That's a very nice shot. It's nicely cleaned up and I like how the car looks. But the pic reminds me a bit of CF's pics, with the soft look. Maybe that's why he likes it.

Thanks, dude. :)

Nothing fancy he says!! Right....
Look at the shot, its awesome!!! Clean as hell, great reflections, love the camera, shows the brutal look of the car...and U say its nothing fancy.

Congrats on this "nothing fancy" update, one of my favourites on your gallery:)

Feels good that you liked it so much, Nuno. Thanks a lot, bro!

Lies! do i wanna know what a great update means to you then ? that's awesome mate!!

Thanks, J! Actually, this update was a pathetic attempt to scare you off before our battle in the tournament...👍

Thanks, sej. Very nice to see you visiting my gallery and leaving a comment. :) Yeah, it was 'finished' with inspiration in CF's work, excellent observation. 👍

its a great pic beerzgood. simple and fast.

Thank you, gordon gt. :sly:

Nothing fancy?! I'm utterly in love with this shot. You've done an amazing job cleaning it up and making the car feel substantial. I love it!

Thanks for commenting, CF. And in such a positive way. Like I wrote above, it was inspired by your work, and as such I really needed that approval stamp.
But never fear, I'm working on another shot (to be posted in a few days) that's also inspired by your work, but totally different from this one, I hope everyone likes it, and hope to see your comment on it too. 👍

Now, on to my next update. It's Part I of my 3000GT update.

This shot was taken on the same photo session as my tournament qualifying entry (the stealth 3000GT), but I tried to give this one a totally different mood, hope you guys like it.

Mitsubishi 3000GT SR '98 - New York

Click on the picture above this text, it will magically open a new window with an even bigger image!!!

All coments welcome, as always.

Wow. The 3000GT is simply mindblowing! it has the right dose of foreground and background, and the attention to detail on the car is brilliant, a bad thing? when i look at it for too long it makes me feel wierd! (its everso slighty not on the horizontal) but overall a cracking shot!

Those last 2 shots are great beerz. The tones and composition of the mercedes are brilliant. You also managed to get a car of which taking pictures is really difficult (imo) to look really smooth and well defined.

Also the 3000gt is really nice. The reflections on the backwindow are very beautiful as also the ones on the side of the car. I'm not really sure about the exhaust pipes though. A bit too glowy for my tastes. The rimenlargement is really sweet and gives this car a nice little extra touch.

cheers

freddy

That CLK GTR before your latest update is class, because of the lighting and colours you picked.

Thanks a lot for that great comment, SimmiS. 👍 Also, I'm sorry about the dizziness. :)

Thanks for the detailed comment, fred!
On the GTR, you liked 2 of the things that were the main goal of the image, tones and composition. The other was softness. :) It actually didn't needed much cleaning, just the jaggies (a lot of them on the front), windshield, and some of the reflections, I didn't wanna mess with the overall chromed look.

Sweet you noticed the reflections on the back window, they were a pain to get right. In fact, most of the car's visible parts were reworked.
The tailpipes were already chromed, and atending to the light source, I felt I also had to brighten them a bit, as I did with a few other parts of the car.
As for the rim enlargement, it just looked right, as this car has gigantic wheel arches and with the rims their normal size, they look too small.

That mercedes is a bit to much of a tounament killer shot to me, to be nothing fancy.;)

Thanks, Vince! I don't expect such luck running against J, though. :)

Thanks, mate. Great compliment. 👍

i can tell you that it worked very well 👍 great updates man!

Wow, my opponent snooping around... just kidding, man. 👍
Thanks for dropping and leaving a comment, I appreciate it. And of course, glad you liked the shots. :D

Don't see how you can call that CLK GTR shot nothing fancy. It is superb. I love the tone and light of the image. The car looks sweet too.
Amazing work on that shot Beerzy.

The 3000GT is just as impressive as the Merc. Very interesting look in B&W with that slight red tint.
Nice work with the reflections, the one along side the car looks good and the glow works well too. Like Fred, I am not sure about the glow on the exhaust pipes. Still, overall those two shots are very well done. Keep it up Beerzy. 👍

CLK is very well done. The location matches the tone very well, only thing I don't like it is the sign on top, other than that it is a wonderful shot.

The 3000GT one has good depth. I like the enlarge rim as well, but the glow could be better. Much smaller glow will look better, but you may also consider adding glow over the highlight of the rims because they are metallic as well ;)

Looks good, Beerz. But I wouldn't have glowed the exhaust pipes. Dodging them looks better I think. The rest is 👍

That 3000GT looks Super Awesome mate!!!
Great details all over the shot...simply beautiful!!!
Congrats:D

I still haven't got used to your new username. I have to start calling you something that 'clicks'. Tangled Drift? Drifting Web? :)

But thanks for those comments, I guess everyone liked the Merc GTR tone, it's crappy that I can't remember the steps I did to achieve it.
I really suck at coloring shots and most times it's experiments that I do, I don't actually know what I'm doing...

On the 3000GT, I promise never to make tailpipes glow ever again. :D
And the 'red tint' is a mix of a photo filter and a sepia gradient map, both faded and something else I can't remember - see what I wrote above?...

Yeah, I wasn't too sure about that sign either, but decided to leave it as it was, since from a certain point of view, it helps the composition. I should've speed blurred it a bit (half-opacity), though.

