Borderlands 2

Yeah, I turned that off on day one. Horrible.

Some new info, TJ13's going to love this (and I quite like it myself)! I think it was announced in Gearbox's PAX East panel today:

Gearbox is going to release a new playthrough on April 2. Its called Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode. Also being released on April 2 is a level cap raise pack, which includes pearlescent weapons(free for season pass holders, $5.00 for everyone else)

For the Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, you to have to be level 50 to start it. Its an entirely new play through(3rd playthrough), which means the difficulty will be scaled much higher.
It will be released on April 2 for free.

Summary of reveals during the event(courtesy of techercizer)

Finally
But I just got to thinking now, Level 61 which is 11 levels and a playthrough 3 (making me thinks I might have to respec) Since didn't playthough 1 or 2 was like half way like 32/33 then 16/17. Unless I am not seeing exact numbers.

Also Pearls coming back (hoping to maybe have ammo regen)

Yeah, I'm quite excited about this news. I do wonder if we'll have to replace entire inventories every level beyond 50 though, or if our legendary 50s will take us to, say, 55 before they become useless. In any case, I'm glad I didn't spend too much time farming and I guess I'll be spending some time getting one of my Axtons to lv50 before the 2nd! Should be alright, both are at the start of TVH, both lv32.

What I am wondering is what they are gonna do about the Evil Smasher. It still is game-breaking and would pretty much destroy any difficulty the third playthrough provided.

The 6th class looks really crazy, but it's kinda cool that you can play a psycho now. Although I am wondering if they are gonna make a character more based around controlling the creatures of Pandora. That would be cool, especially with Varkids.

So why not just avoid using the Evil Smasher glitch? That's what I've done, I've never knowingly witnessed anyone abusing it either. It's not as if it's a bug that affects everyone whether they want it to or not (unlike the Bee/CC combo), it's up to you to trigger it.

As for your other point, I think the fourth campaign DLC will be the last piece of DLC for Borderlands 2. Maybe we'll see some new cosmetic items or another level cap increase towards the end of the game's life but I'd be really surprised if they'd add something as big as a new character without another campaign DLC shortly afterwards.

But here is the thing: they nerfed The Bee/CC because it was "op".
but they let the evil smasher stay in the game.
don't you find it, ironic?

Well, not really, the Bee/CC combo was always glitched for everyone, the Evil Smasher is a glitch you have to trigger. If you wanted to use the Bee with the CC you had to accept you were using something overpowered, if you want to use the Evil Smasher you can do so without breaking the game, it's up to the player to trick the game to start the glitch.

Then again it has to be said that Gearbox are again showing their amateur side by leaving the glitch in the game this long, yet they've said they're worried about how a bigger level cap would unbalance the game. Surely they're not overly concerned about balance if they've left the ES glitch in so far.

But if you're worried that your use of the ES glitch will ruin the difficulty of the third playthrough, just don't use it.

Interesting post today by AdamF (GBX PR and Marketing)

"You can still buy a Season Pass.

There will be inventory/backup/storage increases in the update (Free update). More ammo SDU's will be available in the black market along with eridium maximums increased.

Chris will have a full list of the changes sometime this week for everyone. He also is going to get the Krieg forum up sometime this week.

He's da best :)

Big props to all the GBX programmers on getting those changes in. Our programmers are amazing

Well, something good at least...

I am still waiting for Sledge's Shotgun to have the proper knockback that it had in the first game. It's pretty much useless.

Bout time for more storage, Not so much the whole increase edidium storage but now if it has increase ammo sdu's meaning not so much on Ammo regen then.

I started my 13th proper playthrough last night, TVH with Axton. I really don't know why I have two capped Salvadors but no Axtons... I think he's one of my favourite classes, I have a longbow nuke turret and I keep launching it then retrieving it immediately to cut the cooldown time right down, very useful for crowd control. The knockback and decoy effect also makes it great for reviving people, if they're getting hassled by a Badass Psycho you just knock them away, give them something else to focus on and run in for the revive in the meantime.

I am wondering if they are gonna bring back some of the pearlescents from the first game...
The Jackal could make a great Torgue shotgun, and the Serpens as a Bandit LMG. It would be pretty awesome though if they brought back the Gasher as a Dahl. I am also wondering if they are gonna make pearlescent grenade mods, class mods, shields and/or relics. Would make things more interesting.

