Very happy with all the base cars I have driven so far... 👍 👍
...I really like the added variety they bring to the grid. :dopey:
Great feature for the organized online race community too! :gtpflag:

You have to unlock it by driving the courtesy M3 GT2 in Arcade around in a race

Im glad I had a look in this thread! I would have never known about this car otherwise.. Seems odd huh. Is there any more 'hidden' cars people can tell me about? Thanks for the tip anyway Plux! Got my GT2 base on now :D

Can anyone help me out? Is there a list somewhere of just all the Base Model cars and if so is there mention of unlocking others?

Just never heard of this and I haven't driven any of the courtesy cars in Arcade yet. Cheers.

Captain you beat me to the question, shows how long it takes me to type :)

Bump. For an answer.

Does anyone have an answer to the above questions of more hidden base models or a complete list of them that are in the game.

I love the Base Models as an idea of customisation; they are a nice touch and are the next step from the RM's from GT5 and the TC's from even earlier GT's
I would like to see PD bring base model versions of the NASCARS and the R18 (which doesn't have a base model), as well as 'premiumise' the old TC cars from GT4 and GT3 (RX-7 LM, GT40 LM, etc come to mind) but give us the ability to put our own racing numbers on them-that would make it even better.

This is why I'm holding out hope for a Livery Editor. As well as more base model cars. And hopefully, some manufacturer's decals, or in the Livery Editor itself, the ability to make our own decals like they can in Forza.

In the meantime, I'm buying them when I have the credits, and hoping more appear.

^ This is why I'm convinced that PD has to be working on a livery system of some kind. How in the world can you build user organized online racing leagues around a tiny number of base cars with one VERY basic livery format per car? I think Race Mod and a Livery Editor have to be coming at some point.

Livery Editor + Base Models = Epic

I'd agree, although I suspect a Livery Editor using preset decals rather than the ability to customise. This is why I suggest that...

It's entirely possible that PD will offer preset liveries, or a range of templates, to start with at least. Sometimes, Kaz offers us things in bits and pieces, sometimes he dumps a toybox on us, so who knows.

I'm still amused how many people miss the "You can disable custom liveries online" posts who are afraid they'll see an ugly or naughty livery. We've only posted that hundreds of times. It almost seems they're afraid we might have some fun with our cars they won't be able to. ;)

But they won't.

Remember all the wishful thinking about the event creator?

We were both on that boat. :grumpy:

Or, even better, hype train.

The SX4 Pikes Peak Base Model is awesome, too.

Another guy who likes gold/orange yellow. 👍

I'm not sure why you're so down in the dumps about that. A lot of goodies have been put off for updates, in order for GT6 to be out sooner. And really, I'm glad that GT6 is out now, and on schedule for the first time in history!

Course Maker II is coming in an update. An entire suite of online tools have to be finalized. And part of those tools is an Event Maker. So buck up man, think British! :D

MSTER232
I'll agree with this that there is a lack of detail on base model cars. A livery editor will solve all these problems but this would mean that PD would have to watch the GT community more closely to make sure that people aren't not putting things like "🤬 you" on their rear license plates or a 🤬 on the side of their car.

I don't see why everyone assumes that people will just use it to be annoying or rude. The most irritating or stupid thing people design on Forza is Monster Energy designs for pretty much every car in the game. Other than that, there's nothing ever really offensive since no one feels the need to design anything like that.

If PD did do a livery editor, I suspect it's be very basic. I'm guessing a few preset layouts, with a few more preset sponsors that are related to the car itself (i.e. Esso for Toyota, Bridgestone Potenza for the NSX, etc.) and that's it. Basically, as Thrawn said, the equivalent a RM'd vehicle in GT5.

I can see where mster is coming from though. I love designing car liveries in just about any game that can have them. For a while MCLA was my favorite but I'm not gonna lie I was so happy when my my copy shattered because some of the things people put on their cars were just plain disturbing. Im gonna guess that you have set rooms you go into but me I try to run a bit of everything and unfortunately 85% of the time the room I'm in goes to 🤬 because of someone who act like an obnoxious little cheeky bastard. I know my explanation may not make sense but remember not everyone on GT bought it to race.

Don't be surprised if you see an R18 with a painted phallus on the nose.

Though Forza did have some inappropriate stuff that people did, weren't you able to report them?

You know, those that create teams using the base models really remind me of Ridge Racer Type 4 and V. Like say, a car that's coloured and designed to match a specific team. Example. See @Dede8585's photo. :)

Admittedly, MCLA did (as you say) have some pretty sick stuff ranking very high on the Rate My Ride section, although that was probably because the servers stopped being moderated after such a small amount of time. That's why you had all those hacked cars with stupidly huge wheels and bright neons, as well as modded traffic cars flooding the Rate My Ride section as well. That's why I suspect PD would incorporate a very basic livery editor only allowing preset designs with sponsorship decals - not shapes or lettering.

Forza 1 and 2 didn't. A lot of the cars in Forza 2's auction house and online were commonly seen with quite graphic and disturbingly detailed anime p*rn vinyls plastered all over them. If a player sent you a car with an 'unlocked' design, half of the time you could guarantee it had boobs or some other variation on it. People complained, and eventually, stuff got moderated from Forza 3 onwards, and to their credit, it was handled really well. I remember an influx of people doing a 'free candy' design for the DLC GMC van in both 4 and Horizon. On both occasions, people who uploaded them were banned from the storefront within minutes.
