Base Models? What does that mean?

It means more redundant and fake duplications to the car list. A practice of which Gran Turismo is infamous for.

Strange, if we look at the other paint image all the paints are 2000 cheaper, it does not have the right icon "sun" thing, just the "water drop".

I would hazard a guess and imagine that the "sun" icon means "your car is damaged and cost includes repair body that damage", whilst the water icon suggest painting will wash your car.

That makes a lot more sense. Although you may not be right, I'm just going to keep believing what you said is true. 👍

IMO there is no need for base models at all. Just allow the players to paint every car.Just remove the livery when it is painted and allow the player to later buy the liveries just like paint chips.

Now the situation is probably this: You can buy the Volkswagen Scirocco GT24 '08 in two versions. The paintable one (base model) and the VW livery one (Volkswagen Motorsport). So if you want to paint your scirocco gt24 you need the base model because the VW liveried one can not be repainted because it is not base model and only base models can be painted. Classic pd trolling.

I think pd went this way just to artificially boost the number of "new" cars and make the list of cars longer. What would have been more practical and more user friendly would be to just make as many of the race cars paintable and be done with it.
Why is it trolling to keep the cars original livery? Id rather a base model to paint or be able to download liveries for. That way theres two. I dont care about the exact number of cars, plain matte black cars look great

Yes, I like it to see, that there are race cars, which we can be paint differently. I don't think, that PD wanted at the first reason how many cars are in the list, but rather which cars we are getting.

What? What?

Did you really not understand my earlier post?

The point was there is no need for base models. Just allow the players to paint the race cars. Allow players to buy liveries as paint chips that only work for that car. Sadly for pd the huge problem is that doing it that way they can't artificially inflate the car list by huge amount of duplicates with just different liveries. For you the number of cars doesn't matter but for pd it seems to be the most important thing.

Understood you just fine. But were not getting a livery editor. So the point is you get your factory race car and another you paint. Who cares if they have duplicate race cars? Theres already 2 908's, 4 2008 GT500 GTR's etc.

What? What?

Forza does it too...its common practice...heck look at the Porsche DLC pack...there are a bunch of duplicates with different liveries...

Forza doesn't bother with "base models" though...if you try to paint the car or add decals it just strips away the livery

I feel like from the screen shot we might be able to buy the paint chips along with collecting them, so we might be able to get past that

*gasp* I hadn't seen this screen before! Paint chips appear reusable, we can preview them on the car! YEAH!
Time to paint everything electric blue/orange...

I can't think of a real reason to include the base model of certain racecars like the SLS GT3 and ASL Garaiya.

Do you think they'll be paintable or something, or maybe they serve a purpose for a feature later on in the game?

One is just a base color (Black-white?) and the other is the livery model.

As far as we know, they're paintable counterparts of their real version. Being optimistic, we might get a Livery Editor at some point through an update.

There is already a thread about this. The assumption is they are similar to the race mod cars we got in GT5, where the base color is white, and paintable.

In an online championship for example, with base models you can have different colors (or possibly simple liveries) for each team / driver.

It's better than having the same car for everyone.

Their purpose in my eyes is simple, spec racing, and that is there is nothing worse than seeing a bunch of race cars in GT racing with every car running identical liveries/numbers, it ruins the illusion , the ferrari F1's in GT5 come instantly to mind, i never could square with the sight of a full grid of identical ferrari F1's.

I should think the Base models will at least be paintable, which is better than 12 identical liveries/numbers in my mind

Base Models for spec racing
Livery model for mixed GT3 grids

I was looking at these days to the listcar and I and some friends of my group questioned this "Base Models" presents in the official list of the game. Will finally will release liveries in the series through these cars?

Base models are race cars without their liveries. It should be really interesting to see the HSV-010 GT without a livery.

I don't really understand this. Some say that the base models are race cars without sponsor livery, which kind of makes sense, but how do we then explain that the Subaru BRZ GT300 from the recent trailer looks just like it does in Super GT?

I am believe it is suggesting body repair included when painting, see the same icons under body repair pit service.

"Oil change recommended" The oil change system is another one of my favorite features of the GT series.

I also like the new ability to purchase the paint chips. That's miles ahead of the terrible chip collection in GT5. I hated that. Some more good improvements in GT6. 👍

From what I've read from others and after seeing the caption for the picture, that isn't how it works. You still have the paint chip collection. The prices are how much it costs to paint the car with the paint chip.

I sure hope that is not correct. Its a terrible system for painting a car in a racing game.

Here's the caption on the GT6 website.

Paint
In addition to car body paint supplied in the colour of the cars you have acquired, in the future there will also be special paint items that will be distributed in online events. In addition, it is also possible to paint wheels purchased in custom parts.

Because that's the liveried version of the car. The Subaru SUBARU BRZ R&D SPORT '12, to be precise.

Hey guys...

Looks like I missed the party on this but I have a question as well. I am also unaware if this has been answered or not, but i really dont have the time this morning to do much searching.

My question is, what exactly is this car:
9Audi R18 TDI Prototype ’11

I am unsure whether or not it is the release R18 where Dr. Ulrich, Tom, Dindo, Allan, Andre... the whole gang and stuff were there to walk it in..
Audi-R18_2011_800x600_wallpaper_09.jpg

To me it's fine if we get this and it has the ability to be painted. That is a plus actually for me. Im just wondering whether it is this one or something else I have yet to see.