For the glows on the windows and others I used lens flares (very faded), with different sizes, overlayed. Maybe I should've faded the ones on the pipes more so they would be almost invisible, but we'd still get the notion that they were there.
And how could I forget the rims?! :banghead:

Looks good, Beerz. But I wouldn't have glowed the exhaust pipes. Dodging them looks better I think. The rest is 👍

Thanks for checking out and commenting, sej. :)
Damn, I guess I really screwed up with those tailpipes, haven't I?...
I'll try to follow your advice next time, thanks mate. 👍

That 3000GT looks Super Awesome mate!!!

Congrats:D

Thanks, Nuno!
Hope you already got a good job by now.

And thanks for not commenting on the tailpipes.👍

If you wants to add glares, it doesn't have to use lens flare
what I do is to use colour range under select
then use droplet to pick white part of the picture and set a good amount of tolerance
add a new layer, fill white to the selection, apply g.blur at 4-8 px
now set the opacity of the layer and you get perfect glares on your shot

Wow, pretty cool advice and technique that is, franz!
How do you guys come up with those ideas? :dunce:

Thanks for that tip, buddy. I'll try it out as soon as I get home (I already took notes of it on a post-it). 👍

Hey, Cod! Thanks, man. :)

It's the left turn, turning to that straight with the flag which leads to the round thing with the garden. (sorry for the stupid explanation, hope you got the notion of the location).

I'm not so keen on the look of the 3000GT, I like the soft focus effect in shots but it seems really glowy and overdone here.

The CLK-GTR on the other hand is exactly what I enjoy seeing. It's a very basic looking shot at first but then you begin to notice the effort that has been put into the composition of it all and the strange yellow faded look works really well with that car making it appear elegant rather than angry!

Thanks a lot for your input, Mog. You know I always value your opinion around here. 👍

Yeah, I think I overdone the lens flares on the 3000GT, I'll try not to repeat it again, seen that almost everyone disliked that.

On the GTR, glad you liked it so much, and I also thought that tone fitted perfectly to the car/location combo, and I really liked how it came out.
Also, pretty cool that you noticed the shot's composition that thouroghly(sp?), it was my main concern while taking it. :)

Now, this is a shot I was working on for round 2 of the tournament, but stopped after a while because basically I looked at it in a viewer's perspective and thought it, well... it sucked really bad.

And this one I'll post for you guys to see and comment if you want, and mainly for alex (:D)

Alex, do you know this place? I loved it when I went there a few years back (my very first big road trip). 👍

i want a chrome mercedes :D that thing looks awesome. where is that photo taken anyways ? looks like a really nice place. the lancer on the other hand, well, the car looks good, but i find the photo is just a little too soft, it looks as if you applied gaussian blur on the whole photo. maybe reduce the diffuse a little bit by 20% and it would look really good.

whoah nice update beerz! how did you make that mettalic merc? thats great! and yeah agreeing with jgda9rs a little more focus on the car, otherwise its also great, i love the wheels especially

lol, I know it. It's Bilbao but I've never been there. The building you see behind is the Guggenheim Museum, covered by titanium :). I guess you saw interesting car all arround that "chic" place lol.

The Evo fo this last update is interesting. The color of the car combine nicely with the scenery tone. The rims are a good choice too, but the body is too much blurred. If you had kept more definition of the car lines and reflections, it'd have been better indeed.

I've been in that exact street about a month ago!!! :D What's happening to the Merc??? It's a bit Guggenheim-ish :sly:

Great to see you here, homie! :D
Yeah, I walked those streets in the night, looking for an ATM.

It's in Bilbao, Spain. I went there years ago to purchase a Marshall 1960A speaker (don't ask).
I have another shot of that exact car even more spectacular, I'll post it in a few days.
The Evo - Like I said, I never finished it, and the soft effect was applied in a hurry, not really paying attention, just so I could put it up here for showing.

No, I didn't make it, it's a stock photo. :)
Thanks for yor comment on the Evo.

Yeah, exactly. The big (it's actually huge) bush-dog you see there (el perro) works as a meeting point for hundreds of people per hour (at least on Friday and Saturday). It's pretty cool.

And I can't remember exactly now - it's been a few years -, but I recall seeing some great machines in there, yeah. 👍

Thanks a lot for your comment on the Evo, alex. 👍
The soft look was made in a hurry for presentation purposes only, and it's really lousy, I know. I also enjoyed the combination of tones a lot when I took the car to that location.
And was very pleased with the way the rims looked in the sun light, combined with the car's color.

But I'm working on a totally different shot now. I mean TOTALLY different. :sly:

Really nice work on the evo mate. IMO it looks really well (looking at the fact it isn't finished). The glowy touch on the wing makes it a special one. I guess you also stopped because it was really difficult to get the big extra touch into it. Also a flawless edited one would look a bit "boring".

cheers

I like the colour on the Evo, nice rim choice and the background tone kinda match the rim that form a simple colour scheme. Like everyone said the blur is a bit too much, I also think it is not very appropriate for aggressive looking Evo.

The EVO is quite good!! The soft look gives a great realism to the shot!! (but maybe I would removed some blur):)
The "chrome" Mercedes, thats crazy mate...very fancy:tup:

 and good luck in the Tournament:tup:
