Base Model Appreciation

I love the base model cars. The blank white racecars that you can paint. Makes it feel like its your own. I have always hated driving some other dudes car. Thats why I don't like racing games that don't let you make your own character. I'm a little disappointed that there are no base models of the nascars even though I'm not a huge nascar person it just seems missing from the game. But I did just use a base model GT500 NSX painted light blue with gold wheels in the GT500 series.

I was just running the Subaru GT300 Base Model in some of the IA events. I took it up to 600PP and ran the Nurburgring races in the word championship and the dream cars I think it was, One race I ended up 3rd behind a Sauber and Nissan 92CP but I had a shot at the lead made it to the rear bumper of the Sauber but then went off track and fell 7 seconds behind. The other race was no contest, took the lead 1/2 way through the 2nd lap and was way ahead of the McLaren F1 GTR at the end.

No pictures but it is painted using the anniversary blue metallic with the wheels painted a gold chrome and the number 69 on it. Looks pretty good, drives great and still haven't dialed in the tune yet.

I found the NSX GT500 and the HSV 010 base models to be very good and look sweet in matt black.

I love the Garaiya. The road version is such a fun little car.
I want to make a racing series with everybody driving Garaiya road cars.

This is why I'm holding out hope for a Livery Editor. As well as more base model cars. And hopefully, some manufacturer's decals, or in the Livery Editor itself, the ability to make our own decals like they can in Forza.

In the meantime, I'm buying them when I have the credits, and hoping more appear.

If and when livery editor comes in, these base models will have even more of a purpose, especially for organized teams/groups.

^ This is why I'm convinced that PD has to be working on a livery system of some kind. How in the world can you build user organized online racing leagues around a tiny number of base cars with one VERY basic livery format per car? I think Race Mod and a Livery Editor have to be coming at some point.

I bought the M3 GT2 Base model. Painted it in Interlagos Blue with matte black wheels. Looks fantastic. It has the number "92."

I love these Base Models. Just wish we had more options to customize them.

I only have the GT-R GT3 base model, the only one I ever intend to buy. Painted it in Aurora Flare Blue Pearl and painted the wheels to look like the stock '12 GT-R.

I have all of the base models, but my absolute favorite is the Supra GT500. I like to think of it as a premium Supra with aerodynamics and racing wheels. A man can dream can't he?

The BM cars are some of my favorite cars in the whole game. I have every single one of them. It's fun to see what these race cars look like in different colors.

Kind of wish every race car had a BM version, but at the same time, that would make the car duplicate issues in GT even worse. To be honest, instead of creating seperate BM cars in the first place, pershap it would have been better to have the "blank livery" as a color option when viewing a race car in the delarships.

My HSV Base Model I have kept in the matte black with black wheels also. It is my favourite car ever built and to have the chance to give it your own number etc makes it extra special. Love it

I love the Megane Trophy Base model, I promoted this car in the Wishing thread a lot and Yessss I have it, thank you PD

But I'm a little bit disappointed and hope PD will fix a little fault in their texture model of this car. Example.

This is how you buy this car. I love it. But when you paint it... you screw it...

The area between the door and rear-side window is painted with the car, where it is balck in the model before painting. It screws the fast lookings of this car.

I editted another picture, where the door post is balck again. I also painted the front wing black, where I think the car would look much better in some bright colors..

Question,

Would it be hard for PD to make that front wing (and rear wing) dependable of the color of your rims ?? It's not a livery editor as we wanted, but it's a low budget manner of making nice color schemes ??

You have to unlock it by driving the courtesy M3 GT2 in Arcade around in a race

Personally I think PD added base models in GT6 so that it would be easier for people who like to organize one-make races where people could choose their own numbers and colours instead of everyone being stuck with the same livery which can really make it hard to tell people apart, especially on replays. At least that's how I see base models are going to be used.

I'll agree with this that there is a lack of detail on base model cars. A livery editor will solve all these problems but this would mean that PD would have to watch the GT community more closely to make sure that people aren't not putting things like "🤬 you" on their rear license plates or a 🤬 on the side of their car.

I love the base model cars, once online takes off i'm sure these will be awesome for races. It seems they took the race cars and made base models out of them, even for the rallycars.

But yeah i agree it doesn't replace a livery system but it is a nice easy way to get different versions of the same car in a race.

Seems I am not the only one who loves the base models.

I think I have 5 ore 6 now, all in Tour de France Blue (Ferrari color) with Alfa Rosso colored wheels
