Bored of GT5

To be honest, I am bored of GT5.

I'm still playing it because photo mode and racing with friends keep the game alive for me.

Not at all. Probably you're not playing the game right. If you tune all cars to the max and put racing softs then that migh tbe the problem. You're stuck with 1000 cars that feel the same.

Try keeping cars as stock as possible with street tires and you'll start seeing what Gran Turismo is all about.

If that's not the case, then I really don't know what to tell you other than the PS3 accepts other games. Buy other games and start playing them from beginning to end. Sooner or later you'll feel the need to play Gran Turismo again.

👍 I just shuffled race for 3 hours  It was fun and frustrating but far from boring!

It's not that it's getting boring. It's just that there isn't anything else to do.

That's why I'm doing other stuff like taking photos, reviewing cars, playing rounds with friends, etc.

Or shuffle race. That's probably the best feature that the game has 👍
I also spend hours doing 400-500pp shuffle races when I find a decent room with them.

I wish we had the autocross feature that is in Forza4 It would add more to GT5.

I never said I 'hate' the game, i just said im bored because I have most the cars and finished A and B spec, plus no new DLC has been announced.

Unfortunately, as many of you have discovered, GT5 is a very short game that boasts little to no replay value. Once you've completed the game, there's pretty much nothing left to do.

If you face it like a simple "game" yea. If you see it like a car nut encyclopedia and automotive playground, that big-little place on your head where you make your dirty dreams come true... A-spec its just the tip of the iceberg. Theres MUCH, MUCH more to do... online racing, car testing, car tuning, cruising online, drag racing, drifting, trading, etc...

Or shuffle race. That's probably the best feature that the game has 👍

In the end, Shuffle races are the most fun racing you can do online. There's the whole "OMG, what car I'm going to get?" feeling, and its always a surprise/fun moment because every single race most people are trying to get the most out of those cars, on stock form... its just beautiful to see and feel. So fun!

Someone stated FM4 as being a better game. I do agree. I really agree. Played it a bit and I feel like FM4 is that hot girl you knew from college. She's hot, she got big boobs and all, everyone want to go out with her. But in the end, she gets drunk a lot and sometimes will make you ashamed. But man, she know's how to "make it" sometimes.

Gran Turismo it's that good wife. She takes care of you, love you, know your for years and most of time know what you like. She's a good mother, take care of kids and family and you know that it's the girl that will take care of you and your family forever. It may not be hot or sexy as the other one. She does some little mistakes here and there, But, Every man, in the end... get back to it.

And that just shows that we MUST play other games to renew the magic and passion for Gran Turismo again.

I've bought GTA IV Complete Edition on PSN. I'm having A LOT of fun and its really helping me keeping GT5 fresh in these "dark times" without news and updates.

My replicas business is going strong, and its very very fun to handle trading like this... GTP is an awesome place to be when you keep yourself far from problematic threads.

And finally. The marvel of stock tires... I'm driving a lot using car's default tires and its definitely an eye opener. I just did a car with the same specs from the real car i'm buying (Ford Focus MK1 1.6) with comfort hards, soft suspension (yea, I made it worse!) and its... FANTASTIC to do some A-spec races with it. Keeping it real.

The tires. The damn tires. Change the game!

Well... that's all that I feel and what I'm doing to keep GT5 fresh for me. It works :)

I got 19.9mil and I don't what to spend on, I'm not interested in collecting the redbull car and I pretty much have all cars now so I'm just waiting for the next DLC to come and sometime I just take some car for a drive with stock tyres and everything.

If your're bored try this, https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=247737 if you're not first place then you have something to practice!

Also take totally stock cars (and tyres) round the Nurburgring, start with low powered cars about 120bhp and work your way up or do them in classes, ie Integra type R v Renaultsport megane v Focus ST and Ford GT v Merc SLS v 458italia v Aston V12 vantage v Lambo Gallardo etc race their ghosts and see which is fastest stock and as a bonus the replays are BRILLIANT, then take some photo's in them replays!

P.S ALL AIDS OFF! try ABS off too, totally different experience!

Keep you busy and happy for a while!👍

I love GT5, but unfortunately I'm also bored of it for now. :(

I prefer playing Race 07 / GTR Evolution and doing some intense offline racing with qualifying sessions and flag rules and all that stuff that makes it a racing simulation, not a driving simulation. Plus I can drive Porsches, BMW M3 GT2, historic racing cars and V8 Supercars at Bathurst and all that other amazing stuff the modding community creates. And it sounds sooo awesome... getting goosebumps every time a V8 engine comes to life or backfires.

