As a white atheist living in Birmingham, it always surprises me how often I've not been lynched.
The amount of skin on display must be an issue, just can't believe it's allowed.

It's almost like the far right are taking ****.

242 years*, suckers!!!

:P

*And a couple days, but who's really counting?

I don't think any of us over this side of the water ever stop to think what the July 4th celebrations actually mean, or clock the date when it comes around (unless you happen to see 'Happy 4th July!!!!!' posted on forums on the day.) :P

Oh yeah? Well we totally missed the boat on the 5th of November...

...so there.

Not really - the celebrations were continued in the new colonies as per the 1606 act and didn't fade away for many years. Given that the papish plot's intended outcome was dear to the cause of the protestant settlers it's not really surprising that they celebrated his capture as extravagantly in the New World as at home.

In other news: a couple who have just moved into a new house near Salisbury have collapsed in what's being described as a "chemical incident". Porton Down are examining samples taken from the house and the inevitable huge police cordon is in place.

A rumour I heard this morning (not repeated in the BBC story) is that there are concerns that this property may previously have been used by whoever undertook the Skripal attack.

BBC.

Russia renews World Cup invite to Theresa May...

Bad timing or what??

It has been confirmed in the last few minutes that the couple are suffering from the effects of exposure to the same nerve agent as the Skripals.

Boycott the World Cup! But wait until the squad qualifies for the final.

At this rate I think we are going to have to just seal off the whole of Salisbury and remove it from all maps, Simpsons movie style...

I can't be the only one who's finding the family's car (looks like a 205 Rallye) a distraction!

Literally the second I saw it from the helicopter footage it got my attention!

So, the Novichok spy drama is getting a new season? Mmm, gotta get some popcorn.
So a second string incompetent assassin from Russia rather than some one good at what they do failed to kill the primary and then disposed of the evidence publicly and your so not in the pocket book of your leader says "It wasn't us" and you just believe them?

The reason the U.K. government was able to convince the UN that the Russian government had carried out its attack was due to data supplied by British intelligence.

In reality the substance or method could have been almost anything and we would still know the perpetrators.

The Trump Baby may yet fly during the eagerly* awaited visit of the President to England and Scotland.

I'm guessing the Americans will be a little more creative with their blimp caricature of Khan if and when he should ever dare to come for a visit. I cannot wait to see what they come up with and look forward to it with delicious anticipation. I will particularly enjoy the torrent of faux and hypocritical outrage that will surely ensue. If I thought he had the stones to make the trip I'd pay for it myself just for the lulz:lol::lol:

Why Khan? If the Americans want to float a blimp of him then why should anybody be bothered... or are you trying to say that "the left" (seemingly your perpetual imagined enemy) wouldn't be able to take a joke?

Why would he not "have the stones"? Should he be fearful of being assaulted by those who oppose his values and positions?

:odd:

Sure, he didn't have a damned thing to do with the balloon but hey - he's a Muslim and is presumably therefore fair game in some people's eyes.

Talk about your "faux outrage"...

I'm not sure why the mayor of London would be visiting the United States in any official capacity anyway, but if he did, I suspect he would manage just fine so long as he stays out of the same sort of unsavory areas that he probably avoids in London as well. I don't mean areas where anti-Muslim sentiment is pervasive, either, just generally unsavory locales. Hell, he'd probably manage just fine either way, as he'd likely have some sort of protective detail.

Well, if anyone can, Sadiq Khan...

Most people don't have the balls or the gall if you prefer, to go visit the house of their neighbour after they've insulted them and told them they aren't welcome in their house.
