the English Prem...

I think it's the lack of a high number of quality teams, in the prem typically there's Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man U who are all potential title contenders. They are all top class teams. After watching the games over the weekend, there's no doubt in my mind that the English premiership is the best league in the world imo. It's not that there's a runaway leader it's that the competition even for second place is intense, the quality of the teams fighting for 4th, 5th and 6th is high let alone 1st.

I like what MOTD2 did with the Lehman/Drogba "incident". They edited it and played it back in grainy, black and white footage with Laurel and Hardy, slapstick type noises over it. It was hilarious.

Chelsea just about won 1-0 against Newcastle, Newcastle missed a golden opportunity to score first.

We need Cudicini back badly damnit, hillario was awesome that night against barca because well everyone was up for it. But he's not able to keep his concentration in a normal league game.

I think this thread needs the table posted more often...