I will be back to GT5 when the next DLC arrives (as long as it will be something interesting for me, bought all of them so far).

I want to race through an entirely new A-Spec career like I did when I first got GT5 the day it came out.

I race with comfort tires, no aids, no abs, with a G25 in H-pattern w/ clutch, with a racing cockpit, with a 52" Aquos, with a huge 7.1 home theater, etc., etc., etc...

I'm lvl 40 A-SPEC, done with A-Spec except 24hr endurance which I will eventually do.

I like online racing, but not enough in GT5, that's not GT5's strong suit. GT5's strong suit is the progression through a career with ability to run crazy amounts of different cars with great physics and gfx.

I'd pay for an A-Spec extension that wasn't this boring seasonal A-Spec format, but extended off-line A-Spec to 80 and that raised cr limit to 60 million or something like that. You know, DLC that actually EXPANDS the GAME. What a novel concept right?

Yeah I'm bored with it, I think A-Spec career was an embarrassing shame in GT5.. too short, not by a little, I mean like 5 times smaller than it should be. GT5 is a waste of a great physics and gfx engine to me. I want more progression in the game, make me feel like I'm ''getting somewhere'' with it.

They gave up on the AI too, so that's never going to improve. They just made them into rolling obstacles with one rabbit car to go along with the boring seasonal A-Spec concept. That's when they took out the standing starts.. abandoned improving a very important part of GT5.

Yeah I'm bored with GT5, and irritated with Kaz, who gave up on the 'game' aspect of GT completely.

This is no rant, it's communicate to people who don't ''get it'' why some people are bored with GT5, people who are huge fans of Gran Turismo and some who have been playing GT for decades. There's no ''there'' there in GT5 anymore. GT5 was boring 30 days after it's release because that's when 90% of the 'game' part of GT5 was over.

Whatever, Kaz won't change.. there's no point in even hoping for a surprise in GT5 now. At least we had the ''Driver's Club'' to look forward to before. Remember that, it was ''coming very soon'' were Kaz's exact words I believe.

Let the flaming begin.

No flame retardant needed. I mostly agree with you. GT-mode should be massive and instead is embarrassingly small.

Exactly. You should be forced to stick with your first car for a couple of races and earn just enough money to buy one or two tuning parts at the same time. Tuning the car is a must to even have a chance to compete in the next race and earn more money. After a couple of races, when the car is maxed out, there could be one special event (endurance race or very tough race) that would give you enough money to buy a new, stronger car. And so on...
That's how A-Spec should be in my opinion.

I don't know, personally I couldn't wait for it to be over. Of course it took me forever anyway since I hardly ever tried to advance and when I did I generally made it as hard as possible. It still isn't technically over since there's enduros to finish, but the last 4 will come whenever they come, and some of those are actually a little bit of fun. I also have Special events but have no intention of golding all of them.

I'd agree wholeheartedly if "racing" with the AI wasn't such a complete chore and bore. Making it longer would only help if it was actually fun to do. But the only reason to do A-Spec racing is to grind for all the cars, and unlock the endurance races. Online and Arcade are much more appealing, despite the dearth of needed options.

I don't know why people think that the extremely shallow A-Spec mode has anything to do with the game being boring now, GT5 is almost a year and a half old, even if it was quadruple the size, most people would still have finished it a long long time ago. The game gets boring because it's old now, I get bored of most games well before they're a year old. DLC is the only thing that keeps me interested in GT5 these days although PD have been worryingly quiet on that front recently (could be a good thing though as it might be something big) but as soon as they announce there will be no more DLC, I doubt I'll bother with Gran Turismo again until GT6 is released.

Because in my case I bought GT3 on launch day. I did not stop playing it until I got GT4.

I got GT4 on launch day. I did not stop playing it until GT5P came out.

A-spec is the key to doing this. If it is as shallow as GT5 then I can't replay it. I can replay GT3 and GT4 even now and enjoy them.

I have two things to say on this subject:

1) If you're bored with GT5 and you don't have a wheel, get a wheel and start over. If all you've done is race with a DS3, you haven't raced at all.

2) I didn't buy GT5 to race against the A.I., I bought it to race against humans. Contrary to popular belief, there are good public rooms if you take the time to learn your way around the servers. Stepping out of your comfort zone a bit at first may help. If you think you're going to get everything set up just the way you like it, you'll probably be disappointed. Of course, you could always just set it up your own way, but then you'll have to wait for others to join. Again, you have to take the time.

