I had a ton of money in target gift cards that I had accumulated over the past 2 years so I bought BF premium. For some reason though when I go to join china rising maps it presents me with the buy DLC page (ps4), I thought premium covered china rising?

You have downloaded and installed the DLC shurely? :P

Ah yes, the old 'Is china rising premium content' mystery. China rising was offered to people who preordered the game and there are reports of people who have premium one-time transferring from PS3 to PS4 and China Rising not transferring along with it. While Tweets from the company said China Rising would transfer at least one person has reported that it hasn't worked and was told by EA customer support that China Rising wasn't transferable as it was preorder bonus.

I guess I'll find out in another month when the PS4 releases here in Japan.

hmmm, not sure what I'm going to do now.
edit:

what?

edit 2: one guy said you have to purchase china rising from PSN but it will be free, ironically I won't be near my ps4 for 3 weeks so I can't test it lol

It should definitely be free. I got China Rising on the PS3 as a part of the Pre-Order/First Shipment bonus. Had it on the PS3 for a while before upgrading to the PS4 where it didn't upgrade for free. I decided get get Premium anyway, so I bought it on the PS3. This meant that it carried over onto the PS4. I've got CR on both consoles and should get Second Assault on both of them, too.

Then he was correct, That is how premium works. If your a premium member the products in the PS store you are intitled to (in your case china rising) - will be marked free. The same for when the other DLCs release, This is how it worked on BF3 premium aswell. Its not enough to just buy premium you still have to go to the store and "purchase" the DLCs and install them to.

It makes sense because the premium download didn't seem to big when I downloaded it.

On a side note, after talking with origin support, I ran malwarebytes afterwards and it showed over 100 pieces of malware and removed it all. it just so happens one of the files removed ran everything made by apple on my computer which was a nuisance but I fixed it by uninstalling everything apple on my computer which is harder than it sounds and re-installing it

Yep, that's because the download is the code to unlock the premium membership. It doesn't contain any physical content.

Anyway, I just unlocked the FY-JS so that's every weapon unlocked now. I hopped on for a few rounds in hope of just to get a few marksman ribbons towards it but I ended up finishing the assignment. That's about 25 marksman ribbons in about 1&1/2 - 2 hours. I couldn't believe it ,every shot was hitting.

Edit -
Ive been trying to find out how many kills you need to unlock each weapon battlepack but couldnt find anything on it, I knew they were every 50 kills but i wanted to know at what number of kills they would be awarded as all of the weapon classes are different. If anyones intrested i have listed them below.

AR's/Carbine's/DMR's - 210, 260, 310, 360, 410, 460, 510.

PDW's(No grips) - 160, 210, 260, 310, 360, 410.
PDW's(Grips) - 190, 240, 290, 340, 390, 440, 490.

LMG's - 190, 240, 290, 340, 390, 440, 490.

Sniper's - 140, 190, 240, 290, 340, 390, 440, 490.

Shotgun's(Grips) - 220, 270, 320, 370, 420, 470, 520.

So I've been working sort of hard on my DMRs lately to get the SCAR-H SV, but DICE are going to give it (and all the others) away for free to premium members next month anyway! I suppose they've picked the handguns and grenades for everyone and DMRs and shotguns for premiums because they're the least-used weapons in the game so not many people have them all yet, but still, if I'd known they were going to do that I would've been using carbines on all classes for the past two weeks instead of DMRs. Still, free shotguns is fine by me, I only have two right now but I'm about 900 points away from my third. Maybe I'll try and get the SCAR-H SV tonight anyway just because I'm so close (~2500 points, I think).

When I read that about the DMRs and shotguns, my reaction was FML. I just finished powering through and unlocking all of the DMRs. On top of that, I also powered through the shotguns at the same time.

Once I unlocked the ACE 53 SV, the SCAR-H SV unlocked pretty quickly. The ACE 53 SV is much better than anything preceding it. The SCAR-H SV is similar and all better than anything preceding it, bar possibly the ACE 53 SV.

