So I enjoy playing DiRT 2 online but everytime I go on I see high level players who seem to know what the best cars are. Here is what I think is best compared to what I used, if someone could correct me, that would be great.

Rally

My choice - Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX
Best - Nissan 350Z

Rally X

My Choice - Ford RS200 Evolution
Best - Ford RS200 Evolution/Colin McRae R4

Trailblazer

My Choice - Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X
Best - Dallenbach

Stock Baja

My Choice - Honda Ridgeline
Best - Honda Ridgeline/Dodge Ram

Raid

My Choice - Mitsubishi Racing Lancer
Best - Mitsubishi Racing Lancer

Trophy Trucks

My Choice - Dodge Ram Trophy Truck
Best - Toyota Stadium Truck

Buggy

My Choice - Never raced them before

The Evo IX was always my last choice for online rally. Absolutely hated how it performed. If I wanted to play it safe (at the expense of quick launch speed), I'd stick with the Evo X. Going all out for the win? Either the 350Z or 1995 Impreza. The latter being the best from experience, albeit more of a handful to drive.

Used pretty much everything for Rally X at one point or another. Main weapons of choice were the Solstice GXP and 6R4. The RS200 was the best of the bunch, as you said.

For Trailblazer, I'd go for the best all-rounder (Eclipse GT) if I'm in a lobby filled with Dallenbach Specials. Depending on the stage and opposition, I'd occasionally sacrifice driveability and exploit the outright speed of the Z4 Coupe (often handy on Kane Creek).

Almost never used the Ridgeline in Stock Baja. I've seen others win easily with it, but the Hummer HX was more than capable of beating the rest of the field whenever I used it. Same with the Hummer H3 in T1 Raid. Though I switched between that, the Touareg and the Nemesis if I wanted a challenge. As for buggies, Ickler Jimco every time.

I use the Evo IX in rally because I like the Ralliart livery. I'll try the EVO X, might put the AMD livery on it that I use on my trailblazer car. I'll try the Eclipse GT on Trailblazer, the RS200 gets me by on Rally X, especially at London. The Ridgeline has the best acceleration I think and handles ok but can be a handful. I hate the Hummer HX because I use behind car view and the Hummer HX interior looks god awful when not in cockpit cam, shows how it looks so good, because the interiors look terrible when not in cockpit cam! I was playing with someone on DiRT 2 yesterday and they tried to spin out my Dodge Ram Trophy Truck and their Toyota Stadium span too (EVERYONE uses the Toyota Stadium truck online, EVERYONE). I've never used the H3, I just use the Racing Lancer in Raid because its a bit faster than the Hummer H3, high level players seem to use the H3 and ignore the Mitsubishi. They rammed me off every event they could, maybe they saw me as a level 1 and thought I was new to the game, which I'm not. I never use the Z4, its crazy fast but its too much of a handful. I used it on Kane Creek against the Dallenbachs but I had a big slide and totalled the thing. The thing I don't like about DiRT 2 is that the stats change from online to offline. I'll try the 95 Subaru in Colin McRae livery. I once saw someone trying to use an Escort and lost by a lot. Using the Evo IX I beat 4 of 5 350Z's on Chapel Run because they all crashed. I'm not particularly fast on the game but I'm consistent. I used the DLC's, only got them because I thought they were exclusive content, not unlock everything. I thought Access All Areas unlocked some exclusive events and thought Trust Fund gave some classic rally cars like the old Escort and maybe the old Subaru and maybe an Evo 6, but no it was unlock everything. Have you noticed that the cars now have XMAS trees on the dash? There was one on my Evo on SP.

The Escort will beat anything in class if you concentrate on driving it. May be RWD but that makes it light. Plus it looks much better than everything else which is always important :dopey:

And avoid the Herbst buggy at all cost. It's big and loud and that's about it.

I love how the Escort looks, I don't know which buggy I use when I need to, the one with the best stats lol. I have used the Escort for the Jungle Rally, the short track took 2:00:78 (Single Player, All Star) and I haven't tried it with anything else. Did a go on it in a Subaru Impreza 07 once but forgot the time

hi,is it still possible to play dirt2 online on ps3?
Yes, servers are up and working. If you want to race add me on PSN, JASON_ROCKS1998.

back on topic

I have tested the RallyX cars on all of the LA tracks and on the straights the RS200 is best but the Metro handles better. For rally the best choices seem to be the 1995 Impreza, Escort MK I or the Evo X. For Trailblazer the best choices seem to be the Impreza Spec C and Dallanbach. For Raid T1 best choices are Racing Lancer and Hummer H3. For Stock Baja it's Power Wagon and Ridgeline. For Buggy it seems to be the PRC-1.
