Body-Kits in GT4

I'm all for them. GT is a driving simulator, and has been since day 1. It's not all about racing and creating the fastest car you can, I think it's pretty nice that you can take a car and add what you want.
Personally, I like to marvel at the details in GT, it's nice to watch replays of your nice car going around a track. I'm not saying that it makes the game, but it's just nice.
Saying that including body kits in GT would make the dev's work harder is true, but for a game of this level it wouldn't really be a problem. Take into consideration that the games engine is very advanced, and that they really wouldn't need to do alot to compensate toe the dynamics. IMO, if PD wanted to save time in the long run they have made the engine to calculate things _as is_ - Immagine all the work they'd need to do if it was defined by each car. If they've gone at it fully fledged, it'll calculate universally depending on the car.
if so, adding kits wouldn't be too hard. It'd just be another nice feature to a brilliant game, and at the end of the day if you don't like them, don't buy them. The same was as the people don't like TCS and ASM choose to turn them off. If you don't want to be able to add more dynamics to your car, don't.

PD isn't going to waste time modeling body kits. Do you know how long it takes to model a 3D object, let alone a 5,000 polygon car? Let's not forget you still have the programming to do.

Gran Turismo 1, 2, and 3 never had body kits in them, what makes you think GT4 will have body kits? Just because some noob says he would like to see them in GT4, because he thinks they're "off the hook"?

Why do you people keep insisting that they're will be body kits in GT4. Have you seen any hint of fiber glass in preview screenshots of GT4? (Please don't reply with pictures of the Race Modified Supras, Celicas, Skylines, Vipers, etc. I know the difference.)

I believe CrackHoor said it the best in the 4th post of this thread:

Yes, if you want to have cars that have body kits, please play TXR. It's a fun game and you'll enjoy it. If you're looking for body kits in GT, then you sir, are playing the wrong game.

I'm fully aware of how long it takes to model, I model high poly cars for advertisments and such. Granted, it takes time to make sure your models are low poly for games, but body kits really shouldn't take alot of time.
How has CrackHoor got the best post? YOU may want to reduce the weight of the cars, but it's a game, not everyone has the same objectives. I don't really care about the performance, weight and other aspects. i enjoy the game how I play it.

this is what i say...
if they add performance yes go ahead and add them. In my last post in this thread i said that adding some show to your car is not a bad thing, but when you think about it GT is about racing and making those times. If the kits actually are more towards performance add them. (weather they have show or not)
For the ones that say bodykits can't add to your performance, they can but not alot and if not designed well can actually take away from your cars performance.
And as for that veilside kit it definitely is useless.

Right now i am sleepy (didn't sleep last night) so i am just rambling to make a story short i agree with neon duke.

as for the name of the "winglits" i believe some poeple call it "Canard Bumper Flares" weather this is its true name, i don't know.

That would make sense. On an airplane, canards are small elevators in front of the main wings, on the nose of the plane. Sometimes they take the place of the rear stabilizers, sometimes not.

I think full kids are not really needed, because they would only add more weight to your car ,but stuff like stickers and logo's to make it unique are not a bad idea

Have you read any of the above, ricer style kits add weight, aero kits increase performance.

Damn you're dumb. Fiberglass isn't the only material body kits are made out of!!! Alot of the time manufacturers won't use fiberglass because it cracks, and they'll use other materials that will bend and flex will cornering or taking damage, instead of just plain breaking.

Also, PD IS already working on adding kits. The only companies mentioned so far to my knowledge are C-West and GP Sports. I'd find the exact quote but I don't wanna waste anymore time on you and your thick head. You can go cry now.

Hey, if you can't show the proof, why should anyone believe you?

Here's the article.

PSM magazine
GT4 Feature Article
PSM Number 76 October 2003 Gran Turismo 4 Vol. 7
Page 49

"The team is hard at work adding visual mods, like bodykits from companies such as C-West and GP Sports, but there are no promises - there is so little timethat it's highly unlikely that all 500 cars will recieve this loving touch. We're predicting that most of the visual mods are limited to Japanese cars and particularly Polyphony Digital favorites such as the 350Z, S2000, and Supra."

Here's a summary. There will be body kits. Due to time constraints not all cars will have kits available for them.

Don't you get it by now? I own you son.

PSM usually and quite frequently make errors (because they never seem to know what they're talking about). They're probably referring to Race Modification.

But, we'll see when GT4 comes out. To those who are hell bent for body kits, I bet you'll be sorely disappointed on that day.

So after interviewing and spending time with PD they tell us that body kits will be in, yet you insist they are wrong. You think they just made it up? They travel to meet and interview the people making the game to get facts, yet they have no bloody clue what they're talking about even though PD told them so. You're going through such denial. Body kits will be in the game. Get over it.

wooohhooooooo!!! now let's close this $#!%!!
There was a similar quote in gameinformer.Do you beleive?
I guess you want the truth.....................YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Race Modification - An option in the original Gran Turismo game, where the user could modify a stock car into a race car, similar or exact to the cars that run in JGTC, WRC, ALMS, NASCAR, and other racing venues.

Notice the difference? Only the latter should be in GT4. The first does not improve anything besides looks.

When people see a JGTC Supra in GT4, they automatically think body kit, and that's where the confusion starts.

i guess i'm just not used to your terminoligy. you have divided ricer bodykits and functional bodykits into "bodykits" and "race modifications" respectively. and ive never had a legitimate car discussion and used or heard the term "race modifications". well im gonna keep myself out of this viscious cycle once and for all

GP Sports!!! I'd love to go drifting in an S13 with the G4 aero kit!

I can't believe this thread is still going.
Why do people keep posting that picture of that fugly veilside s14? Veilside=evil!

I want kits like this in GT4. Here we go, big opening in the front for more air into the intercooler, widened fenders for some wider/lower offset wheels, simple design..orange paint... Sweetness.

Some of the JGTC cars do have body kits. True some are full one piece bodies, but the rest are body kits. I don't think you understand this quite well, Viper. These cars have body kits that improve the aerodynamics as well as lighten the car further through the use of lighter materials such as fiber glass, and carbon fiber. I will say it one more time......The only defining factor in a body kit is: a replacement of the body panels. Everyone needs to get this through their heads and drop this all ready. GT4 is going to have body kits of some sort. This is a good thing as it will bring more depth to the game, end of story.;)

I love that RPS13, I have a video of it drifting somewhere.
I agree that a simple body kit thats main purpose is functionality, is more likely to make it into GT4. On the other hand, I would love to see some Veilside kits thrown in for good measure. :D ;) :D

Ahhh..anything but Veilside. Veilside is the most vomit-inducing body kit manufacturer in the world. The only thing worse is the companies that rip off Veilside's style. :D