I didnt really like the fact that people were just being given the unlocks, As iv'e worked hard to unlock them and people are just being rewarded for being lazy by just being given them on a plate. I enjoy the unlocking process, However im sure theres plenty of people who dont enjoy playing and progressing through the game and just want the weapons for no effort so i dont blame DICE, As im sure plenty of people will appreciate it.

I don't mind too much because I like the DMRs so I'd use them anyway, but recently I've made a specific effort to use them with all my kits to unlock them all faster which has resulted in a few, maybe a lot of deaths just because I'm trying to fit a square peg in a round hole (or a medium to long range gun in a close range gunfight).

On a related note, DMRs are amazing on Rogue Transmission; once you get them dialled in you'd be surprised at the sort of range you can get kills from even though there's a fair bit of cover and you need a few hits, and you'd be even more surprised by the number of people who will (repeatedly) still try to stand in the open and engage you with an assault rifle or carbine even though you've got decent cover, you've got them down to 33% health already while they haven't even hit you once... It's an abundance of ambition or stupidity, I can't tell which I'd class that as. It's also great for displacing camping snipers while still being actually useful when capping flags.

They're not so great on Op Locker, though.

On an unrelated note, I love that you can use the MAV to push people around. I was scouting the big building on Lancang Dam and spotted various snipers on the roof, so I destroyed their spawn beacons with the MAV's 'gun' then took to just pushing them off the roof. I don't think they could even tell what was going on while they were scoped in. One guy actually died from the fall, but the best part is watching these guys being prone in mid-air for a second before they realise they need to deploy their parachutes.

Without the free unlocks, I am not sure people were going to spend the time to unlock the DMRs and shotguns. Neither weapon class is particularly great. Both are niche weapons. With the free unlocks, there might be a few more sightings of DMRs and shotguns.

After taking the time to unlock all of both, I will be using shotguns more often. I had quite a bit of fun using the M1014. The combination of darts and a full choke makes for a flexible weapon, at least in terms of a shotgun. It is similar to what slugs became in BF3, though with slightly lesser range and probably a bit better in close quarters. However, like slugs in BF3, this combination is not very good for hip firing, at least not on a consistent basis. I was much better off nearly always aiming down sights.

I was also surprised at the ranges I could manage kills. I might sometimes have to use four or more shells to put a guy down, but at least it was possible. Further, as long as my aim was good, the M1014 was devastating at the shorter ranges. As it stands, I am not sure there is a reason to use any of the pump action shotguns. Slugs are not as good as they were in BF3 and the margin for error when using buckshot or darts is lesser with the semi autos.

Lastly, when running a shotgun well, there is little more fun. It is awesome to engage in close quarters and be able to consistently wreck people when your aim is on. Engaging two or three people in close quarters is not necessarily the death sentence it normally is when using other weapon classes. Pulling off those doubles and triples that are not usually possible makes you feel unstoppable, at least until you get cocky, become a bit too aggressive, and die in a spectacular facestomp because you now think you can take on the entire other team. Not that I would know what that is like from experience or anything.

This is one of the reasons I worked on unlocking the shotguns at the same time. On the maps that the DMRs did not make sense, I would switch it up to the M1014. At least that way, I could still play fairly well and not try and force something to work.

This is something I have learned to avoid doing in BF4. In BF3, spraying and praying was an effective method, even without landing shots on target because of suppression. Now in BF4 with the reduced suppression, it is a much better idea to head to cover and work towards an engagement that is more favorable to your weapon class.

They're not so great on Op Locker, though.

DMRs are awful on Operation Locker. It is one of the maps I would run the M1014 on.

I have done this a few times. It is very funny when it works. However, it can be somewhat difficult to push people off of buildings if they have any kind of situational awareness. The MAV is not the easiest thing to fly, at least when using it to push people.