Although, I wish they would buff the Hellfire and Volcano. Really sad that an E-Tech can easily do more damage than those two legendaries.

Is there a wasy to get that E-Tech gun again? I sold it accidentally and I don't see it at the buyback station :dunce: Can I do that Mystery To Me mission again?

If you sold it then its probably gone unless it was on PT1 then you can do it in PT2, if not then might have to wait until PT3 or find a program to remove that mission and redo it that way or find someone that has it and trade with that person.

Don't know if unique weapons go in chests. (someone can either confirm or deny this)

Edit: For the Level cap you get 11 skillpoints added to what you have.

I'm not that far into the game and it's pretty tough single player and I have some friends who want to play co-op so I think I'll just erase/delete my game save and start over. Thanks for the help TJ.

There is no mission called "Mystery To Me." What E-Tech gun are you talking about? Do you mean the mission Medical Mystery?

I think he did. That E-Tech isn't unique but they are hard to find, nothing worth deleting your save over. Also I'd keep the character anyway since they're already at Sanctuary, you could use it as a bank for extra gear or just get a headstart on your next game.

When I first started playing Borderlands 2, I found E-Techs to be rather common in Bullymong piles...but then again, that could have been just luck.

I stupidly check certain chests which have given me good loot before every single time I'm nearby yet quite often forget to bother with others, even though they have the exact same chance to spawn good loot. It would be interesting if it was possible to tell how many legendaries we've missed through laziness. I mean it's probably possible, but extremely unlikely, that legendaries can be found in Skag piles.

Whoops! Too much Fleetwood Mac lately  Yes, sorry Medical Mystery.

I can normally find a run of 5-10 in the TR but I'm on hold at lease until thursday when I can finally get back in.

My guess is they'll be the same as before, as in uniques rather than completely random like most purples and blues. I would like a super awesome tier of randomly generated weapons though, just because it would then be possible to have something sort of anonymous that's better than any legendary that no one else will have, but that seems unlikely to happen. If its going to be a rarer rarity than orange, they'll probably make them unique to make trading and collection easier.

Eh, I couldn't really care less. Unless it can knock enemies into orbit, anyway, or at least knock back all enemies and not just the smaller ones. Either way, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

TR? Treasure Room?

Anyone have any idea how the pearlescents might work out?

Yup Treasure room.

I heard pearls would be just buffed versions of certain "orange" one's with no real additional bonuses. (like ammo regen)

So I just realised I've backed up my game in reverse and reverted to a month-old save. I wondered why I had seven keys instead of just three... My level 37 Axton is now just 11! Everyone else is fine though, thankfully. I'm trying Recuva to see if it can get my Save000B.sav back.

Edit: Fixed! I actually feel a bit dirty seeing as how I gained a few gold keys from this. Now, I'm pretty sure I didn't use any other characters in the time since the wipe, but... I think I might just make sure. Absolutely certain I haven't found or transferred any legendaries, anyway. Oh actually there were a couple of legendaries transferred but nothing that important as they weren't 50s. I can't be bothered to worry about it any more!

Wow. That would be pretty damn stupid. I think the Seraph rarity would be better suited for that.

Here is some of the info for 4/2.
Changes in 4/2 Software Update (Free)

- New items in the Black Market:

- One additional ammo upgrade for each ammo type, at 50 Eridium each.
- Two more backpack storage space upgrades, at 50 and 100 Eridium respectively.
- Two more bank storage space upgrades, at 50 and 100 Eridium respectively.

- Increases the maximum amount of Eridium players can hold from 99 to 500.
- Adds a new playthrough balanced for top-tier play: Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode.
- Various bug fixes.
Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack (Free with Season Pass, $4.99 / 400 Microsoft Points separately)

- Raises level cap to 61, allowing characters to gain 11 additional levels.
- Characters gain a skill point with every level from 51 to 61, for a total of 11 more skill points.
- Powerful new "Ancient" E-Tech relics and rare Pearlscent-grade weapons can be picked up in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode.

Interesting... I don't know why I didn't equate the news of new SDUs with new backpack and bank upgrades, I only thought ammo. I suppose it's because it's been so long since I bought either backpack or bank upgrades! 500 Eridium though, surely that's a sign of some new use for Eridium in the last DLC?
