The PA news agency reports that videos from social media appeared to show rioters storming into the Holiday Inn Express hotel in Rotherham, with reports of a fire inside.

A police helicopter circled overhead, and at least one injured officer in riot gear was carried away, according to the news agency.

I'm baffled at the mind that thinks all their ills and woes can be fixed by stabbing a bunch of little girls at a dance club.

Similarly I'm baffled at the mind that thinks this act, (allegedly) perpetrated by a Welsh person, can be undone or warded off in the future by smashing up town centres, throwing bricks and burning wheelie bins at cops, and setting fire to mosques and hotels which house asylum-seekers.

Well, he's done time for mortgage fraud. He does have previous so it's not out of the realm of possibilities.

I won't click on a Mail link. Does it mention that the judge intends for him to be deported back to Belgium on completion of his custodial sentence? That'd appear to be pretty sensible to me.

I doubt it, given that the Heil describes him as the 'killer' in the screen grab I can see in the post, when the one being released was convicted of manslaughter for supplying the weapon, not using it.
 
I would have thought he'd have automatically been exempt from the early release scheme as the conviction was for manslaughter. If we want to get tough on knife crime we can't be releasing such offenders that early.

I don't understand how it's early release if he's supposed to be immediately deported. Unless the Belgians want to release him onto their streets.
 
The mother of two brothers jailed for burglary after a library was set on fire and looted during riots in Liverpool has spoken to Sky News outside court.