I think the stealth jet's remaining unlocks might not take so long now that I've got laser guided missiles, as long as you don't mind your SPM falling quite a bit and there are vehicles being used by the enemy often enough you can get good points by bombing everything that moves and shooting down the odd stealth or attack jet. It's hard to actually get kills with them, but you can get ~120 points for two good hits, a disable or critical and an assist, so look for vehicles near your vehicles and attack them first. I also got a couple of kills by locking on to and firing at jeeps I could see people running for, they'd get there just as the missiles arrived and die from the splash damage. The 25mm cannon is still pretty much useless, but I'm only 500 points away from the 30mm now.

Do not get your hopes up for the 30mm. The stealth jet's 30mm is nothing like the attack jet's 30mm. The attack jet's 30mm has the same 2000 rpm rate of fire as the stealth jet's 20mm. The stealth jet's 30mm has a 600 rpm rate of fire.

I got it and tried it in the test range, I wasn't expecting it to match the attack jet's cannon since that's basically what the attack jets are (flying cannons) and it would be a little unfair to have a super fast, super agile flying cannon instead. I'll probably use the 30mm from now on since all the cannons appear to be useless for anything but dogfighting, and if I can dogfight it makes no difference what cannon I use since they'll all eventually destroy my target. If that makes sense.

I got the SCAR-H SV just now, I haven't tried it yet though. Now I'm moving on to the carbines since I've only unlocked two or three and they're a very useful category. The SG-553 is as good as I remember it being in BF3, I love that gun.

So, have any PC players with AMD hardware tried the Mantle renderer yet? Is it as amazing as they say? They reckon it's so good (with two 290X 4GB cards) the game is bottlenecked even by a i7-3970x Extreme, that's a £779 CPU... That can't be right, surely?! Anyway, I'm sure only real-world multiplayer tests will reveal the truth, I've no doubt they've massaged those figures.

Last night I became one of these:
Are you saying you actually hit level 100 in BF4 already? Or you just had a really good game last night?
I just don't see any possible way someone would hit 100 in BF4 already without cheating. :odd:I have played 1,207 games in BF3 and I am only a Colonel 16.

I seen loads of people on PS4 who are colonel 100 and a few at 110 so it is possible.

What is the highest Colonel rank in BF4? I guess it could make sense if they increased the max Colonel rank to 200 or 300.

Hitting a 100 legit in BF3 takes an insanely LONG time. I wont even hit it in my lifetime.

Yes, I have already hit Rank 100 in BF4. With all of the Premium Double XP events and Bonus XP from Battlepacks, gaining ranks is quickly done. During this last Premium Double XP weekend, I had one game that I scored 284,000 points. Not only did I have the Premium Double XP, I had either a 100% or 200% Bonus XP going also. So with an Engineer Service Star, Headshot Medal, IFV Service Star, and a Rush Service Star, the point really poured in. Even being at Rank 95 at the time, 284k points was enough to rank up to Rank 97.

For comparison sake, I am a Rank 95 in BF3. That requires in the neighborhood of 13 million points. In BF4, Rank 100 requires in the neighborhood of eight million points.

Lastly, I have improved as a player in BF4. All four hundred something hours spent playing Battlefield 3 has improved my abilities. And since BF4 is an evolution of BF3, the skills gained easily translated to BF4. It also helps that I built a new PC right before BF4. With the machine I have, I am running Ultra settings across the board with a solid 70-80 fps. Being able to clearly see everything makes a difference.

@Brett
Okay I see that they made it much quicker and easier to hit Colonel level 100 in BF4. Makes sense because it was dang near impossible in BF3 without dedicating your life to it (poop bucket haha). So I guess in BF4, it is much more realistic to hit a level 100 Colonel. So how many hours do you think you have into BF4 to hit Colonel 100? Thanks for the info.

I will be picking up BF4 shortly after I get the X1. Just not sure when that will be. Still a bit iffy on the new consoles right now.

Me and my mate just got a "unable to find a server" message on the PS4 BF4. Is this server maintenance, or are they preparing the new software update?
