Bram Turismo's Gallery - Tournament Round 1 before/after -

I am about to comment on all your updates I didn't comment on, here goes. :D

Mazda 787b: I like this shot, very different which is always good to see. I like the dark tone with the green. I do agree with what others have said, the road could do with some blurring and I don't much like the lens flare. Very cool shot though.

Aston Martin V12 Vanquish: Great shot, I love how you captured the car. It's a very interesting angle too, being so low down. Nice colour and reflections too. There is something I don't like about the blur though, can't put my finger on it. Maybe blurred a little too much. Great shot anyways.

Peugeot 905 LM: Wow, I really like this shot. Awesome framing and blurring. The contrast looks sweet too. What I most like about it is the colour. Suburb green tone, I found it hard to find nice shades of green sometimes. Fantastic shot UltraBram, love it.

Mitsubishi FTO LM: Another nice job on the clean up, very good blur. What I like most is how much the car stands out, great yellow. Very detailed shot.

Black Beauty: Yet again at NY. You love it there don't you. I can see why though, you get some great blurs and awesome reflections. Insane job on the clean up, all I would say it that it looks too soft. Very cool shots though, I like the first one more. Good to see you experiment with the second. Cool boarder style on the first. Another sweet update.

Messed up picture: I really like parts of this picture, like the bg and the 787B looks good. Everything else I guess is a bit wrong. Too much glow on the Yaris and road, the boarder doesn't do the shot any good. I can see why you didn't enter it.

Lotus Exige: Very nice work on the clean up once again, I like the colour and the angle is interesting. The wheels and brakes do look a bit odd, but good choice on the black rims. They look great on that car.

Toyota Supra at NY:
You are a master when it comes to shots at NY. Great angle, colour and blur. Nice reflections on the car, really brings out the shape and detail. The only thing I don't like is the bright spot on the road. Awesome shot otherwise.

Toyota Supra at Infineon Raceway: Wow, this is when you started using the bright spots is it? They look great on the car, really adds something special to the picture. Amazing clean up, great colour and blur as always. It is a superb shot and it looked great as your avatar.

Dodge Viper GTSR Concept at Trial Mountain:
The car looks amazing, like it is about to jump right out of the shot. Cleaned to perfection and good use the of bright spots. I am not really liking the bg though, it doesn't seem to match up with the car. It is a good blur, I think you may of added too much noise though. Still a very cool shot.

Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R at Trial Mountain:
I am going to be honest here and it may sound harsh. I really do not like this shot. The blur is nice but again I think you added too much noise. The shadow under the car is way too bright and you put way too many of those bright spots on the car, it distracts from the car. They look like squashed insects. You did a good job on the clean up though. Sorry if that sounded really harsh, I was just telling it like I see it.

RUF 3400S at Motegi:
Nothing too special, looks very special to me. Clean up on the car is top notch as is expected. Nice blur too, but what really makes this shot stand out is the colours. They are awesome, love the look of the sky and the yellow reflections on the car. Superb work.

Ultrashot's guide to cleaning: Nice tutorial, it is good to see the way you go about cleaning up your cars. I am not a big cleaner person, I just try and make them look a bit better. I would like to ask what you suggest I use? I have PS 7 so I don't have surface blur and lens blur.
I must say though that your Monaro is amazing. I think it is your best shot, the cleaning aspect of it anyway. There is not much in the way of colour, but I love it. I can see why I got wasted in the Tourney. Good luck in the finals.

Lexus SC430: They are all brilliant shots, but I must agree with you. The second and third shots are the stand outs. The colours and clean up are great in all of them, really nice blur work too. However, imo the third shot blows them all away. That is such a sweet and very unique angle, I love it so much that it is now on my hard drive. Awesome work Bram.

Audi TT at New York: Wow, you are getting really good at this. I can really see how you are inspired by 440 in this shot. Both are superb, looks great in colour and B&W. Lovely colours too and a very well done blur. The car itself looks stunning, I do agree with Mog about some of the lines. Most of them look great and really add to the beauty of the picture, I just think the ones in the darker areas around the bottom of the car look a bit odd.
Anyway, it is an amazing update.

Well, there it is. Comments on all the updates I didn't comment on. That took a long time. Hope there isn't too many mistakes in there. I will be sure to try and stay on top of my commenting from now on. I look forward to your next Ultra Update. 👍

I also gotta say I love what your are doing with the podcasts, they keep getting better and I really enjoy listening to them so keep it up. :)

Not a problem, I wanted to catch up with all the ones I had missed.
Thanks for the rep boost. :D
I would love to hear what you think of my recent updates if you have the time. 👍

R34 GT-R @ Motegi
March 12th, 2007

So I did not clean like last time since everyone thought it was crap. I rather like this update, made two versions. Let me know what you think of it 👍 The shot was, again, inspired from 440 Charger's R34 but my result is nowhere near his...

