Oh I've also just been made aware of the phrase "Platty Joobs" to refer to this weekend's events, and frankly you can ** this country and every ** in it.

Omg GIF

I tell ya what, I'm involuntarily listening to the platty jubbs coverage on TV, and even despite my loathing for Brexit Britain, it's this celebration that makes me want to emigrate more than anything so far.

Is it Platty Jubbs or Platty Joobs?? I need to get this tattoo correct...

Come on @Famine, @Dotini isn't that Gull-able!
There are clearly birds visible in some the several available videos from the ground. However at least one of the overhead videos seems to involve something other than a bird. I will report back if anything more definitive emerges.

Edit:
The currently popular explanation of the overhead video is that of a stationary balloon whose apparent motion is due to its location relative to a moving helicopter with the camera and the moving formation of planes and smoke.

Vote of confidence (or lack of) in Boris tonight.

I don't think enough Conservative MP's have the spine to vote against him, and I'm sure those that do realise that there's no one better than him to lead the party, and that the brexit-bunch will see it as a betrayal, so I'm pretty sure we're stuck with him.

If Boris had any decency, sense or genuine humility then he would resign irrespective of the result.

So yeh, we're very likely stuck with him.

Question: Does the PM have direct control over MI6?
MI6 answers to the Foreign Secretary, who answers to the Prime Minister, who answers (on paper at least) to the Queen.

If he had any of the above, he would've resigned the moment it came to light, if not the moment it was confirmed, that he lied to parliament/the queen/public e.t.c.

And yet, here we are.

does that make you a Republican? :)

... anyway The Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations looked cute from outside, a lot of people really like The Queen (don't know about the rest of the royal family)

Looking at possible contenders, I'd take any of them over what we have.

Why oh why can't we have Rory Stewart back....

Tugendhat would get my vote of the current crop. Hunt is probably the frontrunner but working and studying in the NHS during his time as health sec has tainted him in my eyes.

I really don't know who his hypothetical successor might be. Michael Gove running for PM when no one wants him to is just par for the course now. Liz Truss will definitely give it a go as she tries to evolve into Thatcher. Potentially Dominic Raab; he's probably the least harmful candidate. Rishi Sunak is relatively young and probably doesn't want it yet, and Priti Patel is staying very quiet. They're all too busy going down with the sinking ship when they should be jumping into a lifeboat and commandeering the next one that sails by.

Well Bozza gets through. 211 to 148. 41% of the parties MP don't have confidence in the PM, obviously he'll take that as a resounding win.

Boris Johnson wins confidence vote by 211 votes to 148

Sir Graham Brady, chair of the Conservative 1922 Committee, says 359 votes were cast. There were no spoilt ballots.

Confidence in Boris Johnson: 211

No confidence in Johnson: 148

Johnson has had it, in spite of some of his loyal supporters crowing about the result as if it is an election victory... 41% of HIS OWN MPs want him gone. That's..... incredible.