When I first got online, I had just bought a Superbird and threw every part I could on it, for no other reason except that I've always loved Plymouth Roadrunners of any kind (except the goofy Aspen ones). So, I'm looking at rooms when I see one called "Old Muscle Only". It sounded like a good opportunity to try out the old 'Bird, so I joined. It turned out that they were racing 7 lap shootouts at Daytona. Now, I'm not much of a NASCAR guy, and most of the time the idea of driving around in circles for five minutes at a time wouldn't appeal to me that much. However, this was, after all, the Superbird's natural habitat, so I stuck around for a while. While I was there, I met a lot of helpful and friendly people that I eventually ended up racing with regularly. It was their advice that led me to ditch the automatic transmission and ABS for good.

You see, going online three or four times isn't going to do it. It takes patience to build up some contacts, but it really is worth it. Online is what keeps me coming back to GT5. It's what pushes me to be better.

You see, the thing with GT5 is that much of the online racing you speak of isn't official. It's really hard to organize people to drag, drift, and cruise with you online. Not to mention the different driving physics between online and offline has alienated me from online mode all together.

The stuff you can do offline, the car testing and tuning, are also things that I do to keep myself busy. Again though, because they're not official, you don't know what your target should be, if that makes sense. You don't know whether you should tuning a car for 500 HP races or 600 HP races.

This definitely. When I got my G27, it renewed the game for me completely, until I got bored of GT5 again six months later.

When I went online in the past, I've always set up "track day" lobbies rather than race lobbys. This is a personal problem, but I don't like how everyone online uses Racing Soft tires. Every time I limit the tires to Sport Hards, everyone pretty much will just leave, or they'll shout at me for limiting the tires.

Yes and well... there's fun for everyone. Eg.: most people think that cruise/traffic rooms are boring and stupid but I've found them to be epic fun when its done by good people, they are very organizated and things flow beautifuly.

Clean shuffle rooms always provide great races and typical 450pp sports tires rooms are very very good too!

If you bored then your not playing it correctly.

Try racing online with a group of people that know how to race and you'll have a greater respect for Gran Turismo and be less bored. Unfortunately, off-line racing doesn't promote good driving ethics and can become boring.

It is much more rewarding to compete in a race and perhaps wining when racing actual people.

agree, but it's really hard to find a good friend online

You're right. A lot of people gotta have their RS safety blanket, but good, clean sport tire racers are out there. Like I said in my earlier post (twice), it takes time.

Also, I agree with those who do lots of tuning and/or test driving. I love those "Eureka!" moments when you think you can't do it any faster, then, 💡 and there's two-tenths that you never thought you'd get.

For me, it just never gets old.

Well said on both accounts. 👍

GT2, a 13 year old game, still keeps me coming back for more and more. How come? Nostalgic reasons? No. But rather because of an extensive and enjoyable career mode and a great selection of cars and tuning options. The same goes for GT3 and GT4, besides the latter. Not to mention the fact that none of them had online multiplayer. X-link doesn't count.

So, yes, I'm mainly bored with GT5 because of the shallow and short A-spec career, as well the endless grinding for money and progression. Two things that has really put me off the game. As I said, it has never been an issue in previous games. I still play them from time to time. Can't see myself doing the same with GT5. It's dull and boring, unless it's drifting or hot-lapping in my Caterham at the 'Ring.

Anyone else bored of Gran Turismo 5?

You're not alone. I'm starting to get bored of Gran Turismo 5 too. But be aware that you can sign up for events hosted by other GTP'ers in the Spot Races & Time Trials sub-forum of GT5. It should be much more fun than racing against AI players who can't even drive all the time. :)

I got a bit tired myself and I love cars and racing games. I almost felt surprised that I didnt have the same urge to play, so I bought a game I never thought I would (Skyrim). Played it for a few months, got that same feeling of being bored of it. Even with all the things you can do, I pretty much did it all.

Then by a random chance I got a great opportunity and earned myself a fair bit of money which I'm going to drop into my actual WRX, which spurred a want to play GT5 again. I was very pleasantly surprised in my return, when I noticed all of what the updates had changed with the whole standard cars having wheel choices and other nice additions. So after taking a break and finding a reason to play again, its like a tottally new experience for me. If I had more time I would get into the Online scene but I always feel a bit goofy playing a online game with a headset on with my lady sitting next to me. xD