Well... Looks like you're nearing perfection. Personally, the angle doesn't really do it for me - slightly further away, or further back (showing more of the rear) would've been better, in m opinion, but apart from that, perfect! My only complaint would be that the reflection on the door kinda seems out of place - as it the door has a big dent, which made the reflection shift a bit - it seems like the doorline 'cuts' the reflection into two different parts.
I really like the colors on the first one, but it's the second which really stands out. That dark-ey red sunset feeling is extremely well-done.

Oh, and I wanted to add: The inside-roofline (I mean, the part of the front-roof we see through the window) is, in my opinion, a bit too sharp. Perhaps a liiiiiitle bit of blurring is needed? On the red shot, it really pops up...

Its nice, but honestly, stop taking shots that are pretty much exactly like 440's shots and trying to edit them. I mean, its a good idea for extra practice or whatever, but everyone is just going to compare you to him. This is a good shot, but i dont think its all that great. If i hadnt seen 440's version, I would probably like it a lot more. Your TT shot on the other hand was very well done. I loved it, but again, I still compared it to 440's shot. Its just that the TT shot stood up a little better against his version.

The cleanup on this is very nicely done, despite a few slightly blotchy areas but that can't really be helped because it's GT4's fault. I love the wheels on this shot, they really stand out and suit the car well.

However you need to be careful of background blur noise. When you do a radial blur in Photoshop it often leaves noisy artifacts in circular motions around the image. In this one you can see them just above the bonnet and the spoiler. Unfortunately this is very difficult to get around but a little smudging before you add the final overall noise usually sorts it. 👍

The orange version is my favourite btw, the image works amazingly well with those colours!

Hehe yeah well, I wish I was able to come this close to 440 charger's picture. I remember when he entered his picture of it in a competition, my god I rightclick-saved it immediatly, and together with 4 other pictures I still got it.

But instead of only showing how skilled you are, it's the feel that you put into a picture too. It's not the case that, with a good clean up, perfect bluring and reflections and all, that you already have a nice inspirational picture for others.
When 440 came with the pic, the thing that really stood out in my mind, was that he came up with it. And that he was able to put his idea down into picture that well.

That's kind of missing here. It's perfect, but it's nothing more. Hehe sounds dumb huh?
I'm missing the perfection for your framing, and car-track selection. It seems like every picture, with the blurs and all taken away, are very ordinary pictures. For example, counting from post 300 (I didn't have time to look back even further) I never saw a car taking any corner, not once. It's kind of what I really mis, in this gallery. It's not that it lacks photoshop skilsl, it's just that it doesn't capture the essence of cars, but only the options of photoshop.
Try improving the basic first steps. You got the advanced photoshopping skills but the basic compositions, to make the original interesting, kinda faded if you know what I mean.

And I need to learn how to type this explaination into 5 lines, instead of writing a whole custom bible about it

No, in fact, you're totally right 👍

I've been wanting to do a corner blur for a long time now but I haven't got any idea how to do it so I just did these kind of camera angles everytime. But that's me though, I cannot seem to find the kind of angles like others do, atlop, for example. The thing about the feeling kinda makes sense as well, when I look at my picture over and over again, they're just plain boring. I guess I might try and blend in the clean up skills with some unique camera angle although it sounds hard to do...Thanks for all the feedback guys! 👍

A very nice update Ultrashot:tup:, both shots are great but I prefer the first one they're both clean(of course) but in my view I think there is too much going on in the second shot with the colouring, whereas in the frist shot the true colours of the car show and seems much more relaxed.👍

Also the first shot reminds me of the game auto modellista.👍

Another great update:tup:

I like the latest updates Ultra. They look rather familiar...:) :) :) I know, just kidding. Anyway, they are very nicely done. Good job on the cleanup for the most part. I like the colors on the TT. I would have to agree with Moglet on the lines above the rear fender though. They look strange, and to me they looked like a "find edges" filter. But it's a unique look. And I the R-34 looks nice too. I like the colors on that one as well. Nice job overall.👍

Thanks for the feedback guys 👍 And Charger, I tried that smudge tool method and I can't believe I did not try such a simple setting before, I gave it a go at the R34 shot and it was already better! 👍

Anyway, most of you guys know that I've been competing in Jaco's Tournament, it has been my first Tournament I ever entered and I really like how far I got into it. Currently I'm in the finals with only 2 days to go before we get to know who wins and I'm currently 8 votes in front of Dman. This Tournament was an excellent way for me to find out how good I am when taking on others and it seems I'm kinda good then :D But I only consider the fact I am in the finals as luck as the best on these boards were not in it (Jaco, 440 Charger, Funkshen, Krame, etc.) so I'm already looking forward to the next Tournaments to find how well I'll do once these superpowers are in the Tournaments. Although I would lose big time, I really like to take on 440 CHARGER once 👍 Aaanywho, I'm posting all of my entries to hear what you guys think about them. I did not really like the first two but I was really happy with the last two although the Mercedes really gave me a statisfied feeling when I was done with it. I might try and edit the emblem later on but I kinda don't bother...Anyway, share your thoughts on them with me so I can improve for the next Tournaments 👍

The Monaro you used for round 3 is imo the best shot I ever seen from you, I find it just beautiful, no flaws that I can see.

