How many Seasons has Ian been running in BTCC? He started out in Season 6 didn't he?
I did a couple of races at the very end of season 5. I missed the Meganes too. So pretty much season 6 and the Integras.

Why?

This is the problem. Banning tuning would probably distort the results too and this is exactly what we're trying to avoid. I think that tuning should be allowed, but let's be realistic and ask people not to go too overboard. Just make the car as quick as possible without spending the next 10 days furiously pounding around fettling the spring rate to within 0.01 of the perfect setting.

I agree with this too. Gotta be properly realistic to the season ahead I suppose (to a degree). My "change max speed" only thing just helps give me a feel for my own private testing, to set base specs.

Gotta admit even I've got a tune on my Peugeot :sly: Only on spring rate so far to get rid of the bodyroll that's enough to make you seasick.

Bloody hell, hasn't took him long to get the Championship then! :P
Here I am, almost 4 Seasons later and still without a Championship under my belt

I'd like to raise you 6 seasons of proper BTCC (didn't do Season 1), plus 4 one-make series without a title :sly:

The original plan to have every one use a different car was a good idea but when discussing it with rolo yesterday I was thinking it would be shorter like 3 -4 races , anyways it doesnt matter now.

This new test session will probably work for the best , everyone will be using what they like and will be trying to get the most out of it , therefore we should see less sandbagging .

I better get to work on the Nissan .

Right, so after discussion let me clarify the deal as it stands (subject to further discussions)...

You will get 1 championship point for BTCC-8 for each pre-season race that you complete. I'll be fair to DC'ers in pre-season and award the point if they complete at least half of the race distance. Rage quitters get no points. These points are awarded before the season proper begins and therefore they cannot be dropped.

Only the first 16 drivers to enter the lounge will be allowed to race. Too late? Too bad.

There will be 9 pre-season races, over 3 weeks. 3 races a week.
  • 1st May:
    • Tokyo R246 (TBA Laps & Pit Window)
    • Indy Road Course (12 Laps, Pit 5 - 9)
    • Apricot Hill (TBA Laps & Pit Window)
  • 8th May:
    • Grand Valley Speedway (10 Laps, Pit 3 - 7)
    • Willow: Big Willow (15 Laps, Pit 6 - 10)
    • Brands Hatch Indy (25 Laps, Pit 10 - 17)
  • 15th May:
    • Silverstone International (17 Laps, Pit 7 - 11)
    • Nurburgring GP/D (13 Laps, Pit 5 - 9)
    • Nurburgring Nordschleife (3 Laps, Pit 1 or 2)
Race results are not important. You will only get one point for participating to a sufficient level. Therefore there will be no qualifying - grids will be random. There will be 10-minutes practice (or more in the case of Nurb) for each track to acclimatise.
  • Usual driving standards are expected, so stay clean please. No stewarding or penalties pre-season, but use your common sense.
Car selection and Tuning.

Drive what you like from the car list. Change it up as much as you want, but run every car to its correct spec (unless asked otherwise). However, it is recommended that all cars are fairly represented in pre-season to help car development. If a car hasn't been run much, it's a good idea to run it.

Please do not run massively tuned-up cars. Minimal tuning is acceptable, but please try to keep it simple for now. If you can gain time with more tuning, then that will be obvious anyway without having to actually do it yet.

Was thinking that you might have got "Quickest New Person to get a Title Award" :P

Are you okay Rolo?
Someone! Quick! Call an ambulance!

Strawman__Andy won the title at the first time of asking, I'm afraid.

A bit giddy but I'm sure I can acclimatise.

I should be able to make a few of the pre season races, but I won't be able to purchase all cars. Currently have megane, merc bmw and ford. I can buy 2 more, just let me know which 2 you would like me to test...

Regarding tuning if it's anything like gt5, apart from diff, ballast position and decent trans setup I found settings made very little difference to my lap times!

Ready for testing :)

Going to start running them on Friday, after I've claimed 10th and Independents on Thursday night :sly::scared:

I found a good trick:

I held the power button more than 30 seconds and it worked when I raced on GT Academy 2014 Round 1.

Well I'm lucky in that yes although I've not got much credit for the game I think I have all the cars... So I don't need to grind for long... Ill struggle with the rear wheel drives but ill give them a go for the test... Saving my more suitable cars for the likes of nurb...

I remember... I met you in one of Bolton's 'Dirty Shuffle Fun' Rooms... I think rolo did make an appearance to one of the lounges once ;)

I was a regular dirty Nurb racer myself.. was always highly enjoyable! Winning races by 30 seconds plus wasn't in the spirit of the game but still satisfying :D

I love comfort hard tyres ;) @ gt academy, but I'll be using my Citroën in pre season because No one else is even going for it lol

Edit:sorry for tagging GT Lol...

I ran a 1.39 with the drive line(and the Peugeot untuned @ 310), and a 1.39 without out, at Brands GP. After using the driving line so long, and not knowing the correct way to take corners, and finally learning how to take corners the correct way, I can finally turn the drive line off(for online race series like this, where I can get practice, not the one-make offline ones). I mean, I still have a ways to go to be decent, but i'm just glad I can finally run halfway decent times without a drive line. It makes me somewhat happy.

I'm sort of happy I'm on a race ban for brands, as I'm having a right nightmare with the track.
And rolo joining the room and setting 34s really not help the morale lol
