Body-Kits in GT4

I second that. 'Factory' tuners only, otherwise it could get out of hand.

I can tell you guys aren't too well informed about aero kits. If factory was so great, race teams wouldn't be using independant manufacturer's parts like C-West of Ings+1. You ALWAYS see their parts on race cars, yet I don't recall seeing too many factory parts.

I agree man, some people just dont get it.

Even some factory race cars use other companies parts, the C-West silvia isn't the only GT300 class Silvia with C-West parts on it, I know each one is slightley different but if NISMO made such good parts for that class of racing surley they would all use NISMO parts, I'm not saying gthe factory parts arn't any good, but depending on the class of car, they arn't always best.

He just said they werent great. And you seemed to go against it and then for the same opinion. Which is it, my friend?

The factory parts are good, but not for every type of race or class of race car, different classes ghave different rules on the cars aerodynamics so in some cases the factory parts a best in others you need other parts.

in the game...u go to NISMO and MAZDASPEED and TRD and etc to buy all ur parts...its not like im saying they're the best..what i was trying to say was that since they have licences for using their name they could at least use their aeroparts...it would be a pain for GT makers to get licenses from veilside, c-west, etc cuz theres too many

It's Gran Turismo, everyone bows to them and hands over their licenses... lol. j/k

But anyway, with factory aero kits you need to keep one thing in mind. They're made to sell. Car manufacturers want to sell as much goods as possible so that's a major mtivation in what they build. This means they'd be more likely to concentrate on looks than what counts on the track. I don't feel aftermarket companies have this problem. They built to perform, not look like it could. Form follows function.

Agreed, many third party products are probably much better performers than the in house parts, but if you had all these different companies in there, it would become a bloated beast of a game. Of course, many of us would like to use aero parts, engine and chassis components from all our favourite third party companies, but with GT I don't think it will happen. I hope I'm proved wrong though.

I could be wrong, but I think the vast majority of third party components are used by privateer teams and not the big factory outfits. I'm thinking of the JGTC here. I stand to be corrected though.

I think that there should be all types of kits - and people stupid enough to choose drag-inducing bricks for their bodykits should be made to suffer the consequences.

I think alot of people are just ignorant about what a ricer really is. A ricer is a poser, plain and simple. Having body kits in the game doesn't make it a ricer game. A ricer will just buy whatever is cool and what everyone else has just for the hell of it without any consideration and what real purpose it has.

Just because a body kit may also look good doesn't mean it's worthless. Most of the body kits I see come out of Japan from the better tuners look good and actually have a purpose. So before you say NO to body mods use your ****ing head and realize the fastest cars in the world don't use factory aero parts. If you think it'll ruin the game you're a moron.

A standing ovation.

Anyway, I see no reason why bodykits should not be added...true, they may take development time etc, but I think that aesthetic appeal should not be interpreted as 'rice'. I believe that if cars were totally designed for peak performance, we wouldn't have the multitude of different vehicle shapes today.

Even if the kits do not add to the performance of the car, is there any harm making your car look different? Take the Veilside kit for example. I think that it looks really good, and while it may even be a little detrimental to performance due to its 'unaerodynamic' shape, what's wrong with modding your car with it? Does wanting to make my ride look different and nicer (at least in my opinion) make me a 'ricer'? It's just another form of artistic expression...

There may or may not be kits introduced in GT4, we won't know until it comes out, though printed evidence seems to suggest the former. What I'm surprised is at the considerable resistance to the addition of kits into GT4. Sure, I can play NFSU or TXR and mod my car to the extreme, but do I have enough cash to buy these games? If rental services aren't easily accessable, I would have to buy more games, and they don't come cheap.

In addition, the GT series has the most realistic car control and physics compared to their contemporaries. I would love to drift in a modded S15 in GT4 (that is, if kits are introduced), but not so in NFSU. Why? Because the car control in NFSU, imho, is really poor and simplistic compared to the GT series. For me, there is no sense of 'drift satisfaction'.

Just my 2 cents worth :)

Amen. There is nothing wrong with wanting your car to look good. If you think havng a nice looking car makes you a ricer then I tihnk you need a different hobby because that's just plain ignorant. Why would you take your car to get washed? So it's clean and looks nice. Why would you get scratches and dents repaired? So it's looks better. Same principal with kits, but on a higher level. Not to mention aerodynamic uses as well.

I think most people agree that body kits would be a good thing. But I don't think that this is in Mr. Yamauchi's vision of the game. I'd like to be proved wrong and that the reason they have delayed the release date is because they've now acquired the rights to put loads of companies products in the game.

I'm hoping to get a ps2 soon...hopefully i will be able to make some GT4 drift vids with some really awesome bodykitted (is there even such a word?? :) ) Japanese car :D

i think body kits are going to be way cool

and i also cant wait til the 11/17/03 i think

the thing is ,when the game comes out and out of the cars that can have body kits witch car do i mod first:boggled: :D

im not sure though
but if they are in GT4 (Lambos) then i got to try and get the funds pronto!!:D

Please refrain from using "Japanese", it's a racial slur. It's like saying: "Oh, I love those n*gger cars like the Escalade and Navigator."

I sure didn't, and you know what so do I, and that is twice as rare. ;)

if we want a racing game with heaps of mods, we should just head towards NFS Underground.

How about if you want realistic handling? nfsu, while good, just doesn't have that quality...

Won't it be better to have a racing game with heaps of mods and plays realistically?