It's a shame (despite you're in front of the poll) that you did not got the headlights and badge to match the rest of the car (referring to cleaning), since the overall image is very well achieved, and I like the vivid tones you got all around.

Stop by my gallery if you have the time, tell me what you think.

At round 2 i was so jealous of your capibilities, the Renault 5 and a 787B alongside, and they both look so clean! Now i can pretty much do that too, but it still is a supersweet shot. The best out of the row was your round 1 shot. The tint, glow on top of the car, everything was just perfect. The other 2 (3 and 4) really show what you are about, clean, crisp, and in shot 3 a sweet sense of speed too! Keep it up man 👍

Very nice shots Ultra!👍 I love the round 2 entry due to the sheer atmosphere it creates in my mind (might sound a bit sad) its just unexplainable i just love that shot soooo much!:D
And my favourite shot of all which is the amazing round 3 entry Monaro:tup:
What a shot! I love it for its cleaness the reflection on the car and the sensation of speed it creates!👍

Ultrashot you know what I am going to say about these. My favourite is the......ummmmm.....aghhh........... all of them! Hope you (win) no hard feelings to Dman but your shot is stunning... really :dopey: .

That SLR is really impressing. Especially the 3 shining reflections on the left side mirror, in the bamboo wall just a bit left of that mirror, and on the right in the bamboo.
Those sparkles give it a look like it just came freshly out of a good cleaning job 👍 Hehe well obviously it did (in photoshop). But now I mean the cleaning with water and soap ;)

Oh man. I voted for all of those entries, they are excellent so what more can I say... you're pushing me again to make better work now, but your technical skill level have improved fast enough since you got CS2 and 440 advices.

I should say I personally didn't like very much your last SLR. I think the "Silver Arrow" could look much more Mercedes with a neutral or blueish tone. Yep, I know the tone matching fact. But... a natural background is not the best choice for so technological machine.

Why I voted for it then? Because you used perfectly the simetry of the scene to merge with the simetry of the car, and the car works perfectly too emphasizing the keen SLR "face" like a real Green Arrow. I liked the overal work of cleaning and details, a nice complex work for a comp, so I thought that shot was the best :D

I really am enjoying seeing these old shots one more time, but Ultrashot I hope you can soon decide on the interview date I have given you.

R34 GT-R at Motegi: Wow those shots are nice, very well done. I really like both of them. That gradient map really suits the Motegi setting. The colours are so good in both and of course you did a great job on the clean up. I am loving the wheels too, what are they? Also really like the blur on them, did you do something special or is it just a normal radial blur?
I will say though that I agree with what others have said, you shouldn't copy 440 shots too much. It is good to get inspiration from him, but you gotta do your own thing. :D

Tournament Entries: Four superb shots, I can see why you made it to the finals. I really like all of them except the second one. It just doesn't stand out as much as the others. I don't really like the angle. All the others are great. Love the angle, blur, green tone and glow of the first one. The cleanness, detail of the third one and the angle, colour, lighting and work you did on the fourth one. Superb work Bram, keep it up. 👍

"Simplicity"
I wanted to do this for a long time actually. These days it seems blurring and cleaning gets most attention while simple shots seems to be nearly forgotten so that's why I did a huge bunch of shots to prove you guys it does not take more then 5 minutes to produce a nice shot. All of the shots were only touched with the adjustments tools, a sharpen tool, gaussian blur, median filter and a glow filter. So no cleaning of any kind, no lens blur, no shape blur, smart or surface blur or smudging. Just the good old contrast, brightness and level adjusting 👍 In fact, I kept it so simple, I did not touch the watermark as well. I was however, dissapointed with the lack of texture structure of some cars like the Xanavi and the Castrol Supra. I reckon with some cleaning, some of these could come out amazing 👍 But anyway, I hope you like these. I posted them not too big so that they wouldn't take up too much space. They look blurry so small but I recommend opening them up full-size 👍

Great work on all of them, shows how good GT4 blurs and apperture can be!
Altough i don't really get why you didn't remove the watermarks :indiff:
You should join PMC with me in the next Tournament :)
